What if?

The question was posed on Facebook, "What will you do if Barack Obama wins?" I clicked on the person's profile so I could see where they were posting that question from; it was an ex-patriot living in the Ukraine, that bastion of Russian liberty. He mentioned his American friends would be joining him in the Ukraine if Barack Obama won again. All I can say is those people are in for a shock when Vladimir Putin begins the crackdown.

I know the fight for America is hard. Believe me, I know it more than most. But engaged we must remain if we are to restore the republic form of government our Founding Fathers graced us with. The alternative is simply too painful to consider. I'm going to be as plain as I know how to be, abandoning the shores of America is not the answer. It never has been the answer, and never will be, not now. Becoming engaged is the only answer for a true American.

As a Latter-day Saint I often turn to the words of the prophets to get the strength I need to sustain the battle. Harold B. Lee is the one I read the most:
"Men may fail in this country, earthquakes may come, seas may heave beyond their bounds, there may be great drought, disaster, and hardship, but this nation, founded on principles laid down by men whom God raised up, will never fail. This is the cradle of humanity, where life on this earth began in the Garden of Eden. This is the place of the new Jerusalem. This is the place that the Lord said is favored above all other nations in all the world. This is the place where the Savior will come to His temple. This is the favored land in all the world. Yes, I repeat, men may fail, but this nation won't fail. I have faith in America; you and I must have faith in America, if we understand the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are living in a day when we must pay heed to these challenges.
"I plead with you not to preach pessimism. Preach that this is the greatest country in all the world. This is the favored land. This is the land of our forefathers. It is the nation that will stand despite whatever trials or crises it may yet have to pass through. (Ye Are the Light of the World, President Harold B. Lee, p.350-51)
And this is what I would have you remember. The fight for America is not an easy one, it never has been. Barack Obama and the Democrats have done an immense amount of damage in the six years they've been in charge. Yes, that's right, I said six. The last two years of George W. Bush's administration the Democrats were in control of Congress. Under Barack Obama's and the Democrats' watch America has suffered:
  • Three credit downgrades
  • Falling from #1 to #8 in competitiveness in the world
  • Dropped to #18 in free economies
  • General Motors went from a free enterprise to a government controlled entity with the bulk of its factories being moved to China.
  • A war on religion ensued unlike anything Americans have seen since our European days.
  • Freedom loving, law abiding patriots in the tea party were castigated by the Obama Administration, and the lawbreaking, violent occupy wall street "gimme" folks were embraced as a necessary movement in America.
  • Healthcare costs, instead of dropping by $2,500 as Barack Obama promised, rose by $3,000, per family. Services once approved are now routinely denied; and the Patient Affordable Care Act hasn't even gone into full effect yet. Twenty-one new taxes will hit us in January if it is not fully repealed and true healthcare reform enacted.
  • Barack Obama has added $6 trillion to the American national debt, routinely spending $1.4 trillion more each year, and bring us to a terrifying total of $16+ trillion.
It goes on and on, but I scarcely have the time or space in this single blog post to go over everything that has gone wrong since Barack Obama took office, those above are bad enough. Yes, the Republican elected officials are culpable in the downfall of America, but they have truly seen the error of their ways and are returning to conservative roots. All this is the direct result of the American people not remaining engaged in the process, and then finally becoming engaged again.

Mitt Romney spoke of the 47% of Americans who do not pay income taxes. And he is correct in this, but I am certain there are at least 8% of those 47% who are hard-working Americans suffering from severe downturns in their economic status. I think the number of 39% of Americans fully engulfed in the entitlement attitude, is a more accurate assessment. As such, those of us fully engaged in the battle for America's republic form of government far outnumber the self-entitled generation mewling for a cradle-to-grave government. The 61% must show up at the polls on November 6 and deliver a resounding defeat to Barack Obama and the Democrats.

In the meantime, we must educate, educate, educate. Those who believe in a strong sense of self-respect and a strong sense of responsibility, must teach their children, their neighbors, their co-workers and more what being an American is all about. If we do not remain engaged in the political process, making sure our elected officials know we are watching their every move, we get into the mess we're in now. We live in the information age and it simply isn't that hard to pay attention to which legislation is being submitted for consideration. It's available on the government's website (U.S. Senate and House of Representatives) and with a little bit of persistence can be read and understood. Then it's a matter of calling, emailing or texting your elected official and letting them know how you feel, regularly.

