What a night it was last night. The last five years (don't forget 2008) have been tough as enough Americans embraced Barack Obama hoping for a change. Instead, they got exactly what Obama had promised if they'd been listening, and the rest of us who already knew what was coming have suffered a never ending nightmare. But last night was a night of stunning speeches, the best of which, hands down, was Ann Romney.
Mrs. Romney spoke to the heart of the American people as she spoke of love. If you missed it, here's your chance to hear what the world can't stop talking about. Of her husband she said, "Mitt sees helping others as a privilege, not a political talking point." But there was so much more Mrs. Romney had to say:
Congressman Arturo Davis
But that wasn't all. We have a new Republican in the party, and his name is Arturo Davis, and he too gave a speech that reached out to disenchanted Democrats and Independents. Congressman Davis said, "Tonight you nominated the most experienced executive to seek the presidency in the last 30 years."
Mayor Mia Love
Mayor Mia Love is running for Utah's 4th Congressional District and also spoke to the nation last night. She said,"The American Dream isn't just my story. It isn't just your story. It's our story. It's a story...of human struggle, standing up and striving for more. Our story has been told for over 200 years…with small steps and giant leaps; from a woman on a bus...to a man with a dream; from the bravery of the greatest generation, to the innovators and entrepreneurs of today. This is our story. This is our America. This is the America we know … because WE BUILT IT."
Nikki Haley
And South Carolina's governor was very impressive as she spoke. Governor Haley said, "If you have to show ID to purchase Sudafed in America. If you have to show ID to fly on an airplane in America. Then you should have to show ID to protect the most fundamental, critical right of an American citizen, the right to vote." Nikki Haley
Chris Christie
And New Jersey's Chris Christie was the keynote speaker. He is my husband's favorite and he did not disappoint. He said, "We've never been victims of destiny, we've always been masters of our own. I'll not be part of the generation that failed that test, and neither will you." Chris Christie
All in all, that bill of goods Barack Obama was selling four years ago has been shown for what it is, the rotting corpse of communism. Last night we saw the rising stars and leaders of the Republican Party and they are men and women of strength, courage, and the "know how" to lead America back in the direction she was always intended to go; a superpower that is the last great hope of the earth.
We cannot fail in this. If freedom flees America, there is nowhere else to go. We are the last stand, that last light in the dark night, we are America.
