The Dangers of the Countering Violent Extremism Act - HR 2899

There is a new bill establishing yet another federal law enforcement agency, Countering Violent Extremism Act (CVE), H.R. 2899 sponsored by Representative Michael T. McCaul. I've read over the bill and am troubled by many aspects of it, specifically the definition, which is entirely too vague:
"(g) Violent Extremism Defined.—In this section, the term ‘violent extremism’ means ideologically motivated terrorist activities."
1) What the is the FBI for?

2) What is the NSA for?

3) What is DHS for?

4) What is the CIA for? (Yes, I know they handle all things foreign.)

Why do we need another agency? We don't. Establishing departments within DHS to deal with the problem is much more efficient. But, on top of that, I am concerned with definitions by Obama's DOJ over the last seven years which have identified Christians (people who read the Bible and go to church regularly) as extremists. Tea Partiers as extremists. Veterans as extremists. Conservatives as extremists. What hasn't been targeted are radical mosques, the New Black Panther Party (which has been promising genocide for years), Mexican drug cartels, and Mexican gangs waltzing back and forth across our extremely porous border.

With an administration like the Obama Administration a law such as this will be used to the detriment of American Society. Point in case, when the ungodly and inhumane videos were released of Planned Parenthood doctors carefully aborting babies so they could sell tissue and organs to researchers, Dr. Josef Mengele anyone, did Obama's DOJ go after Planned Parenthood? It is unlawful, and inhumane, in America to sell tissue and organs from human beings, let alone murdered babies. But did Barack Obama's Department of Justice open investigations into Planned Parenthood? No, they did not. They went after the organization who did the undercover work and released the videos.

In the hands of the Obama Administration you will see the Countering Violent Extremism Act abused with great frequency. It will not be radical Muslims or actual criminals attacked, it will be Christians, conservatives and veterans. Mark my words, we have entered into a dangerous phase in America, and this bill came at the hands of a Texas Republican.

This bill needs to go back to the drawing board and needs to be specifically defined. I suggest everyone call Representative Michael McCaul ((202) 225-2401) and let him know what you think about the bill. It's not long or difficult to understand, you can read it.

The creation of another federal law enforcement agency is unnecessary. This is why we have the Department of Homeland Security. I suggest a department be formed in DHS, appropriately funded, but with very strict guidelines. If this bill is signed into law without more specific language being written into it, we will see abuses unlike anything we have ever seen before.