Bringing it back around to what began this post, if we all left America because the battle is too hard, only the self-entitled would remain and America would be gone within twelve months. We are not descended of cowards, but of patriots who dedicated their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to this nation. They've fought in the wars, in the trenches of the civil rights movement, in foreign lands on covert operations...and all any of them ask is that we hold the line at home. No, abandoning America is not the answer. Becoming fully engaged in the battle for the Republic is the only answer that can leave an everlasting result that will benefit generations to come.

The words of The Star Spangled Banner speak of that battle for freedom that birthed a nation. It is an anthem penned in the heat of battle and a patriot seeking sight of the American flag still flying in the breeze. So my fellow patriots, don't give up. Don't pack your bags and leave. We are winning this battle by battle, and we will win the war.

Don't let the reports from the mainstream media get you down. Reuters, along with a number of other sites, reported the results of skewed and unskewed polls. In the unskewed polls Mitt Romney was up by 10 points at most, (the Reuters poll reported that one) and 2% at the least (FoxNews reported that one.) That doesn't mean we should stop, it means we redouble our efforts and get the man elected with a decisive defeat of Barack Obama.

On November 6th cast your vote for the freedom of America rather than the restrictions of Europe's socialist democracies. Then we begin taking America back from grasping hands of the socialists who wanted to fell the last bastion of freedom on earth. Reagan's "last best of the earth" will survive and grow strong again. But only if Barack Obama is defeated on November 6th.

So cowboy up, America. We're coming down to the wire here and defeat is unacceptable. The blood of patriots calls out for the preservation of our nation, so let's get the job done.

NOTE: Don't forget to tune in to the first presidential debate on Wednesday, October 3rd. It should be a night to remember, and should definitively help people understand that Mitt Romney is the only clear choice for the situation America finds herself in now.

LDS Prophets Warn Against Communism

It's not new. Latter-day Saints confusing communism with anything good seems to always happen. And so today, I've pulled together a video and quotes of the prophets warning people against this very dangerous form of government. Indeed, for Latter-day Saints, we know that anything that robs us of the freedom to choose is merely a continuation of the battle we fought in heaven before coming to earth. See Revelations in the King James Version of the New Testament for further details on that.

But thanks to a sweet Facebook friend, I have this video to share with you:

Ezra Taft Benson, 1966, Brigham Young University

Ezra Taft Benson, 1961

"No true Latter-day Saint and no true American can be a socialist or a communist or   support programs leading in that direction. These evil philosophies are incompatible with Mormonism, the true gospel of Jesus Christ." (Conference Report, October 1961, p.74)

Ezra Taft Benson dedicated his life to God and the defeat of communism, which he knew to be the antithesis of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In his book A Witness and a Warning, he gives a stern warning to the members of the Church to eschew all things related to communism.

David O. McKay, 1939 Conference Report
(Two other messages in the volume should be read carefully in connection with this "Warning." June 1939 and April 6, 1942.)

WARNING TO CHURCH MEMBERS

With great regret we learn from credible sources, governmental and others, that a few Church members are joining directly or indirectly, the Communists and are taking part in their activities.

The Church does not interfere, and has no intention of trying to interfere, with the fullest and freest exercise of the political franchise of its members, under and within our Constitution which the Lord declared:

"I established by the hands of wise men who I raised up unto this very purpose," (D&C 101:80) and which, as to the principles therefore, the Prophet, dedicating the Kirtland Temple, prayed should be "established forever." (D&C 109:54) But communism is not a political party nor a political plan under the Constitution; it is a system of government that is the opposite of our constitutional government, and it would be necessary to destroy our government before communism could be set up in the United States.

Since communism, established, would destroy our American Constitutional government, to support Communism treasonable to our free institutions, and no patriotic American citizen may become either a Communist or supporter of Communism.

To our Church members we say: Communism is not the United Order, and bears only the most superficial resemblance thereto; Communism is based upon intolerance and force, the United Order upon love and freedom of conscience and action; Communism involves forceful despoliation and confiscation, the United Order voluntary consecration and sacrifice.

Communists cannot establish the United Order, nor will Communism bring it about. The United Order will be established by the Lord in His own due time and in accordance with the regular prescribed order of the Church. Furthermore, it is charged by universal report, which is not successfully contradicted or disproved, that Communism undertakes to control, if not indeed to proscribe the religion life of the people living within its jurisdiction, and that it even reaches it hand into the sanctity of the family circle itself, disrupting the normal relationship of parent and child, all in a manner unknown and unsanctioned under the Constitutional guarantees under which we in America live. Such interference would be contrary to the fundamental precepts of the Gospel and to the teachings and order of the Church.

