SCOTUS, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney

by Candace Salima

Twenty-four hours after one of the most historic, and horrible, decisions made by the Supreme Court of the United States, we now see the White House declaring, despite SCOTUS saying Obamacare only survived because the Individual Mandate was a tax, that Obamacare is not a tax.

When the behemoth known as Obamacare a.k.a. the Affordable Patient Care Act (what a misnomer) was being craft, debated, lobbied and voted on, everyone declared it was NOT A TAX. Barack Obama stated that it was not a tax, but he lied. Nancy Pelosi stated it was not a tax, but she lied. Harry Reid stated that it was not a tax, but he lied. And when the Obama Administration's arguments before SCOTUS were failing, they suddenly decided it was a tax. And that's the argument they put before the Supremes, and that's how Obamacare was upheld. The Obama Administration shifted their argument, and SCOTUS manipulated the law and the Constitution until they could declare it constitutional.

While SCOTUS says it is a tax, and therefore constitutional, and Barack Obama says it isn't a tax, it's a penalty, the American taxpayer has just been royally jacked.

Here's what it boils down to. With the SCOTUS decision to uphold Obamacare as a tax, the American taxpayer has just been smacked with the biggest tax hike in the history of this nation. And yes, you may thank Barack Obama, and every single senator and congressman who voted for Obamacare for the tax burden you're about to be hit with in the next two years.

I have to ask this question of the Obamacare supporters. Are you really so stupid as to believe that Obamacare is not a tax? Are you so deliberately ignorant that you really believe Obamacare is going to reduce the deficit? Really? In multiple Twitter conversations I've been sucked into with liberals, they won't accept the CBO's (Congressional Budget Office) assessment of Obamacare with a $1.4 trillion price tag. They've not read the law, so apparently they don't realize that Obama and the Democrats cut $500 billion from Medicare to help pay for this monster incarnate law erroneously labeled as the Affordable Patient Care Act a.k.a. Obamacare. Nor do they accept the SCOTUS assessment that it's a tax. They really believe it's all going to be perfume and roses from here on out. I don't know how to help these people. When you are deliberately ignorant, no one can help you.

And in regards to the largest tax hike in history, the Democrat National Committee responded with a tweet "It's constitutional, bitches!" And Joe Biden whispered to Barack Obama, "It's a big f*&^ing deal!" And the celebrations began among Democrats over smacking the American taxpayer with the cost of Obamacare carrying a grossly conservative price tag of $500 billion.

After Obama added his contribution of $5 trillion to our nation's debt, the United States of America now owes $16 trillion. Yeah, you saw it right. But do we see responsible governing coming out of Barack Obama and the Democrats? No, they are gleeful at the thought that we're going to slapped with such a huge bill, and rubbing their hands at the thought of spending more.

And how did America respond? Oh yeah, we are not a happy people. 47,000 Americans flocked to Mitt Romney's website and donated $4.6 million in under 24 hours, and the donations are still pouring in. In a FoxNews unofficial poll with more than 46,000 voters, 83.67% voted to elect people in November who would repeal Obamacare in its entirety in 2013.

We are in for an ugly upcoming four months. And the Obama Camp will be the source of the lies, misrepresentations and outright garbage. It is up to you, the American citizen, to learn how to tell when they are lying. Which as near as I can tell, is about 98% of the time.

Obamacare Upheld by SCOTUS, Mostly

by Candace Salima

Well, it happened. I do believe I was struck speechless this morning when the Supreme Court of the United States handed down a muddy, not to mention cowardly, 5/4 decision on Obamacare. They struck down the Individual Mandate as being viable when using the Commerce Clause and the Good and Proper Clause, but decided to transfer it to a tax which will be taken from your yearly tax refund, or added to your yearly income tax bill from the federal government. Therefore, Obamacare is now the largest tax hike in America's history. The American people, already shouldering the $16 trillion national debt, $5 trillion of which is Obama's, cannot withstand an additional $500 billion tax. Although, the price of Obamacare is $1.4 trillion, so I'm certain the American taxpayer will be shouldered with the whole thing.

