Steve Forbes: Obama Budget Pitch a Loser

No one with a half a brain could ever say that Steve Forbes doesn't know money. Here's what this brilliant moneyman has to say about Obama's $3 trillion plus budget.

Just as an example, you could spend a million dollars a day since the day of Jesus Christ's birth and you would get almost to today before you hit what Obama has submitted as his budget. Shocked?

Well America wanted change. They got it. We are going from a once free and proud nation to a nation of people on welfare who are rewarded for sitting on their butts watching television. Good job those of you who voted for Obama. The wholesale destruction of America is happening while everyone concentrates on the economy. Congress is ramming through socialist and communist legislation as quickly as they can.

Steve Forbes, editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine, has harsh criticism for President Obama’s 2010 budget — especially the provisions for tax increases and healthcare spending.

“It’s a loser on both sides,” Forbes told Bloomberg TV, referring to the taxes and healthcare.

Obama proposes raising the top tax rate to 39.6 percent from 35 percent and devoting $634 billion to expand healthcare coverage.

“Raising tax rates, especially in an environment like this, is not good for the economy,” Forbes says.

He opposes Obama’s plan for corporate tax increases too.

“That will be a real drain on manufacturing, which is already reeling,” Forbes says.

“Obama will have a hard time getting through $75 billion in new taxes on business.”

Bottom line: “I think this will be a downer: raising taxes on capital and burdens on people is not what you should be doing at times like this,” Forbes says.

If Obama wants tax cuts for the non-wealthy, “he should have cut payroll taxes in half for a couple years,” Forbes says.

As for healthcare, the plan creates too much control by government, Forbes says.

“This is a very statist, pro-government budget, and I don’t think it will give much boost to the [stock] market.”

Forbes has plenty of company in his views.

“This budget makes clear that the era of big government is back, and Democrats want you to pay for it,” House Minority Leader John Boehner said in a statement.

It's Obama Spreading Panic

From Dick Morris today, I received a fantastic column. I want to share it with you. Liberals can do their frenetic happy dance while laughing in a manic manner, but truth is truth. Conservatives will always believe in working hard and Liberals will always have their hands out asking for more. It's the nature of the game and ne'er the twain shall meet. And yet, Dick Morris makes a good point:

Ultimately, all recessions and depressions resolve themselves into crises of confidence. The instant, global, 24/7 communications of today make them ever more so. President Obama, in his pursuit of liberal big-government spending, has totally neglected the role of the president of the United States in reversing global panic. To the contrary, his every remark and the constant preoccupation of his Cabinet is to heighten the sense of crisis and to escalate the predictions of doom if we do not do as they tell us and raise spending now and taxes later.

Instead of being a firewall, reassuring Main Street even as Wall Street crashed, he has become a conduit of panic, spreading the mood of desperation from the stock exchange floor to kitchen tables across the world.

There are bad loans, which became bad assets, that lie at the root of the crisis. Through deregulation by the government and the greed of financial institutions, they spread to every portfolio in the world. But these basic facts have metastasized out of all proportion to their real harm into job and financial insecurity for every family on Earth. It is President Obama, not the markets themselves, who has spread this fear. A global Paul Revere, he has not only aroused us, but incited fear and trepidation in his wake.

Previous panics have been global in impact, but local in focus. The world panicked because of developments in Mexico or Argentina or Thailand or South Korea. Now, with Collateralized Debt Obligations spreading the poison of a bunch of bad loans all over the world, infecting every portfolio, the panic is not only global in impact but in focus as well. Modern communications have hastened the spread of the virus of panic throughout the global bloodstream.

In addressing this panic, the president of the United States must truly be the leader of the world -- showing the way back to confidence.

Instead, Obama has been instrumental in purveying fear and spreading doubt. It is his pronouncements, reinforced by the developments they kindle and catalyze, that are destroying good businesses, bankrupting responsible people and wiping out even conservative financial institutions. Every time he speaks, he sends the markets down and stocks crashing. He doesn't seem to realize that the rest of the world takes its cue from him. He forgets that he stands at the epicenter of power, not on the fringes campaigning for office. This ain't Iowa.

Why does Obama preach gloom and doom? Because he is so anxious to cram through every last spending bill, tax increase on the so-called rich, new government regulation, and expansion of healthcare entitlement that he must preserve the atmosphere of crisis as a political necessity. Only by keeping us in a state of panic can he induce us to vote for trillion-dollar deficits and spending packages that send our national debt soaring.

And then there is the matter of blame. The deeper the mess goes -- and the further down his rhetoric drives it -- the more imperative it becomes to lay off the blame on Bush. He must perpetually "discover" -- to his shock -- how deep the crisis that he inherited runs, stoking global fears in the process.

So, having inherited a recession, his words are creating a depression. He entered office amid a disaster and he is transforming it into a catastrophe, all to pass every last bit of government spending and move us a bit further to the left before his political capital dwindles.