Communism thus being hostile to loyal American citizenship and incompatible with true Church membership, of necessity no loyal American citizen and no faithful Church member can be a Communist.

We call upon all Church members completely to eschew Communism. The safety of our divinely inspired Constitutional government and welfare of our Church imperatively demand that Communism shall have no place in America.

Heber J. Grant
J. Reuben Clark
David O. McKay

NOTE: David O. McKay, CR, October, 1939, pp.103-14; CR, April 1951, pp.96-97; CR, April, 1960 pp.25-26; BYU Address, May, 1960

Thus, we as Latter-day Saints can see how strongly our prophets and apostles have attempted to steer us from the dangerous entrapment of communism. Any form of government tampering with the U.S. Constitution would be in direct violation of that which the leaders of our church hold so dear, the establishing of a government that allowed for the growth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide.

The Fourth Article of the Thirteen Articles of Faith, the very tenets of our faith, state: We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Anything that would stand in the way of us sharing this glad message to the world, would be the antithesis of all that God, and therefore His Church, stands for; it would behoove Latter-day Saints, indeed all Americans, to heed these warnings.

America's Battle Against Islam is Nothing New

History is repeating itself all over again. We fought Islam at the founding of our nation, and we are fighting them now. And why is that you ask? Let me explain their way of thinking in their own words:

"In March 1785, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams went to London to negotiate with Tripoli's envoy, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman (or Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja). Upon inquiring "concerning the ground of the pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury", the ambassador replied:
"It was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every mussulman who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise." Source
So what does noted historian David Barton have to say about Barack Obama's claim that Thomas Jefferson was chummy with Islam?

Learn More

So Barack Obama's claim that our Founding Fathers, let alone Thomas Jefferson, were warm and fuzzy with Islam is dead wrong. He, like any reasoning, thinking adult, realizes that Islam's end goal is the enslavement of the world, and death to all that will not bow to their unholy god.

Islam has never proven to be a religion of peace, nor has it ever attempted to coexist with any other religion or nation. And to prove that I give you every single nation now struggling with the Muslim problem of riots, flagrant disobedience to that nation's laws, and as soon as they gain any sort of number, they start demanding Sharia Law.

So Islam has never been a friend to America, and never will be. Stop being so dangerously naive as to believe anything Barack Obama is saying on the matter.

The Divinely Inspired and Living U.S. Constitution

I wrote this post five years ago, but have brought it forward to be enjoyed on September 17, 2012, Constitution Day. At a time when it is sorely under attack, our nation stands on an historic precipice. The choice stands before us: the Republic which has held us in good stead over the 236 years, or a Socialist Democracy which is current rotting and crumbling in the nations of Europe.

For me and mine, we use choose the Republic and here is why:

I've been helping a nephew with a paper regarding whether the U.S. Constitution was divinely inspired and whether it is a living constitution. In other words, is it still valid?

I can give you a resounding YES and YES. Modern revelation tells us that . . . but I don't need modern revelation to feel the soul deep power and strength of our Constitution.

The United States Constitution was the first written constitution in the world. After two hundred years every nation in the world, except for six, have written constitutions using the U.S. Constitution as their model. Would something so insignificant and long dead been used by so many nations.

George Washington said in a 1788 letter to Lafayette: "It appears to me, then, little short of a miracle, that the delegates from so many different states (which states you know are also different from each other in their manners, circumstances, and prejudices) should unite in forming a system of national Government, so little liable to well-founded objections."

Following that sentiment, on April 30, 1789, George Washington, standing on the balcony of Federal Hall on Wall Street in New York, took his oath of office as the first President of the United States. "As the first of every thing, in our situation will serve to establish a Precedent," he wrote James Madison, "it is devoutly wished on my part, that these precedents may be fixed on true principles."

The Constitution is, indeed, fixed on true principles. For it is based on freedom, representational democracy, responsibility, hope and a devout belief in a Judeo-Christian god, Jesus Christ. It united the thirteen colonies who, at the time, functioned under the very weak Articles of Confederation. They feuded constantly, never seeking the common good. Had the founders of this nation not been determined to unite and strengthen the colonies with a Declaration of Independence and constitution, these colonies would have fallen and been snatched up by the British, French, Spanish and Italian governments. All European nations were anxious to get a toehold in the rich new land known as America.

The colonies were in a depression, everyone was in debt, the national treasury was empty, inflation skyrocketed and the currencies (one for each colony) were next to worthless. Some colonies were in negotiations with the British to rejoin that nation. Others fought bitterly against this, and worked to form their own small countries.

