A Moment of Reflection

Over the last three weeks I have faced many interesting propositions. This has caused me to pause, reflect and consider the direction my life has taken.

I was born in 1963 in California. Through the next 18 years of my life we moved so much that I attended 24 elementary schools, 3 juniors highs during my 7th grade year and finally, once my mother divorced my biological father, we stopped and I attended one high school.

In August of 1981, shortly after my high school graduation, I underwent open heart surgery under the skilled and inspired hands of Elder Russell M. Nelson, who was just Dr. Nelson to me then. What they thought was wrong and what was really wrong were two entirely different things. Fortunately for me, Dr. Nelson had seen this condition once before, 30 years prior, and he knew precisely what to do. He prayed and his hands were guided as he changed the course of the surgery in midstream.

In October of 1981, I entered Ricks College. After finishing there I moved on to Brigham Young University where the most important thing that happened to me was the meeting of my husband, Alvin.

After college I spent an inordinate amount of time learning to write screenplays, wrote 6 screenplays and tried to sell them, launching my own production company and attempting to procure funding. This was not a successful venture, no matter how close I came with Disney, Merv Griffin's company, etc. I believed, and worked hard for many years, that I would be successful, but it was never meant to be.

April 23rd of 1993 I appeared on The Phil Donahue Show in defense of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was an amazing experience which sent me on a two-plus year adventure of speaking at churches, firesides, youth conferences, etc. Oddly, it also brought Alvin back into my life.

May 4th of 1995, I was sealed to Alvin in the Bountiful Temple for time and all eternity. Over the course of the next 9 years I suffered 8 miscarriages and Alvin was diagnosed with end stage renal failure. We underwent drastic changes in employment, I continued to try procuring funding for my movies and we kept powering through, loving each other more every day.

In 2003 I decided to try my hand at writing a book. I submitted the first three chapters to a local publisher and was asked to finish it and resubmit, which I did. The changes which were ultimately asked of me seemed to take an exciting story and make it very bland. I decided to not go with that company and in early 2004, I attended a writers conference and found my first publisher.

December 1st of 2004 saw the release of my first book Out of the Shadows...Into the Light. It enjoyed moderate success in my opinion. Enough so that my publisher interrupted the writing of the sequel to that book to ask me to write a book on BYU's National Championship Football Team, 13 and 0: Reflections of Champions, which was released in August of 2005. Along about that time, I was approached by another author about co-writing a book called Forged in the Refiner's Fire, which we released February 1, 2006. The exact same day my husband was admitted to the hospital for a terrifying 6 weeks as we battled to save his life.

Alvin survived and we began the process of getting him on the transplant list. In and out of the hospital for the next couple of years, we lost my brother-in-law to a drunk driver the following June and my father to signet ring adenocarcenoma, March 8th, of 2008.

Between medical bills and trying to survive, I stopped writing and simply put it aside for a calmer time. That time never came. And two to three years went by before I began writing again, albeit very slowly and not very well. I deleted almost everything I wrote because it did not meet the standards I had for myself.

Alvin received a kidney transplant on April 15th of 2008, thankfully we'd already paid our income taxes for that year. The transplant went well and we enjoyed a time of good health for my husband.

In May of 2009 I launched Valor Publishing Group and worked hard with a small group of people to make it successful. We were hit hard, from a variety of areas, before we ever got off the ground, but have managed to survive and are seeing the company on the upswing, finally. It has taken untold hours and unimaginable hard work, but the company has survived and is doing better every day.

In the meantime, in April of that same year, I spoke at my first tea party. I became so involved in the preservation of this great nation that over the course of the last two years I've somehow become important to the political scene in more than one state, especially in my own. I believe it was important to stand up for what I believed in and to speak the truth, I still believe that today. What followed was completely unexpected.

May 31st of 2010, my husband was admitted to ICU, in full rejection, 5 infections in his lungs and in a medically induced coma. All through June he remained in the hospital until he finally emerged healthy again. Although back on dialysis and the transplant list, he is relatively strong and doing well. I do love and adore that man and pray daily for his health and good life. He deserves it!