But the jig will be up soon. The crash of the stock market in the days since he took power (indeed, from the moment he won the election) can increasingly be attributed to his own failure to lead us in the right direction, his failed policies in addressing the recession and his own spreading of panic and fear. The market collapse makes it evident that it is Obama who is the problem, where he should, instead, be the solution.

Swamped with Work

I am seriously swamped with work. I will be posting blogs on a regular basis again and am just trying to get on to a regular schedule. Two full-time jobs are keeping me seriously busy and stressed while I'm trying to figure out when to get everything done. I've received lots of emails from people asking if I'm okay. Absolutely! Conservatives are missing me, thanks. Liberals are having fun mocking me and want more blogs. Whatever makes you happy.

So Saturday morning I'm going to sit down and figure things out and will begin blogging regularly then. Believe Obama and sycophants are providing more than enough ammunition.

Oh Crap! She's Up!

The other day a girlfriend sent me a really cute email, you know the kind, the ones that get forwarded on to EVERYONE and something dire will happen if you don't share. But this one had the cutest line that she said reminded her of me.

I really hope the liberals think that every time they see me active on the internet. Every time they hear me speaking on the radio or speaking in public at universities, colleges and conservative gatherings. Every time I post something new on my blog. Every time I write a political email or make a phone call shining a light on the travesties occurring in the name of government in America. Oh yeah, and I hope the devil thinks that too. Cause I'm purchasing front line tickets for the butt kicking he's going to get from Michael!

I was in the car for awhile yesterday, running errands for my new boss. Oh, I still work for the other company too, but I took another job to supplement that income and make things easier at home. So yes, I have two full-time jobs and continue to write. It's all good. I'm enjoying myself.

Anyway, I was listening to Sean Hannity and a gentleman called and wanted Sean and the rest of us to give Obama a chance. I guess this gentleman hasn't noticed what Obama has done with his first four weeks in office:

Not first, but certainly one of the most important, Obama has spent almost $1 TRILLION dollars in just four weeks. Oh yeah, I can still hear the liberals screaming how much Republicans spent while in power. And yes, moderate Republicans emulated their Democrat counterparts and went crazy with taxpayer money. Shame, triple shame on them. But right now, Obama and his puppet Democrats have put all previous politicians to shame by passing and signing into law the Recovery Act. $1 TRILLION and it only took 31 days. And he says he's not done. Economists are indicating this Recovery Act will ultimately cost the American taxpayers over $3 TRILLION! 1,429 days left in Obama's presidency, let's see:

52 weeks x 4 = 208 weeks. It took him 4 weeks to spend $1 TRILLION and he's indicated there's more spending to come. Taking the numbers given above, if Obama continues in this vein while devastating the small business owners, removes all possibility of income for domestic energy sources and keeping us dependent on foreign oil, largely from terrorist nations, taking money from taxpayers and giving it to those who pay no taxes at all, opening our borders and allowing the continuous stream of illegal aliens to pour over the border taking our jobs while Americans continue to lose jobs at alarming rates . . . uhm: 208 divided by 4=52, and 52-4=48, and 48 divided by 4 = 12 x $1 trillion = $12 TRILLION, assuming the costs will continue in the same vein: $12 trillion x 3 = $36 freakin' TRILLION!

That's just taking his first four weeks in office and adding up the numbers should he continue in the same vein, which he says he's going to.

Our GDP is not well balanced with our debt, which thanks to Obama and the Dems, is now over $10 trillion, and the Dems will put us $46 TRILLION IN DEBT by 2012.

The American taxpayer is expected to take care of themselves despite all the roadblocks and obstacles Obama is putting in the way. They are also expected to take care of the deadbeats, as well as those who truly do need help. They are also expected to take care of the 30,000,000 plus illegal aliens and their immediate and extended relatives in their home nations while being taxed into the poorhouse.

So tell me this, Obama. How is it exactly you expect the American taxpayer to pay for your excess? You didn't create a stimulus package with your Democrat hooligans. Instead you created a monstrosity which killed the Republic and ushered in Socialism. You and your friends ladened it with pork, call it whatever you want it's still pork, and earmarks which had nothing to do with stimulating the economy.

Yesterday, or was it the day before, you pontificated about how you, the savior, the Anointed One, are going to save the American homeowner. But only those who purchased homes under false pretenses are going to be helped. Those who saved money, pinching pennies and depriving themselves of the luxuries of life so that they could get into their own home . . . those Americans aren't getting help from you at all, although they too are in trouble because of interests rates. You are only helping the deadbeats, not true Americans.

So again, mon président, how do you expect the American taxpayer to pay for your little bill? Oh, that's right, you expect our grandchildren to pay for it. And in order to make sure our grandchildren could pay for this monstrosity of debt, you eradicated a free republic and replaced with it socialism which hasn't worked any country, EVER! Not one nation, in the history of the world, excelled and grew under a socialist or communist government. You've killed capitalism. You've killed free enterprise. You've made promises to drive those who mine for precious energy sources into bankruptcy. You've spent and spent and spent, and it's only been 31 days.