When the delegates of the thirteen colonies were called together, times were desperate. Instead of amending the Articles of Confederation, they threw them out, and begin writing an entirely new constitution. About this task, James Madison wrote, "There never was an assembly of men, charged with a great and arduous trust, who were more pure in their motives, or more exclusively or anxiously devoted to the object committed to them. Truly, the U.S. Constitution was established "by the hands of wise men whom [the Lord] raised up unto this very purpose.""

Even these men felt the divine calling which had been there since before time, as we know it, began. Benjamin Franklin wrote, "When you assemble a number of men to have the advantage of their joint wisdom, you inevitably assemble with those men, all their prejudices, their passions, their errors of opinion, their local interests, and their selfish views. From such an assembly can a perfect production be expected? It therefore astonishes me, Sir, to find this system approaching so near to perfection as it does . . . The opinions I have had of its errors, I sacrifice to the public good."

So yes, this constitution was divinely inspired. There is no question when such feuding, opinionated men were drawn together that they wrote a document insuring freedom for all, in the formation of the Republic they'd sweated for months to create.

President J. Reuben Clark of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints did not believe that the Constitution was a fully grown document. "On the contrary. We believe it must grow and develop to meet the changing needs of an advancing world."

Joseph Smith, Jr. perhaps said it the best, "Its sentiments are good, but it provides no means of enforcing them . . . Under its provision, a man or a people who are able to protect themselves can get along well enough; but those who have the misfortune to be weak or unpopular are left to the merciless rage of popular fury." The Fourteenth Amendment, adopted at the conclusion of the Civil War, remedied that problem.

This is why the U.S. Constitution is a living document. It's foundation is good, but it needs growth as does a human being. In examining each of the amendments we find growth and improvement without violation of the foundation, save two (XVI and XVII.)

President Ezra Taft Benson said, "We [the people] are superior to government and should remain master over it, not the other way around."

President John Adams, the second president of the United States, said, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

The stated breakdown of the Constitution by the liberals of today rests in their own immorality rather than a supposed dysfunction of said Constitution. They need to look to their hearts, consciences and actions to find the root of the problem they cast upon the Constitution. This Constitution of the United States is as valid and necessary now as it was in in 1778.

We live in a promised and divinely consecrated land, of that I assure you. With that privilege comes great responsibility. We should thank our founding fathers for paying for this citizenship we enjoy with their blood, and their very lives. The freedoms we now enjoy were purchased with the blood of men and women who sacrificed their all.

Can we really treat this sacred document so cavalierly? I think not. When was the last time you read this precious document that governs the last great hope of the earth, the United States of America?

Glenn Beck Reveals the Real Mitt Romney and Apologizes

Glenn Beck did a special show on Mitt Romney today. He shares stories that reveal the real Mitt Romney, whom he has attacked often. But Beck apologizes to Mitt Romney, and shows the true tenor of the man who will be our next president, Mitt Romney.

I tried very hard to get these in order, but I am uncertain I accomplished that. They were out of order on the website I found. But still, the impact of each of these stories is stunning!

Five years ago I did in depth research into Mitt Romney. Some of these stories I knew, some I did not. But this I have concluded, Mitt Romney is a genuine man. Loaded with honor, integrity, love for his fellow man, and, I must add, courage. Running for president is not for the faint of heart, and he chose to put his life on the line in order to get America's economy and focus back on track.

Act of War or Act of Terrorism

Last night Libyans gathered themselves into a raging mob, committed an act of war by attacking the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya, killed the U.S. Ambassador, two U.S. Marines, and a member of the diplomatic corp. The Obama Administration issued a statement last night sympathizing with the murderers and apologizing for Americans exercising their right to free speech. Mitt Romney later issued a statement condemning the apology and said America would not tolerate this act of aggression.

So let's boil it down. This morning, Hillary Clinton, our Secretary of State, issued a eulogy and defended Libya. Mitt Romney spoke and strongly condemned the actions in Libya and said we should never apologize for the exercising of our constitutional rights. Then Barack Obama, our piece of crap president, stepped forward and spoke.

The act of war against American sovereign territory last night was classified as an act of terrorism by Barack Obama. Thinking back, he declared the act of terrorism in Fort Hood as "workplace violence." This is one seriously screwed up way of thinking from Barack Obama who clearly shows, on a daily basis, that he is unable to lead America in economical times of woe, and he clearly has no idea what to do when an act of war is committed against our nation.

