Barack Obama and Alvin . . . One is Definitely Better Than the Other

Barack Obama's political machine is sweeping the nation. People are swept away by his smile and charm, enamored with the idea of voting for a black man and enchanted by the fact that he is so young. That's all great and wonderful, but has anyone noticed he's a socialist knocking on the door of communism? Is anyone, anyone at all, taking a look at his record, his history, his belief systems . . . is anyone looking beyond the smile and into the eyes of this man who should NEVER be President of the United States of America. I don't care what Oprah says, or the Kennedy's either for that matter. Big surprise there, I know.

Mitt Romney dropped out of the race and true conservatives mourned across the nation. Not the Mormon Haters, they were probably doing happy dances around their little Mormon voodoo dolls. But everyone else who truly loves this nation and wanted with everything in them to elect a man who would truly resurrect the economy, support our military as they truly needed and lead the War on Terror in an efficient and courageous manner, mourned. But America turned their back on competence, integrity and courage and chose a shadow of a former American hero, a woman bent on converting the people of this nation to a dependent people incapable of making decisions for themselves and a man who has made a mockery of the Constitution of the United States of America. with the exact same goals as Hillary Clinton.

People! I beg of you, those flocking to Obama because of surface reasons look at what you're doing and vote responsibly. Do I think John McCain is the answer to our problems? No. I think he'll destroy this country, but he won't do it as quickly and completely as the other two. He will keep the War on Terror off American soil while the other two (Clinton and Obama) will bring it home to America when they turn tail and run from our enemies, forcing our honorable and brave military to retreat. So yes, John McCain is the lesser of three evils. Which him as president there might still be some America left to salvage when Mitt Romney takes office in 2012. 1,338 days (give or take a week or two) until hope will burst into full flame, hopefully not completely extinguished by the next four years.

There is no question when I cast my vote in November I will cry as I vote for McCain. For I believe I will be voting for the destruction of the America I have come to know and love, the America my ancestors and current family members fought and died to preserve. There is no question that McCain is a liar and a deceiver, but the other two are even worse.

Over the next few weeks I will give an indepth analysis of John McCain as the Republican Nominee. I've already done one on Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, whichever one takes the nomination I will refine and research more on. In the meantime folks, sit down, keeps your arms and legs in the ride at all times and put your head down. We're in for a hell of a ride.

Personal Note: Alvin is still in the hospital. On Friday afternoon he spiked a temperature of 103 and became delirious and weak. I called his doctor and then raced him to the ER. 5 1/2 hours in the ER did not stabilize him and he was transferred to ICU. His vitals dropped, finally bottoming out at a heart rate of 36 (80 to 100 is a resting heartrate.) They started him on vancomiacine and then promaxin on Sunday.

By Sunday morning, 4:00 a.m., Alvin took a turn for the better and started to improve. By Sunday, late afternoon, he was transferred out of ICU to a regular hospital room . . . well, as regular as a kidney failure patient can get.

This morning they created a new fistula and put a perma cath in his chest. Dialysis will be done through the perma cath for the next two to three months while the fistula fully develops or he gets a transplant, whichever happens first.

As to the kidney transplant, we had great hopes with one donor but her husband forbad her to continue the process, so we're back to square one. We do have three or four people who are O+ or O- who are being tested to see if they are match. But it has set us back quite a bit. We were shaken, emotionally, but Mitt Romney dropping out and this hospital stay has put things back in perspective. We just do what we can and leave the rest to the Lord. Not as easy to do as it sounds, but there you have it.

Alvin is still in the hospital and it is unknown when he will be released. They have been unable to determine the source of the infection or identify the infection. With everything going on they are unwilling to release him at this time. He mad, frustrated and ready to go AMA and leave, except I won't let him. Yeah, we're really happy right now. Not. But he's alive, which was a state in question over the weekend. So he's holding his own and feeling better every day. Whew!

  1. I did not realize Alvin was waiting for a kidney transplant. I am so sorry to hear this. My nephew (2) is also waiting for one.

    Hang in there guys.

  2. Hope Alvin gets to go home as soon as possible. You sure are dealing with a lot.

They say people who looked at issues supported Romney. Those that went by charisma picked McCain. All they knew about Romney was that he was a flip flopper (tagged by media and really started by Huckabee). I will NEVER vote for Huckabee! But I am resigned to vote for McCain. I'm not happy about it, but I will do it over Hillary or Obama. But if it is Huck by some wierd chance, I'm sorry, but I will not vote for the bigot! A group of Obama supporters in a focus group on fox news was asked to name one accomplishment that Obama has done and not one could name one thing, but they all supported him. What is happening with people? Have they all lost their brains? I guess this is another sign of the times.

  4. Thanks everyone.

Alvin's temp spiked again last night, but we noticed it happening pretty earlier on so the nurses were able to stop a repeat of Friday. Thank goodness.

And Mike, I know. I won't be able to vote for Mike Huckabee either. Why are the American people so blind?

  5. Candace,

I hope that Alvin gets the medical help he needs. Watching a loved one suffer is frequently more difficult to do than being the one suffering.

I have son that will be able to vote for the first time this year. He decided that he liked Mitt Romney in the primaries, but is unsure of what to do in the general election. Oddly enough, he really likes Obama's charisma. He's articulate, full of hope and lofty ideals on the surface. You have to look beneath the surface to realize that there's really nothing supporting his "lofty ideals." I'll have to help my son see that. However, I can understand how Obama would appeal to the younger generation. Hopefully in the general election, McCain can force people to consider Obama's "Great and Spacious" House of Cards.

  6. I cry everytime I think about our choices this Nov. I cry for my boys, but I cry more for my America.

Prayers for Alvin. And for you as well. Having someone in ICU or longterm in the hospital makes you feel like you are getting a medical degree by fire. Assignment for today- breath.

  9. I'm going to have to do a write-in or hit the 'none of the above' box. I live in AZ and I will not vote for McCain. As to the others, can think of no comment.

  10. Thanks for dropping by everyone. Now, they are thinking it might some kind of endocarditis, infection or growth on the heart. So we'll know more about that tomorrow morning. I guess Alvin's temperature spiked to 102 last night after I left the hospital. Poor man was kept up all night surrounded by ice packs, being told to breathe (using one of those breathing apparatuses apparently can help bring a temperature down, who knew?) Anyway, he's very tired today but we have hopes we'll have some answers tomorrow when they do the test. Fingers crossed.

  11. Oh, Candace, I'm so sorry about Alvin's donor backing out. I'm an O+, and would seriously consider it if my own health were good. Unfortunately, with an udifferentiated autoimmune disease, I can't even donate blood! Prayers and love to you both.

  12. Oh man, poor Alvin! Poor you! It's a pity we don't live in UT - I'm O- and would donate in a heartbeat. I hope and pray you are able to find another donor for him soon. Thank goodness they were able to get him stabilized! May the Lord bless both of you with patience and endurance.

  13. I hope progress has been made to find another donor for Alvin. A good friend of mine from college had to go through the same thing with her husband a few years ago.

My prayers are with both of you.