You've left no way for our grandchildren to ever hope to have a chance at paying this bill. Of course that's maybe what you were raised to do, Obama. Spend, spend, spend and let someone us else pay for it. Me? I was raised to spend what I could afford and no more. I was raised to be financially responsible. I was raised to keep my spending below my income and save money for a rainy day. I was raised to take responsibility for my life, my actions, my problems. But apparently you weren't. Because you've robbed our children and grandchildren of their future while demanding those states who were fiscally responsible give up their rainy day funds and surplus and give it to those states who spent erratically or kowtowed to illegal aliens and environmentalists. Great. Good job. The lesson you teach? Be a deadbeat. Make others take care of you. That's what a "real" man or woman does.

Oh, you don't think that's what you're saying? Okay, that may not be what you're saying but your actions are screaming it loud and clear for everyone to hear.

So every morning, Barack Obama, you wake up and say, "Oh crap! She's up!" Because I will be fighting every minute of every day to wrench the free America you are choking to death from your hands and restore the republic established by our founding fathers. I will gather conservatives and Americans who have come to the realization that they were hoodwinked by you and we will take Congress back and we will take the White House back.

And a note to the Republicans? Screw up this chance again and I will launch that new political party and I will put both the Democrats and the Republicans out of business. As Republicans, you will hold to the conservative values of God-loving Americans and understand that America will survive only if those governing her will hold to those conservative values. Each candidate will be thoroughly vetted by me, by Mitt Romney's Free and Strong America and a few other trusted sources.

Michael Steele this is a warning to you. Restore the Republican party to those conservative values or I will devastate the rolls of the Republican Party. I will pull every single conservative from every walk of life and religion and we will rise up and restore a free America.

To the corporate CEOs and officers of all businesses, be you pharmaceuticals or oil barons, you will take this chance Americans will give you and you will give back. You will take care of the lands you use and the people who work to put your paycheck in your wallet. You will honor the advance of technology and continue to look to the future. You WILL NOT suppress technologies and medicines which will improve quality of life in all areas, including being wise stewards of the earth.

To the environmentalists: Back off until you get some common sense. People were given stewardship over the earth, but NOT to the exclusion of human beings. Yes, you may challenge corporations who are poisoning the earth and I will support you. But I WILL NOT SUPPORT the saving of prairie dogs to the destruction of ranches and farms. I will not support saving the polar bear so America can continue sending between $400 and $700 million dollars a day (I've seen both numbers) into enemy hands. I will not demand deserts and arctic wastelands be left alone so Americans can pay $8.00/gal. (Obama's desire) and reduce their quality of life. Because of idiots like you, I can't visit my widowed mother enough to make sure she's okay. So here's the main clue: You may take care of the earth but not to the exclusion of mankind and certainly not so that states' can spend billions of dollars a year fighting the fires caused by your insistence that nothing in forests, woods and mountains be touched. Keep that up, and we'll start sending the bills to you. In fact, start sending the bills to them now. Why waste time?

And to my fellow Americans, enough is enough. We must stand up. It is time. Through complacency, of one level or another, we have allowed this situation to occur. It is time to own up to what we did wrong and then make it right.

2010 is when the first salvo will be fired across the enemy's metaphorical bow. Start now. Research the politicians of your state. The one's who are not voting conservatively must go. The ones who do not respond and treat you, their constituents, with arrogance and carelessness, must go. Those who sell America down the river to cater to the whims of a capricious world, must go. Both on the state and federal levels. Begin there. If you do not know how, please email me, I will help you.

Use this simple formula: If you make $1,000 a month, you cannot spend $5,000. If you have a politician promoting that (and yes, Washington, D.C. is literally lousy with them right now) then it's time to give that politician the boot! We are not Europe. We don't want to be Europe. Our ancestors ran away from Europe because they had been screwing things up for centuries. Freedom only truly existed, was literally born, once the Declaration of Independence was signed and the figurative, and literal, "in your face" was given to King George.

We Have Not Surrendered the Fight

It is a sad, sad day for America. Yesterday, with a swipe of his pen, Barack Obama slammed the United States of America straight into socialism. Over the course of the evening I had occasion to be grateful my father was dead as this would have broken his heart. I miss him, but more so, I would have been brokenhearted for him as he watched the repeat of the events of his childhood.

Those who have been long time readers of my blog know that my father was born in Amsterdam, Holland, Netherlands in 1936. On May 10th of 1940, when he was four-years-old, my dad remembered awakening to the sounds of German soldiers marching through the streets of Amsterdam, the sounds of the little metal knobs on their boots ringing with each step. He remembers running to the window and looking down, then looking up into the sky to see it filled with German bombers and fighter planes. Holland fell within a matter of hours. What ensued over the course of the next five years was horrific.