This conveys to me more clearly than ever before, that Barack Obama should not be sitting in the White House, and sure as hell should never be Commander-in-Chief. He is the worst, wishy washy, cowardly, wrong headed president we've ever had, bar none.

Facebook and Twitter are afire with Americans weighing on this extremely serious issue. Many agree with me, but others believe a slap on the wrist is the better course of action. Let me be very clear, cutting off diplomatic or monetary support will not work. An act of war was carried out against America last night. And your response is to agree to the slap on the wrist? Americans were attacked on our sovereign soil and murdered. How the hell did we get so sissified in America that any American would consider this similar to a bullying incident in the schoolyard? It's an act of war people! Americans are dead! I don't care who apologizes. Americans are dead. We cannot tolerate this.

It's time we have a president who know how to walk softly and carry a big stick, and more importantly, knows when to use that big stick. I believe that man is Mitt Romney. This thing I can say for sure, Barack Obama is not that man.

Hand to Heart

Too often I see and hear The Star Spangled Banner being played at sporting events and yet, no one has their hand over their hearts. I don't question the fans and players patriotism, by any means. But it is a sad day to see the reverence and love for America fading in a long held tradition such as when we hear our national anthem played.

I'd like you to watch this 8-minute video by David Barton describing the history surrounding The Star Spangled Banner and the American flag.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Federal law dictates that all Americans should hold their hands over their hearts while the national anthem is being played, and the American flag displayed. But for me, it has never been about federal law. When I place my hand over my heart while the stunning anthem is played, I do so because of an express gratitude for the following:
  1. For those who gave their lives to preserve this nation and our freedom, and continue fighting that battle today.
  2. For those who fight the daily battle providing food for our ever growing nation: America's heartland, the farms and ranches of the West, and the plentiful farms of the West Coast.
  3. For those who fight the battle every day educating our nation to the true history of our founding.
  4. For the Founding Fathers who gave of their of their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to present to the American people the U.S. Constitution, a republic form of government that would protect our freedoms if we but upheld it.
  5. For those who fled Europe and the Balkans in search of religion freedom, for these are they who planted the seeds that birthed a nation.
I find myself greatly saddened when I see such disrespect for our flag and our anthem. America was founded on the principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In those three things promised the American people, we found the system of free enterprise which allowed our nation to grow and flourish. In war after war, Americans fought for the freedom of America and other nations. And although the history of America is not flawless, it is one by which we can stand proud. And for this, I place my hand over my heart when the America flag is raised and The Star Spangled Banner is played.

This version of The Star Spangled Banner is of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing the national anthem at the opening ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics. President George W. Bush and Gov. Mitt Romney stand with their hands on their hearts as this stunning rendition is sung by America's choir.

May God bless this great nation as the last best hope of the earth, the United States of America.

September 11th Remembered

On September 11, 2011 America was hit three times by cowards flying planes into the WTC, the Pentagon and those brave Americans who brought United Flight 93 down in a Pennsylvania field. American courage rose to the forefront of the world's eyes, and we watched as heroes raced into burning, crumbling buildings to save all they could. We wept as people jumped from the WTC unwilling to burn to death. And as people covered in gray ash fled from the buildings, shock and fear stamped on their faces, there is one memory I have.

Three days later, President George W. Bush walked through the rubble of Towers 1 and 2 and climbed to where he could be seen. He began to speak to the men working there and a man shouted out, "We hear you." President George W. Bush responded, "I hear you too. And soon the entire world will hear us." The nation's churches were filled to overflowing. And for nearly three months, before the memory of the horror of this day began to fade, America was united.

It is my hope that it doesn't take another American tragedy to unite America again at this critical time in our nation's history. I turned, as I often do, to music that speaks to my soul. I decided to share with you, the songs I listened to today.

The Battle Hymn of the Republic by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir

I am America by Krista Branch

We are America by Jessie Funk

Stars & Stripes by Nathan Osmond

The Star Spangled Banner by Madison Rising

And one of my new favorite bands, Madison Rising. This version of The Star Spangled Banner has risen to the top of my all time favorites. Listen in and see if you don't agree.

May God bless America, this land I love so much. As I watch the nations of the world crumbling in economic collapse, and I see the direction America is going. There has never been a more critical time in our nation's history. We must not sit home on November 6th. In addition, I believe those who have not united behind Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will harm our nation greatly, for the cost may be another four years of Barack Obama. Should that nightmare occur, the America we know and love will forever be gone. The Republic will have fallen. Please, it is time to put on your big boy pants and stand with us in defense of this great nation and the U.S. Constitution.