Do you remember when Barack Obama swore, ad nauseum, that Obamacare was not a tax. Well, that's not what his legal team argued when they went before the Supreme Court. And SCOTUS handed a flawed victory over to the Obama Camp. But, is it really a victory. I don't think so, because the American people are once again energized to defeat Barack Obama and the Democrats.

For myself, I now see the American People as the only defenders of the U.S. Constitution. SCOTUS has joined with the Executive Branch and manipulated the U.S. Constitution completely beyond recognition. John Boehner, the Speaker of the House is about to hold a press conference stating the House of Representatives will repeal Obamacare in its entirety. That's great, but we know that Harry Reid will shut it down before it ever sees the light of day on the U.S. Senate floor.

It is now time for conservatives to stop the infighting, accusing each other of being too conservative or not conservative enough, and realize that we are all Americans. The Republic, for which we stand, is under a greater threat than it has ever been. It is up to you and me, because we cannot count on the Executive Branch, the Judicial Branch, and the Legislative Branch is freaking sketchy.

We have two choices. We could, as our Founding Fathers did, pick up arms and fight. Or, and this is by far the wiser choice, we can use the path the Founding Fathers gave us, and defeat this enemy in a peaceful manner at the ballot box. That is the path I choose.

Let's look first at what Mitt Romney had to say about the Supreme Court decision?
"I disagree with the Supreme Court. I agree with the dissension. What the Supreme Court failed to do on its last day in session, I will do on my first day in office if I am elected President of the United States. I will repeal Obamacare." Mitt Romney
$16 trillion in debt, America now faces, and if Congress does not act and act quickly, we will be facing an unprecedented crisis in America. The American people cannot shoulder the financial burdens we have now, we certainly cannot handle another $1.4 trillion with Obama's Cadillac Healthcare. We must take back the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives must be held. If Barack Obama wins on November 6th, the Republic will fall.

Twist & Shout Performance Group is the group I perform with twice a year. We meet once a week when Heather Hunt teaches us song and dance. Some stick with group instruction, others add in one on one vocal, piano, or performance training. She also teaches ages 3 on up to never-to-old.

It's time for new equipment, new facilities, etc. She is up for a $250,000 grant from Chase Mission: Small Business. Each business needs at least 250 votes to be considered for a $250,000 grant. Please help me getting her 1,000 votes instead. Eligible small business applicants will then be judged by a panel of business experts. Please help. Two minutes of your time and you've helped a wonderful lady.

Sean Reyes Through the Eyes of His Brother

Kyle & Michele Reyes
As many of you know, my brother Sean Reyes is running to be Utah's next Attorney General. Many have asked me about Sean's qualifications for this office. While I could easily speak of his legal expertise and leadership competencies, I wish to say a word about some of his other qualities (if you want to know the other stuff, visit his website at www.seanreyes.com).

As his younger brother, some have wondered about skeletons in Sean's proverbial closet. After all, siblings usually know about the "true" person, right? Well, let me say that from the time we were little, the "true" Sean has demonstrated a complete commitment to honesty and integrity. Frankly, it was sickening at times because he always made the right decisions after thoughtful analysis and research. He has been a coach and a mentor during times when I perhaps have not made the best decisions. He has been a stellar example to me in everything including: academics, family life, church activity, team sports, scouting, civic engagement, service, and most importantly, fighting for what is right. Sean has the perfect blend of competence, conviction, and compassion. His work ethic is second to none.

Over the past nine years, I have had the wonderful opportunity to work at Utah Valley University with wonderful individuals who are committed to student success. As I like to tell people, we like to "keep it real" at UVU by meeting students where they are and helping them succeed. I see Sean approaching this role of Attorney General in much the same way of "keeping it real." He has an open and collaborative leadership style with a high level of transparency. He studies issues thoroughly and at the end of the day, understands that his decisions affect real people. Sean is the real deal.

The office of Attorney General will not define Sean as a person. When he wins, he will continue to serve in this new capacity with the same commitment to integrity that he has demonstrated for so many years. Sean is not a lifelong politician. He is a proven lawyer, leader, and engaged community member. Most importantly, he is my brother, and I am proud to support him as Utah's next Attorney General.