My father often spoke of what is was like to have freedom completely removed. And when I say completely removed, I mean if they wanted to cross the street to the next block, they had to have a permit from the German Army to do so. If someone in the Dutch underground took out an enemy truck? A German truck would sweep into a neighborhood, round up on the men and boys and gun them down. Then the soldiers would hop back in their truck and leave the devastation for the weeping wives, mothers and sisters to clean up. It was a horrific time for Europe. And after the war was over, my father (who was then 9) was thrown into a concentration camp because he had German blood in him (Dutch father, German mother).

So when my father came to America, he became the fiercest patriot. He loved this country with every part of his heart. He loved the Constitution and pored over it. He even carried a pocket version of the Constitution everywhere with him. He loved the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. My father was more American than many people who had been born and raised here. From him, I gain my understanding of the power, privilege and responsibility of freedom.

From my mother, born of a long line of ancestors who fled Europe in the 1500's and helped carve this nation out of the wilderness, I gained an understanding of America and the political process and I became a responsible, thinking American citizen not easily hoodwinked by flash and dazzle and cutout versions of politicians who pretend to be Americans. Freedom and America were the watch cry of my childhood home and is still the motto of my adult home. And yes, I am talking about the freedom which we cavalierly threw to the wind when we elected Obama and gave the Democrats control of Congress. We are no longer a republic. With the passage of the Recovery Act yesterday, America as a republic ceased to exist. And the enemies of the Constitution and this great nation finally won their battle.

We are no longer a nation of people who sweat blood and tears to fulfill dreams. We are no longer a nation who believes in working hard. We are no longer a nation with big state's rights and small federal government interference. Okay, I'll admit, that last one has been going on for quite awhile, but Obama took a huge jump yesterday and simply said: "America, you're too stupid to fix your problems yourself, I'm going to have to do it for you. So sit down. Shut up. And you can thank me later."

Now, we are a nation who holds their collective hand out and says, "Hey, where's my piece of the pie?" Porn kings, automobile magnates, bank CEOs, cities, states, corrupt organizations . . . it doesn't matter. They are all demanding a piece of the pie, and guess what? They got it.

During the campaign, Obama touted "change". This is the change many of us feared. Those of you who voted for Obama, is this the change you anticipated? Is your education so lacking that you truly had no understanding of the tremendous personal cost of socialism? Is your desire to be given what you haven't earned so great that you cannot see what you have plunged this nation into? Have you so completely given up on the desire to earn an honest day's pay for an honest day's work and be able to look yourself in the mirror and say:"I am a good man or woman. I work hard. I take care of my family. I don't ride on anyone else's coattails."

Is that the change you wanted? A loss of freedom and self-respect in exchange for a president who thinks you're too stupid to breathe?

Now, one would think I would be drowning in despair. Instead, I have come out swinging. I knew, when Barack Obama begin to run, who and what he was. He has never hidden his socialist agenda. He has never hidden his black supremacist mantra loving preachers, mentors and friends. He has never hidden his deep dislike and hatred for America or his likeminded associates. The words which came from his own mouth clearly stated who and what he was. This is exactly the kind of change I expected and warned everyone about. And this is the "change" we got.

But we still live in the greatest nation on earth. The suns still rises every morning and sets every night. And we still have God, although denied by many, who loves the righteous and will not abandon us. And we still have a political process that will allow us to vote out the traitors in Congress who, despite hundreds of thousands of calls to Congress voting against the Stimulus Package 100 to 1, they rammed it forward before anyone had a chance to read it. And what began as 400 pages turned into 1,000 plus pages. It was posted on the congressional websites around midnight and a vote was forced by Comrade Pelosi the next day. Ditto with the senate. Harry Reid, traitor to one and all, forced the vote there. Barack Obama quickly signed it yesterday, over the objections of thousands of Americans who flooded the White House phone lines, in the hopes that the cries of "gimme, gimme, gimme" would drown out the wounded cries over the death of a republic and the birth of a socialist America. I am sickened just by the writing of it.

But again, we can and will effect change. This is what AmericaC2C is all about. This is what being politically active is all about. This is what my blog two days ago was all about. Stand up, speak up and be not afraid. It is our turn to defend this nation. It is our turn to restore America to the glorious republic she once was. It is our turn to defeat the enemies of America and say: "The American Constitution is a divinely inspired document wholly suited, along with the Bill of Rights, to govern this nation. We have no need of "redistribution of wealth". We have no need of "the federal government poking its nose into every aspect of our personal and business lives". We have no need of someone making our decisions for us."

Barack Obama, if this your idea of "change", and it is. I wholly and completely reject it. Change would have been a president and congress who listened to the American people. Change would have an actual stimulus package instead of a "payback" to all those who got you elected, including $1 billion to groups such as ACORN (Newsmax) who was under investigation in more than a dozen states, and others like them. Oh and Harry Reid's "highstakes gambling train from Disney World to Las Vegas". Oh and the $300 million taken out as a compromise for STD's and all associated with it, was sneaked back in and more than doubled. It goes on and on.