DNC Removes God from the Platform

While watching the Democratic National Convention, I lasted all of 60 seconds. The lies flew so frequently I simply couldn't take it anymore. The DNC is now the most anti-God, anti-traditional family, anti-American, anti-Business political party in the history of America. I tried listening to several of the speakers, even Michelle Obama, but it was a no go. My BS meter was in the red and screaming bloody murder. I had to change the channel, several times. It was like a train wreck. I didn't want to watch but I kept going back. It wasn't pretty, I have to admit.

Remember, the Obama Administration and the DNC have prevaricated at every turn, playing fast and loose with the truth. The economy is in the toilet, although you'll notice Barack Obama is claiming the economy is stabilized. Nearly 53 million Americans on welfare, 23 million Americans on unemployment, record high bankruptcies and business closures, cost of living escalating through the roof, median wealth of American families shrinking by $4,800, all on Barack Obama's watch; and what do the Democrats want to do? Yesterday, the DNC formally removed God from their platform, and formally embraced gay marriage. Oh, and how could I forget. They want to spend more money, completely oblivious to the fact that the United States of America national debt has now topped $16 trillion, $6 trillion of which is directly attributed to the Obama Administration.

So today, I give you the two men who have literally become the hope of America, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. Mitt Romney has proven to be a man of integrity, courage, strength and a backbone of steel. Paul Ryan has proven to be a man of equal stature. And both have proven time and time again that they know how to fix the American economy. So listen and notice the stark difference between the GOP and the DNC.

And certainly, one of my favorite speeches of the entire GOP convention, except for Mitt Romney's, was Senator Marco Rubio.

Have You Always Wanted to Write But Just Didn't Know Where to Start?

Have you always wanted to write but just didn't know where to start? You're not alone. Whether it's writing a family history or a book (fiction or nonfiction,) the basics of good writing are all the same. And, that's where I come into play.

The beauty of living in this day and age of technology is how far we are able to reach out to help others. As a new author in 2004, I was at a loss on how to proceed. I wanted to take writing courses, design a website, get a blog going (and I have Tristi Pinkston to thank for that,) learn how to brand and market myself ... a variety of areas which would improve my skills. Sadly, the money situation was such that I couldn't afford to do any of these things, except attend the best writers conference in the nation once a year. (LDStorymakers Writers Conference)

So I've spent ten years learning and mastering every one of these things. Cognizant of the economy and obstacles that face many people now, I'm delighted to announce a concentrated six-week writing course taught exclusively through Email and Google+ Hangout.

Over the course of the six weeks you'll learn the basics of writing a novel, be it fiction or nonfiction:

Nuts & Bolts of Writing

     Week 1: Outlining & Research
Week 2: Structure of a Novel
Week 3: Point of View and Active vs. Passive Voice
     Week 4: Dialogue
     Week 5: Exposition vs. Narrative
Week 6: Adding Dimension to Your Writing

This course begins Monday, 17 September 2012. All payments must be received, and spots reserved, by midnight on Saturday, 15 September 2012.

It will be taught exclusively through Email and Google+ Hangout, and will be a six week course. Each Monday morning, beginning on the 17th, you'll receive a lesson via Email, homework will be due on Friday by 5:00 p.m. MST.

We'll hold a Google+ Hangout each Monday at 5:00 p.m. MST to discuss the lesson. This is when we'll clarify the lesson, answer any questions, and solidify the principle being taught.

At the conclusion of the six weeks, if you've been diligent, you should be halfway through your book.

Of the writing and author courses I teach, attendees have said:
"I highly recommend Candace Salima's workshops and classes. I had no idea where to begin. I've had a lot of ideas the last two years, but no idea how to begin. She teaches you and guides you through the process. She is a professional and a valuable resource. You want to learn to put a book together and get it published, take her classes. You'll love it!" -- Traci S.
"Wow! What an awesome day of author training. I am feeling more comfortable with the process and feeling confident. Thank you, Candace! This opportunity was provident." -- Suzanne M.
It's possible for me to teach a variety of courses on everything I've learned in a variety of ways. Other avenues are:

First: Writing Seminar

I just concluded one of those and it was fabulous. The students were anxious to learn and we had a great time getting to know one another and honing our writing skills. This is a one day, eight-hour, scenario that will only take place 3 or 4 times a year.

One-on-One

This avenue provides for each student to work with me exclusively in a writing course tailored specifically to their needs. We use Email and Google+ Hangout in order to accomplish this.