In the early summer of 2010, I was approached by a producer to host a local television show, which evolved into The Candace Salima Show in a matter of weeks. We hit snags pretty quickly but have worked through them and hope to launch the show in the next month or so in our local market.

In the meantime, a friend approached me a month ago and asked if I would cover for a friend of hers on his radio show Buy Back America on KTALK AM 630. His mother had just died and he needed someone to cover for him. I agreed to cover two days; and within a week I was the permanent co-host of Buy Back America with Tim Aalders, Monday through Friday from Noon to 3:00 p.m. every day.

Now, we are making the move to 10:00 a.m. which provides us a better opportunity for nationwide syndication. All in all, it is a stunning turn of events considering the path which brought me here. I am still writing, still publishing, still doing the weekly television show and now doing talk radio five days a week.

Through it all, and in the days, weeks, months and years to come, I am determined to remember:

  • the eternities are more important than now
  • family is everything
  • to represent my God in everything I do and say
  • the divine purposes of America
  • and to never betray the values, principles, practices and precepts I hold so dear
What a journey it has been, and I believe there is quite a journey yet to embark on. It will be an interesting ride, without question.

Article 4, Section IV of the U.S. Constitution

So I was reading the U.S. Constitution this morning...really. I don't find it difficult to understand unlike liberal politicians, pundits and press. Anyway, I happened across Article 4, Section IV of the U.S. Constitution:
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.
Now let's consider what is going in the states with illegal immigration, more specifically, what is going on in our border states with the Mexican drug cartels invading us wholesale. Arizona has become a war zone, invaded by both illegal immigrants, determined to break our laws, and Mexico's hardened, vicious criminals who use Al Qaeda as their inspiration.

As I have quoted, ad nauseum, 72% of illegal immigrants commit identity theft and then continue to commit fraud upon the American people by using that illegally obtained identity. Some 30% of those who illegally enter this county, and I'm going to guess it's remarkably higher than that, but I'm going with Sheriff Paul Babeu's stats on this, are already in the American criminal justice system and waltzing across the border to continue their illegal activities. Mexican drug cartels and gangs climb fences, tunnel under the border, walk across the border, some moving wholesale over and taking over American cities, such as the case of a Texas border city where the English language and the U.S. Constitution, no longer apply.

In response to the extreme invasion over her border, because the U.S. Federal government has violated the constitutional rights of the state of Arizona, they enacted Senate Bill 1070, and it was signed into law by Governor Jan Brewer. Which according to Article 1, Section X of the U.S. Constitution, enumerating what the states cannot do:
No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

No State shall, without the Consent of the Congress, lay any Imposts or Duties on Imports or Exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it's inspection Laws: and the net Produce of all Duties and Imposts, laid by any State on Imports or Exports, shall be for the Use of the Treasury of the United States; and all such Laws shall be subject to the Revision and Controul of the Congress.

No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.
they were well within their rights to do. And while I'm thinking of it, every other state in the nation facing illegal immigrants in such huge numbers their welfare, healthcare and education programs are breaking under the burden, also have the right to enact legislation defending that state's right to do what is necessary to protect itself from invasion. Since the federal government has systematically denied every state it's constitutional right of defense, their lawsuit against Arizona's SB 1070 is completely constitutionally sound. They have violated no part of the U.S. Constitution and Barack Obama, Eric Holder and the U.S. government are completely disingenuous, not mention violating the U.S. Constitution, in filing a lawsuit against the state of Arizona.

Of course, all the attorneys involved in the case know all this, so I wonder why any judge hearing this case has given the federal government's case any legitimacy. It is federal posturing at its worse and a complete and utter waste of taxpayer money.

Oh right, Barack Obama is president. Wasting taxpayer money is his specialty.

Addressing the Rantings of the Liberal Left

I have a group of acquaintances in Arizona who have some raging liberals amongst them. They argue frequently, left vs. right, via email. The right presents good strong responses, the liberal left resorts to name calling and swearing. I've been watching it go on for a couple of years, since Barack Obama and the far far liberal left came into power.

One of their favorite targets is Sarah Palin, and their favorite mantra is "Sarah Palin gave up and walked away" and "Sarah Palin and all conservatives caused what happened in Arizona last weekend."