No, I will not stand for this. And no, I will not give up America. This is my country, the land that I love. My country. My home. My right. My privilege. And with all that, also comes my responsibility. Join me, please. Let us take this fight to our towns, cities, state capitols all the way to Washington, D.C. Become informed voters. Don't vote for a smile. Don't vote for a promise. Vote for the person. Vote for what they do, rather than what they say. Understand the issues facing those same towns, cities and states and come down on the side of right. Choose wisely. Choose righteously. And please, choose to fight this fight with me. I am coalescing all my political efforts on AmericaC2C where I have joined with other conservatives who have committed to fighting this fight. From us, will come a roar for freedom so loud it shall reach the heavens.

And this is my promise, from one American to another, we will restore the republic. Socialism will not stand in America.

The definition is almost enough said. But it will be our ideas, and the organizing of those ideas to make them ready to be taken from the “meeting” (America c2c) to the “workplace” (America sea to sea) that will bring Achievement. It is the clear, honest, and concise manner in which we organize ourselves and information that will allow us “to soar.”

1. To act or carry out with success; accomplish.
2. To attain with effort or despite difficulty.

To come together, organize, and perform efficient actions are the components of success and achieving our mutual goals. As a 527 nonprofit organization, we’ll generate and finance everything from information tools (literature, fact sheets, etc) in order to help an informed electorate recover from a disingenuous MSM bent on manipulating an uninformed electorate; to membership aids (cards, brochures, banners, etc); to events and gatherings between members and political officials (new and existing politicians, other organizations, pundits, etc) and the programs and projects to help them. In that, fundraising from the general public and “larger” individual and group donors will be an important Action.

Becoming Politically Active

I've had a number of people ask me how they could become more politically active. As I've tossed out an idea or two to them I began to realize that there were lots of wonderful Americans out there who literally have no idea how to make their voices be heard within their own states let alone in Washington, D.C. It's hard, there's no question. But let me go through a few things that will help you become more politically aware and active. There is no need to do them all, although it is what I do.

1. Become familiar with your congressmen and senators, on both state and federal levels. Pay attention to what they are doing in office and how they are voting on issues. Call or write or email or fax them when you are aware of an issue you have an extreme strong position on. Do not call simply to harangue, but call with substantial information. Meaning, if you're unhappy about illegal immigration, get the stats (they are all over the internet) and call. If you're unhappy with the cancellation of the oil leases in Utah, Wyoming & Colorado, get the information (info on this blog) and call.

2. Use reputable sources to get your information. I am fond of www.foxnews.com, www.truthorfiction.com, www.desnews.com, www.whitehouse.gov, www.senate.gov, www.house.gov, www.archives.gov, www.glennbeck.com, www.seanhannity.com, www.rushlimbaugh.com and many more. Alway double and triple check the information so you can be confident you've got the correct information.

3. If you do not have a personal blog, create one. I am fond of www.blogger.com while others are fierce fans of www.wordpress.com. It doesn't really matter which one you use, just begin a blog. I began mine as a way to share my journey as an author but decided I wanted to write about anything that struck my fancy. Over the course of time, with the onset of the Obama administration, my blog became more and more political. But I also write about life, history, writing, recipes, etc. Whatever is on my mind at the moment. Just be sure to label your blogs so those simply seeking political blogs can click on the politics label and get everything you've written.

When you contact your congressmen or senators, be certain to always blog about the issue and your contact with your elected officials. If they do a great job in communicating with you and addressing your concerns, blog about it. If they do a lousy job, blog about it. The point is, to make your blog a trusted source by being honest, thorough and careful. You'll get haters, ignore them. It just means you're doing it right. By the way, moderate all your comments. Some of those haters are really foul and ugly and those types of comments serve no purpose. I do approve those who oppose what I think, but only if they write it in a calm and concise manner. Ranting and raving doesn't get put through on my blog.

Blogs are very powerful tools and you will notice that every news station and newspaper now have their own bloggers. Some are certifiably insane, witness the New York Times blogger who fantasizes about having sex with Obama, and yes, she wrote it on the NYT official blog. Okay, yuck!

4. Create a personal email list centered around politics. I began mine and it has grown to thousands and continues to grow. Anyone desiring to be added to my political list emails me and lets me know. I have a separate email list for the readers of my books and I do keep those two separate. Email your political blogs to this list as well as important or pertinent information. Do not forward silly emails to this list, keep it strictly political which will mean those on that list will come to trust you not to email them unless it is important.

5. Write letters/emails to the editors of newspapers and news stations addressing your political concerns. Be succinct and thorough. Always post these letters, and any responses you may get on your blog.

6. Contact your local political party and develop a relationship with them. Learn about local and national issues, become involved. Run for office at your local caucus or run for offices within the party administration. Attend your meetings and be faithful to the trust placed in you by those who have elected you.

I am the precinct chair of my Republican precinct. As such, I listen to any and all of the people in my precinct who wish to express their opinions on the issues. Shockingly, very few every call me. I can count the people on one hand who have conversations with me about their concerns. So find out who your precinct chair is and develop a relationship with them.

