With the producers of Big Love showing no respect for the religion and sacred things of others, I felt it appropriate to post this video today.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the following video:
Follow me through the pages of history, modern politics, religion and more.
"Men may fail in this country, earthquakes may come, seas may heave beyond their bounds, there may be great drought, disaster, and hardship, but this nation, founded on principles laid down by men whom God raised up, will never fail. This is the cradle of humanity, where life on this earth began in the Garden of Eden. This is the place of the new Jerusalem. This is the place that the Lord said is favored above all other nations in all the world. This is the place where the Savior will come to His temple. This is the favored land in all the world. Yes, I repeat, men may fail, but this nation won't fail. I have faith in America; you and I must have faith in America, if we understand the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are living in a day when we must pay heed to these challenges.
"I plead with you not to preach pessimism. Preach that this is the greatest country in all the world. This is the favored land. This is the land of our forefathers. It is the nation that will stand despite whatever trials or crises it may yet have to pass through. (Ye Are the Light of the World, Harold B. Lee, p350-51)

Yeah, Tom Hanks is showing a startlingly low level of integrity on this issue.
ReplyDeleteCandace, I'd love advice on how to embed this on my blog. I tried using the video gadget but I ended up with all the commercials from the seventies.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see how this whole thing plays out. Something good will likely come from this, and that will be sweet indeed.
Hi Laurie,
ReplyDeleteI'll email you the code to put it on your blog. Then you simply choose the HTML option where you type in your blog and insert the code there.
Something good as always comes of attacks on the Church. Those who are truly seeking Jesus Christ come to our missionaries, our ward buildings or their Mormon neighbors and ask for more information. So I guess we should thank Tom Hanks, but I just can't bring myself to do that!