So here was my response to this email group, which will likely draw a number of emails containing untold numbers of expletives.

My response:

The reason Sarah Palin walked away from the governorship was one of expediency. The liberal left were inundating her office with multiple ethics complaints daily, each of which she and her staff had to legally address. She said they were spending all their time dealing with those complaints instead of running the state, and as it went on the legal bills escalated into the millions, which were Sarah's expenses, not the state's. Alaska was getting shortchanged because Sarah didn't have time to do both, although she was legally obligated to do exactly that.

There wasn't one single ethics complaint that did not go Sarah's way, but she had to address them all and the legal debt grew. She resigned as governor, turned the state over to her much less famous Lt. Governor, who would not be burdened with the overwhelming amount of ethics complaints, and set about making enough money to pay her legal bills. She accepted "expert" status at FoxNews, appearing and offering her opinion as a former mayor and governor on a variety of subjects. She wrote books, 3 to date, and has finished shooting a reality show for Lifetime T.V.

On top of that, she put herself out on the speaking circuit, garnering speaking fees across the board, to also chip away at that same legal debt.

As a strong conservative, and one I identify with and respect, Sarah Palin has also done her part to educate and restore sanity to the political climate. While liberals rushed willy nilly to pass one piece of legislation after another, each violating the U.S. Constitution, which remains as the rule of law in America, in multiple ways. Sarah Palin and other likeminded conservative Americans worked hard to educate the American people, find candidates who would hold to constitutional values, and help them win.

On November 2, 2010, we accomplished the purposes of a 2-year project and elected an overwhelming majority of conservative Republicans into the House of Representatives, whittled away at the majority in the Senate, elected 37 Republican governors out of 50 and an overwhelming number of states legislatures went conservative as well.

So to say Sarah "walked away" is a gross misstatement.

And just to add one more thing, Jared Laughner is not affiliated with any political ideology, unless you want to take into account two of his favorite books which are Mein Kampf (Hitler's biography) and The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx. Laughner's motivations had nothing to do with politics and everything to do with delusions, rantings and ravings of a madman, who despite distinct mental illness, showed an understanding of right and wrong by asking for forgiveness before he went out and committed this heinous crimes. There is no conservative group or person who has called for or would ever condone this type of behavior. To suggest otherwise, as the liberal media and bloggers have done, is disingenuous in the extreme.

So ... do you think liberal heads will spin around at this response to their tired old rhetoric?

Candace Salima to Host Buy Back America Tomorrow

Life takes some funny twists and turns, that is for sure. Truly, looking back on my life I never could have dreamed my life would go in the direction it has.

Tomorrow I will be guest-hosting on Buy Back America on K-TALK 630 AM or online at www.k-talk.com. I will be speaking with the Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson at Noon:
Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson is the most courageous, outspoken critic of the civil-rights establishment in America today. Often referred to as the “antidote to Jesse Jackson”, Rev. Peterson is the author of the “National Day of Repudiation of Jesse Jackson” event. Rev. Peterson is also the man behind the National Boycott of the NAACP, believing the organization to be nothing more than a tool of the largely “elite, socialist” Democratic Party.

Rev. Peterson is the Founder and President of the national nonprofit organization BOND, the Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny, whose purpose is “Rebuilding the Family By Rebuilding the Man”. He is also the author of the book, “SCAM: How the Black Leadership Exploits Black America”. Rev. Peterson is also a TV host and highly sought-after speaker.

Jesse is frequently seen on major TV networks such as Fox, CNN, and MSNBC, consistently leaving his liberal counterpart in knots. His unflappable, can-do attitude and absolute commitment to truth are the perfect medicine for a value-challenged society.
Should be a great interview and I am looking forward to interviewing him. You can learn a little more about Reverend Peterson at http://www.bondinfo.org.

At 1:00 p.m., I will be interviewing Representative Carl Wimmer who has formed an exploratory committee to examine his options about running for Utah's 4th Congressional seat. As a co-founder of the Patrick Henry Caucus, Carl has been on Glenn Beck's television show four times, and has done some amazing things here in the state legislature protecting the rights of not only Utah citizens, but American citizens as a whole. Learn a little more about Representative Carl Wimmer at www.carlwimmer.com.