7. Learn the political process from your local caucus all the way to the white house.

8. Study the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Know them well and understand the reasoning behind the thinking of the founding fathers when they established a republic rather than a pure democracy. (And please no more people pointing out to me that America is democracy, I already know that, trust me.)

9. Study the founding fathers. Learn about them, really learn about them. Don't read those authors whose sole goal is destroy the founding fathers and those who sacrificed so dearly to establish this nation. But read authors who can be trusted to give you the straight scoop. Were our founding fathers perfect? Heavens no? Are you?

10. Create a freedom library in your homes starting with a single book and building from there. I began building mine some time ago and actually wrote a blog suggesting a few books for establishing your own libraries. Study American history and learn about this great nation.

These are just a few things you can do to become more politically active and have your voice be heard. Our voices must be raised, for that is the purpose of this nation. We are to elect wise and righteous officials, tough I know, and then make sure they know how we feel. You cannot complain if you will not stand up, be heard and be counted.

I encourage all of you to become active Americans and realize the greatness of the gift given to you as citizens of this great nation.

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States

Last night I was extremely privileged to attend the local Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. It was an inspiring evening. Perhaps the most eloquent and inspiring speech was given by Attorney General Mark Shurtleff. He spoke about Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States of America, known as The Great Emancipator.

Thursday night marked the 200th year since the birth of this great man. A man whose simple words strike deep in the hearts of Americans with their plain and simple truths.

For instance: "Those who deprive others of freedom are not deserving of it themselves."

These words are powerful and never truer than they are on this day in America when the greatest blow (H.R. 1 1,000 pages of the ugliest legislation to pass through Congress)) to the government set up by our founding fathers has been dealt. From the Times article "What Would Lincoln Do" by David von Drehle we find some insightful commentary about President Lincoln:

"Lincoln lived through two major economic crashes, in 1836 and 1857, and he learned some timeless lessons. He foresaw, in the Union he struggled to preserve, an open, competitive, capitalist, enterprising nation tied together by rapid transportation and communication. He believed that government had a leading role to play in building the infrastructure of a growing economy. But the guiding principle for all of it, the whole reason for the nation's being, was that "equal chance" -- the humble citizen's right to get ahead. Lincoln understood that economic freedom was the bedrock of political liberty. One is not possible without the other...Lincoln exhorts us to take risks. Bet on America. But never lose sight of the goal: economic freedom for individuals -- the right to rise and prosper."

Liberals might twist this to the meaning of Karl Marx's "redistribution of wealth", but Abraham Lincoln intended that the federal government remain within the parameters laid out in the Constitution of the United States of America:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." (The Constitution of the United States of America)

President Lincoln intended there be no restrictions to Americans working hard and changing their circumstances. He knew taxing them into oblivion would stifle growth. The first income tax was instituted under Abraham Lincoln when he needed a way to pay for the Union Armies. The taxes which was levied at that time was changed, and changed again until it was finally rendered unconstitutional. I believe the words: "You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today." Abraham Lincoln

H.R. 1, the anti-Stimulus Package, is the antithesis to that for which Abraham Lincoln stood. This package is attempting to escape the consequences it will render, leaving it for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren to deal with. It is as frankly unAmerican as anything I can think of ... disloyal and disingenuous to those who will be struggling to lift the burden placed on them by the legislators of today, the Democrats and 3 Republicans who sold their party down the river.

President Lincoln intended personal integrity and honesty to drive the American people that they may prosper and grow above the circumstances of their births. He knew dictating every aspect of their existences was dangerous and counterproductive to a strong and successful nation. For he said: "Force is all-conquering, but its victories are short-lived." Abraham Lincoln

President Lincoln would have looked at the situation we now face in Washington, D.C. and said, "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." (Abraham Lincoln) For surely, the Obama Administration and the Congress are drunk happy with power.

On July 10th of 1858, in Chicago, Illinois, Abraham Lincoln said: "Let us then turn this government back into the channel in which the framers of the Constitution originally placed it" and later in that year he added: "Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties. And not to Democrats alone do I make this appeal, but to all who love these great and true principles."

And so I leave you today with the words which formed this nation:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Article. I.

Section. 1.

All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.

Section. 2.

The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.

No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.

Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons. The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct. The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand, but each State shall have at Least one Representative; and until such enumeration shall be made, the State of New Hampshire shall be entitled to chuse three, Massachusetts eight, Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations one, Connecticut five, New-York six, New Jersey four, Pennsylvania eight, Delaware one, Maryland six, Virginia ten, North Carolina five, South Carolina five, and Georgia three.

When vacancies happen in the Representation from any State, the Executive Authority thereof shall issue Writs of Election to fill such Vacancies.

The House of Representatives shall chuse their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.

Section. 3.

The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote.

