The Osmonds . . . Let Me In

Oh, I had to -- come on! You find a great new toy and you have to play with it!

By the way, this song is from the album (yes, I'm that old) The Plan which the brothers wrote, arranged, performed and recorded. It is the Plan of Salvation as Latter-day Saints understand, put to music. They are not singing to a girl, they are singing to the Lord. Listen and you'll see what I mean.

By the way, if you click on More in the upper portion of the screen, you can type in any You Tube video you want and watch it. Me, I feel like listening to the Osmonds right now.

  1. All my wife wanted for Christmas last year was the Donny & Marie Show DVD. Found it on Donny's website and she was very happy. When I was 6 years old, I was living in Duluth, MN. Osmonds were up there for a concert and came to our branch one sunday and sang in sacrament meeting. That was fun. My dad taught a few of the boys in sunday school that day. I think that's when we became big Osmond fans. My wife has a couple of Donny's CDs and I have a few of Marie's. Went to a Marie Concert a few years back in Southern California. She talked to me during her concert when she sang "Crazy". It made my day! She actually called me by name. I know your close friends with them, but now you know about all my Osmond stories. When I was a senior in HS I was in the chamber choir and the only Mormon. Everyone use to tease me that I was going to marry Marie, since she was only about a year older than me. It was a fun running joke.

By the way, I am really enjoying your blog.

  2. Oh Osmonds, do you have a couple of hours? ;0)
I could just talk about them forever! I think I may be one of their biggest fans over here in Holland for the past 37 year! (Yes, I am that old!) LOL
I've never been the crazy/screamy type of fan, (guess that's me being Dutch), but I have admired them for so many reasons. They taught me so much! Like how important family is, how important it is to have God in your life, not to pretend to be different than you really are, etc....
You see, it's not just about their music anymore, altough I still enjoy it very, very much, we've all become great friends over the years.
There's just something about them, that makes you feel very loved and special. They would still be a great example to many, many people in this world today...
And they are so very loved by me.
    X

  3. Happy Gilmore,

Thanks for dropping by last night. You must have after I started playing with the new website I found and the ability to create slideshows and show You Tube videos on my blog. It's been too much fun.

As to the Osmonds. Yes, I'm good friends with Merrill (lead singer of the brothers) and Marie (no need to clarify there.) I love hearing these stories so keep 'em coming. It brings a smile to my face.

I'm glad you're enjoying the blog. I've included your blog as a recommended link on mine. Check it out.

  4. Marja,

I know they've made a great difference in thousands of people's lives. And really, what you have written are the greatest compliments anyone can receive. I will pass them on to Merrill.

Happy Gilmore, I'll pass yours on to Marie.

  5. Very exciting that you are going to pass my comments on to Marie, BUT even more exciting that you linked my blog. I will do the same. Thanks. I guess now I will have to yell extra loud for your nephews next week at the AZ game.

  8. This is my Osmond encounter. The whole fam was on tour and came to Lexington, KY for a concert. I didn't get to go to the concert, but we provided rides for them up to Louisville for a fireside on Sunday. My dad and I got to drive Donny and Marie up and back. They were nice, friendly and funny.

One thing I remember is KY has rock outcroppings that line the highways where they just chewed through the mountains to make the roads. Marie asked, "Do they grow that way?" Of course, Donny had to tease her about that mercilessly the rest of the drive.

And yes, Donny lifted up his pants leg and showed us his purple socks during his talk in the fireside.

I was sad that I'd missed their concert, but I did get to see them a few years later when they did a concert the weekend of the Washington D.C. temple dedication. It was great. They are wonderful performers.

I also loved D&Ms talk show. Was sad when it ended.

  9. The Osmonds are really wonderful people. I was also very sad when Donny & Marie's talk show was ended. They pulled because although it was a hit in the western half of the United States, they couldn't capture the eastern coast demographic. Darn them!

  10. I just downloaded the entire album "The Plan" off of iTunes a couple weeks ago. My husband is still teasing me. I had an old, old CD that I let some Sister Missionaries listen to about 5 years ago and they absolutely loved it! I think one of them absconded with it because I now have an empty CD case! LOL I had no idea whit was on You Tube. Thank you so much for sharing this! I spent most of my high school years being an Osmaniac. I had never heard of the LDS church before them, and I've been a member now for 33 years. Yeah, I'm 50! Where does the time go? Wayne's son, Stephen, and his wife, were in another ward that met in our building for a few years, and he sang at a sacrament meeting a few years ago. Beautiful voice. He's a chip off the old block. lol

  11. The Osmonds are amazing entertainers, without question. The Plan is a beautiful musical rendition of the Plan of Salvation and I really like it too. Let Me In is my favorite track off that CD.