At 1:30 p.m., I will interview Shaun Barrowes, an award winning singer-songwriter who is touring the world, receiving major radio airplay, and writing music for major video games and movies. We will be talking to Shaun about his Live for Music, A High School Tour. Shaun and his band travel around the nation doing concerts at local high schools, donating all the profits to the local school for their arts programs. You may learn more about Live for Music at the tour's website.

At 2:00 p.m., I am interviewing musician Jessie Funk. Jessie has recorded the most beautiful song, so beautiful that I use the chorus for the opening of my television show. Jessie and I will be talking about her love for America as well as her Ivy Foundation, which helps to build confidence in teenage ladies and to give them a boost in the right direction to make the most of their lives! Learn more about Jessie at www.jessiefunkmusic.com.

The 2:30 slot is being held for the first of two men who have been invited to join me on air tomorrow. One is far more likely than the other, but I have issued invitations to both Mike Lee, who is being sworn in as Utah's newest U.S. Senator tomorrow, and Governor Mitt Romney. You'll have to tune in to see which one actually shows up or if I'm going to be soloing it for the last half hour.

Anyway we look at it, I plan on having a lot of fun talking about a number of issues: Economy, Obamacare, Immigration, 4th Congressional Seat, Music with Shaun Barrowes and his tour, Jessie Funk, quite a bit actually. Everything with my perspective and anything the callers want to talk about. Should be fun. I hope you will all tune in.

Representative Carl Wimmer Forms Exploratory Committee

Eyeing Utah''s brand new 4th Congressional Seat, Representative Carl Wimmer, co-founder of the Patrick Henry Caucus, has formed an exploratory committee. I'll admit, I am ecstatic. I have worked with Carl Wimmer on different issues over the years, worked with him on tea party issues and have watched as he has grown in a state representative with strong conservative values, a deep understanding of states' rights and a strong understanding of the law. A former police officer, as well as S.W.A.T., he has come to Utah's capitol and written, co-sponsored and fought for legislation which stands for the rights of the people.

As an example, since he came into public office, Carl has accomplished the following:

2007: During Carl's first year in office:

1 - He made child killers eligible for the death penalty.

2 - He increased the penalties for Child sex offenders, rapists, child kidnappers.

3 - He removed a loop hole that gang members were able to exploit if they shot someone during a drive-by shooting.

4 – He voted for and supported a $200 million dollar tax cut.

2008: Carl's second year in office:

1 - He removed the statute of limitations on all 1st degree felony sex offenses.

2 - He made it so teachers who sexually abuse a student would have their license revoked forever.

3 - He removed a loop hole for those who murder a child while in the course of "abusing them" which actually allowed for a lighter penalty.

4 - He passed a law making it illegal for a government or governmental official to confiscate weapons during a declared emergency. This was called "The Katrina Law" because after Hurricane Katrina New Orleans Police confiscated law abiding citizen’s weapons, leaving them defenseless.

5 - He co-sponsored a bill reigning in out-of-control state regulators who were harming small businesses.

6 – He passed the Jessica Lunsford Act, which increased the penalty for the three most brutal child sex offenses from a penalty of 3-to-life to a mandatory 25-to-life on a first offense, and life without parole on a second offense. He increased penalties for child kidnapping as well.

2009: Beginning of Carl's second term:

1 – He repealed draconian laws regulating the use of Automatic External Defibrillators. The deregulation of these AED’s has and will continue to save lives.

2 – He passed a bill requiring prison inmates to start paying for the majority of their own health care and college education. He also changed the curriculum for prisoners so they are working towards an actual skill, rather than a degree they may never use.

3 – He passed the unborn child pain prevention act. This requires doctors performing abortions to notify the mother of the baby’s ability to feel pain, and to offer an antithetic prior to the abortion. Just this information alone, reduces abortions dramatically.

4 – He passed a state constitutional amendment fighting the Obama/Big Labor card check law which Obama had promised to pass in the lame duck session this year. This law was called “one of the most important pieces of legislation in recent Utah history.” It protects a citizen and workers right to a secret and private ballot. Because of its passage, the U.S. Congress decided last minute to not consider card check in the lame duck session.