Immediately after they shall be assembled in Consequence of the first Election, they shall be divided as equally as may be into three Classes. The Seats of the Senators of the first Class shall be vacated at the Expiration of the second Year, of the second Class at the Expiration of the fourth Year, and of the third Class at the Expiration of the sixth Year, so that one third may be chosen every second Year; and if Vacancies happen by Resignation, or otherwise, during the Recess of the Legislature of any State, the Executive thereof may make temporary Appointments until the next Meeting of the Legislature, which shall then fill such Vacancies.

No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.

The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

The Senate shall chuse their other Officers, and also a President pro tempore, in the Absence of the Vice President, or when he shall exercise the Office of President of the United States.

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

Section. 4.

The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

The Congress shall assemble at least once in every Year, and such Meeting shall be on the first Monday in December, unless they shall by Law appoint a different Day.

Section. 5.

Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members, and a Majority of each shall constitute a Quorum to do Business; but a smaller Number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the Attendance of absent Members, in such Manner, and under such Penalties as each House may provide.

Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.

Each House shall keep a Journal of its Proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such Parts as may in their Judgment require Secrecy; and the Yeas and Nays of the Members of either House on any question shall, at the Desire of one fifth of those Present, be entered on the Journal.

Neither House, during the Session of Congress, shall, without the Consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor to any other Place than that in which the two Houses shall be sitting.

Section. 6.

The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.

No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.

Section. 7.

All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States: If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law. But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively. If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return, in which Case it shall not be a Law.

Every Order, Resolution, or Vote to which the Concurrence of the Senate and House of Representatives may be necessary (except on a question of Adjournment) shall be presented to the President of the United States; and before the Same shall take Effect, shall be approved by him, or being disapproved by him, shall be repassed by two thirds of the Senate and House of Representatives, according to the Rules and Limitations prescribed in the Case of a Bill.

Section. 8.

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;

To establish Post Offices and post Roads;

To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;

To constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;

To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offences against the Law of Nations;

To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;--And

To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

Section. 9.

The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person.

The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.

No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.

No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or enumeration herein before directed to be taken.

No Tax or Duty shall be laid on Articles exported from any State.

No Preference shall be given by any Regulation of Commerce or Revenue to the Ports of one State over those of another; nor shall Vessels bound to, or from, one State, be obliged to enter, clear, or pay Duties in another.

No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

Section. 10.

No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

No State shall, without the Consent of the Congress, lay any Imposts or Duties on Imports or Exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it's inspection Laws: and the net Produce of all Duties and Imposts, laid by any State on Imports or Exports, shall be for the Use of the Treasury of the United States; and all such Laws shall be subject to the Revision and Controul of the Congress.

No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

Article. II.

Section. 1.

The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows:

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse the President. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representation from each State having one Vote; A quorum for this purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse from them by Ballot the Vice President.

The Congress may determine the Time of chusing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.

The President shall, at stated Times, receive for his Services, a Compensation, which shall neither be increased nor diminished during the Period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that Period any other Emolument from the United States, or any of them.

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Section. 2.

The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.

Section. 3.

He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

Section. 4.

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Article III.

Section. 1.

The judicial Power of the United States shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services a Compensation, which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office.

Section. 2.

The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority;--to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls;--to all Cases of admiralty and maritime Jurisdiction;--to Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party;--to Controversies between two or more States;-- between a State and Citizens of another State,--between Citizens of different States,--between Citizens of the same State claiming Lands under Grants of different States, and between a State, or the Citizens thereof, and foreign States, Citizens or Subjects.

In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.

The Trial of all Crimes, except in Cases of Impeachment, shall be by Jury; and such Trial shall be held in the State where the said Crimes shall have been committed; but when not committed within any State, the Trial shall be at such Place or Places as the Congress may by Law have directed.

Section. 3.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

Article. IV.

Section. 1.

Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.

Section. 2.

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.

A Person charged in any State with Treason, Felony, or other Crime, who shall flee from Justice, and be found in another State, shall on Demand of the executive Authority of the State from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the State having Jurisdiction of the Crime.

No Person held to Service or Labour in one State, under the Laws thereof, escaping into another, shall, in Consequence of any Law or Regulation therein, be discharged from such Service or Labour, but shall be delivered up on Claim of the Party to whom such Service or Labour may be due.

Section. 3.

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.

The Congress shall have Power to dispose of and make all needful Rules and Regulations respecting the Territory or other Property belonging to the United States; and nothing in this Constitution shall be so construed as to Prejudice any Claims of the United States, or of any particular State.

Section. 4.

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.

Article. V.

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

Article. VI.

All Debts contracted and Engagements entered into, before the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be as valid against the United States under this Constitution, as under the Confederation.

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

Article. VII.

The Ratification of the Conventions of nine States, shall be sufficient for the Establishment of this Constitution between the States so ratifying the Same.

The Word, "the," being interlined between the seventh and eighth Lines of the first Page, the Word "Thirty" being partly written on an Erazure in the fifteenth Line of the first Page, The Words "is tried" being interlined between the thirty second and thirty third Lines of the first Page and the Word "the" being interlined between the forty third and forty fourth Lines of the second Page.

States Must Demand Sovereignty from Federal Government

I had really hoped Obama would give me some time to blog about other things that interest me. You know: Writing, religion, life, fun, recipes ... sigh, but no. He's dismantling democracy as fast as his little fingers fly and lying lips can move. And Congress has happily fallen into line, throwing the Constitution out and ushering in an era of Marxism, or communism as it is known to the rest of the world.

So, for yet another day, I am alerting you to a possible solution to the federal government encroachment on state's rights at every level. Here is an article from WorldNet Daily where 20 other states are using the 9th and 10th Amendments of the Constitution to assert their states' rights:

NEW YORK – As the Obama administration attempts to push through Congress a nearly $1 trillion deficit spending plan that is weighted heavily toward advancing typically Democratic-supported social welfare programs, a rebellion against the growing dominance of federal control is beginning to spread at the state level.

So far, eight states have introduced resolutions declaring state sovereignty under the Ninth and Tenth Amendment to the Constitution, including Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Washington.

Analysts expect that in addition, another 20 states may see similar measures introduced this year, including Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, Maine and Pennsylvania.

"What we are trying to do is to get the U.S. Congress out of the state's business," Oklahoma Republican state Sen. Randy Brogdon told WND.

"Congress is completely out of line spending trillions of dollars over the last 10 years putting the nation into a debt crisis like we've never seen before," Brogdon said, arguing that the Obama stimulus plan is the last straw taxing state patience in the brewing sovereignty dispute.

"This particular 111th Congress is the biggest bunch of over-reachers and underachievers we've ever had in Congress," he said.

"A sixth-grader should realize you can't borrow money to pay off your debt, and that is the Obama administration's answer for a stimulus package," he added.

The Ninth Amendment reads, "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."

The Tenth Amendment specifically provides, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Brogdon, the lead sponsor of the Oklahoma state senate version of the sovereignty bill, has been a strong opponent of extending the plan to build a four-football-fields-wide Trans-Texas Corridor parallel to Interstate-35 to Oklahoma, as WND reported.

Rollback federal authority

The various sovereignty measures moving through state legislatures are designed to reassert state authority through a rollback of federal authority under the powers enumerated in the Constitution, with the states assuming the governance of the non-enumerated powers, as required by the Tenth Amendment.

The state sovereignty measures, aimed largely at the perceived fiscal irresponsibility of Congress in the administrations of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, have gained momentum with the $1 trillion deficit-spending economic stimulus package the Obama administration is currently pushing through Congress.

Particularly disturbing to many state legislators are the increasing number of "unfunded mandates" that have proliferated in social welfare programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid, in which bills passed by Congress dictate policy to the states without providing funding.

In addition, the various state resolutions include discussion of a wide range of policy areas, including the regulation of firearms sales (Montana) and the demand to issue drivers licenses with technology to embed personal information under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative and the Real ID Act (Michigan).

Hawaii's measure calls for a new state constitutional convention to return self-governance, a complaint that traces back to the days it was a U.S. territory, prior to achieving statehood in 1959.

"We are trying to send a message to the federal government that the states are trying to reclaim their sovereignty," Republican Rep. Matt Shea, the lead sponsor of Washington's sovereignty resolution told WND.

"State sovereignty has been eroded in so many areas, it's hard to know where to start," he said. "There are a ton of federal mandates imposed on states, for instance, on education spending and welfare spending."

Shea said the Obama administration's economic stimulus package moving through Congress is a "perfect example."

"In the state of Washington, we have increased state spending 33 percent in the last three years and hired 6,000 new state employees, often using federal mandates as an excuse to grow state government," he said. "We need to return government back down to the people, to keep government as close to the local people as possible."

Shea is a private attorney who serves with the Alliance Defense Fund, a nationwide network of about 1,000 attorneys who work pro-bono. As a counter to the ACLU, the alliance seeks to protect and defend religious liberty, the sanctity of life and traditional family values.

Republican state Rep. Judy Burges, the primary sponsor of the sovereignty resolution in the Arizona House, told WND the federal government "has been trouncing on our constitutional rights."

"The real turning point for me was the Real ID act, which involved both a violation of the Fourth Amendments rights against the illegal searches and seizures and the Tenth Amendment," she said.

Burges told WND she is concerned that the overreaching of federal powers could lead to new legislation aimed at confiscating weapons from citizens or encoding ammunition.

"The Real ID Act was so broadly written that we are afraid that it involves the potential for "mission-creep," that could easily involve confiscation of firearms and violations of the Second Amendment," she said.

Burges said she has been surprised at the number of e-mails she has received in support of the sovereignty measure.

"We are a sovereign state in Arizona, not a branch of the federal government, and we need to be treated as such, she insisted.

We need to stop the federal government. They are completely out of control. And although there are Americans willing to play the roles of sheep and mice, Americans, by tradition, are lions. We fiercely defend our freedom and the freedom of others. We don't allow tyranny to creep in, or at least we didn't used to. It is time for the lions to rise once again and defend America to our last breath.