5 – He co-authored a bill allowing homeschooled children to participate in extracurricular activities in public schools.

6 – He co-authored TWO bills to increase funding for education without raising taxes.

7 – He co-sponsored a bill allowing law abiding citizens to carry a firearm in their car, without a permit.

2010 Latest session:

1 – He protected life by passing a law in response to the woman who was seven months pregnant and hired a man to beat her in an attempt to kill her baby. He made this action, as well as all “illegal abortions” a criminal homicide offense.

2 – He passed the law which blocked the Obama healthcare takeover. Carl's bill is what has given Utah standing in the lawsuit against Obamacare.

3 – He passed a law putting teeth into our previously useless custodial interference law. Many parents (especially fathers) were not being allowed to see their own children, even though there was a court order. I put teeth into the law, which now allows for prosecution for withholding visitation.

4 – He passed a law giving citizens the right to use force to defend their personal property.

5 – He passed a law which requires doctors who are performing an abortion, to allow the mother to have and see an ultrasound of the baby prior to her making a decision. This has been proven to reduce abortions.

6 – He passed a law requiring more transparency for colleges. They must now disclose where they get foreign donations from.

7 – He co-sponsored THREE education funding bills to the benefit of JSD. He co-sponsored and passed a bill which allowed more flexibility within the School District’s budget which allowed them to create teacher jobs without a tax increase.

8 – He co-sponsored and co-authored eleven state sovereignty pieces of legislation.

Carl is currently working on:

• A constitutional amendment to require 2/3 majority vote of any legislative body in order to raise taxes or fees.

• A Constitutional spending cap for state government

In addition to the legislation he has passed and authored, he is also:

• Chairman of the Utah Family Action Council which is the largest family values based coalition in Utah.

• The Co-founder and face of the Patrick Henry Caucus.

• Helped to found Utah United which is a coalition of GRASS ROOTS citizens and legislators who are working together to defend liberty.

• He has opposed ALL tax increases, and has stated he always will.

• He opposed every budget that has increased more than population growth and inflation.

This is why Carl Wimmer has my 100% support in exploring whether to run for Utah's 4th Congressional seat. He is precisely who Utah needs and will easily surpass the effectiveness of all of our current congressmen. In my own interactions with Representative Wimmer, I have walked away every time, completely confident that Carl would protect the Constitution with any and all legislation he wrote, co-sponsored or supported, in addition to those he would fight against. Carl has never let us down.

Little birdies are whispering to me that Carl will definitely run. My little birdies are never wrong, as such I'm putting a call out to all tea partiers and conservatives across this nation. We need help. The Democrats in Utah are going to go hard after this seat and I want Carl to be thoroughly "armed" in this race.

This is what I know about political races. All conservatives are heavily attacked by liberals these days, I know that Carl is going to need every bit of support we can give him. I also know he has to raise a specific amount of money before the big guns such as Freedom Works and others will jump on board and help him financially and with visible support. So please help me, help Carl. Go to www.carlwimmer.com and donate what you can, be it $5.00 or the full $2,400 allowed by law in a single political cycle. Couples are allowed to donate a full $4,800. No corporations or businesses are allowed to donate, it must all come from private donations, like you and me.

2012 is right around the corner. We've already seen Barack Obama positioning himself to run. Axelrod is leaving the White House, to set up and run Obama's second presidential run. We've had two years of Barack Obama's "America." It is not the America our Founding Fathers created. It is not the one the U.S. Constitution lays out. I have fought hard over the course of the last four years, even harder in the last two, to stop Barack Obama and the liberals from utterly destroying the America I know and love.

I warned as many people as I could about Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. Many people listened, many did not. But across America over 39,000,000 Americans stood up and said "No, more!" On November 2, 2010 the American people were heard. Shortly thereafter, Harry and Nancy went to work and passed legislation after legislation during the lame duck session. This legislation further burdened our debt, stripped us further of our constitutional rights, and increased the reach of the already burdensome federal government.

I don't want to wait. I want to get Carl in the position where he can make a good hard run for our 4th Congressional seat. Please, donate what you can. It is the first salvo in the upcoming battle.
