Chris Herrod: America's Principle's Restored

I am running for U.S. Senate because it is a critical time for America. We have a small window of opportunity to turn this nation around. Our only chance to avoid economic hardship is to quickly return to the principles upon which this nation was founded. As Patrick Henry stated, “No free government, or the blessing of liberty, can be preserved to any people without a frequent recurrence of fundamental principles.”

We must restore the balance of power back to the States and get back to the founding principles of our government: the US Constitution, the fundamentals of our economy: free-markets and limited government, and the fundamental principles of our society: self-reliance and energy independence.

Unfortunately, our national debt puts us in a precarious position because the world is more dangerous now than ever before and yet Utah has the ability to help solve our economic problems.

Utah has the natural resources to help the United States get out of the financial mess it is in if Utahns are allowed to develop them as they see fit. By developing Utah’s oil shale, natural gas and the cleanest coal in the world, Utah can give the equivalent of a tax break to all Americans by lowering the energy costs and literally fuel an economic recovery. We can reduce the national debt and Utah’s school children will benefit as well. According to Utah’s Enabling Act 5% of all proceeds from public lands sold go to the Utah School Trust Fund. A trillion dollars worth of coal exists in the Kaiparowits Plataea - a region of the Grand Staircase National Monument - this alone would provide $50 Billion to Utah’s school children. Nobody cares about Utah more than Utahns . Utahns will find the right environmental balance if simply given a chance.

Manufacturing is the base of any economy and mineral extraction is the most basic of manufacturing. It provides great middle-class jobs, will keep rural Utah from dying, and will wean us off foreign oil. The U.S. must become more self-sufficient and give less money to those who may not have our best interests at heart.

As others have said, “Chris has proven that he will stand up for correct principles. He has done this overseas, here in the States, and while serving in the Utah Legislature. He has not been afraid to take on the press or the political establishment and will do the same in Washington, D.C. He spoke against the deficit and voted against taking additional stimulus money before it was popular to do so. He had the foresight and courage to warn what would happen if we did nothing to stop illegal immigration and has eloquently explained about the unfairness to potential immigrants waiting in line. He dared call socialism “socialism” before it was popular to do so. He co-founded “The Patrick Henry Caucus” which helped popularized States Sovereignty and has been a consistent conservative.”

State Legislatures are where the major decision affecting citizens should be made. As a U.S. Senator, I will work vigorously to bring power back to State Legislatures so the citizens of Utah can have more influence on their elected leaders. A U.S. Senator’s powers should be limited the constitutional defined responsibilities. I still have work to accomplish in the Utah Legislature and will remain in office, but I will not seek reelection for my Utah House seat. It has been a great honor to serve and I will always be grateful for the constituents of District 62 for giving me the opportunity to serve.

I am appreciative for the service and years of sacrifice of Senator Hatch, but I am afraid that if the status quo remains after this election cycle, Washington, D.C. will go back to conducting business as usual and the latest call for a restoration of the U.S. Constitution will be seen as nothing but another passing fad.

Years ago, I read an article that stated the most important trait to have in a friend is “courage.” I am looking for friends with courage to help me make a difference because I cannot do this alone. Only if elected leaders and the grassroots work together, can Utah play a pivotal role in returning America to its greatness. May God bless this great nation and the Sovereign State of Utah as we seek those with “courage” to stand firm in our beliefs and protect this country for our children and future generations.

Sen. Lee Pays Tribute to Fallen Officer Francom on Senate Floor

Today, Senator Mike Lee spoke on the Senate floor about the tragic death of Utah policeman Jared Francom, who was shot in the line of duty on January 4th. A video of the speech is available here, and a transcript of Senator Lee’s remarks is below:

Mr. President, today I rise with a heavy heart to mourn the loss of Ogden police officer Jared Francom.

Earlier this month, on the evening of January 4th, 2012, Agent Francom was senselessly gunned down defending his fellow officers as they attempted to serve a search warrant in Ogden, Utah. Five other officers – Shawn Grogan, Kasey Burrell, Michael Rounkles, Nate Hutchinson, and Jason Venderwarf – were wounded in the gun battle.

A week later, a crowd of roughly 4000 family members, friends, and supporters, including more than a thousand uniformed officers, gathered at a public memorial for Jared to saygoodbye to one of America’s fallen heroes.

The sentiment from all that knew him was the same: Jared was a devoted family man, a dedicated father to his two young daughters, a fun loving brother and son to his family.

At the funeral, which I attended, I heard Jared’s brother Ben say he “taught people to care for each other and taught others to change the world like he was doing on the streets of Ogden.”

Commenting on the outpouring of support, Jared’s brother Travis said, “I know my brother would be proud, because we all are his family.”

Achieving a goal he’d set for himself as a young boy, Agent Francom became a member of the Ogden police force seven years ago and and was assigned to the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force.

Jared’s sacrifice should be a reminder to us of the incredible risks our brave law enforcement officers all take to protect the people they serve. I have a deep and unwavering respect for the law enforcement community and, as a former Assistant U.S. Attorney, have seen up close how these men and women serve with honor, integrity, and dedication.

Jared Francom was no exception. He will be remembered for giving his life in service to the people and community he loved.

Today I spoke with Bob Stahn (Ed.M, LCPC, ICADC, MAC) and David Ridley (LMFT) of Wellspring Counseling, LLC located in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Turning the Tide: The Preservation of America

Today's show focused on a couple of different areas, Rep. Ken Sumsion's run for the governor of Utah, and Janie Johnson's book Don't Take My Lemonade Stand.

I had the opportunity to really explore Rep. Sumsion's stand on public land use, education, and making Utah a business friendly environment.

“My number one priority as Governor will be to fund education in Utah by gaining access to the trillions of dollars worth of oil and minerals buried beneath our public lands,” said Sumsion. “I am passionate about this fight that would make Utah a leader in energy production, create jobs for Utahns, and benefit all of our children’s education.”

Then I had a delightful 30 minutes with author, Janie Johnson. Her book Don't Take My Lemonade Stand drew praise from industry giants such as:

Professor James Moriarty has an evil plan which ultimately will make him the richest man in the world if he can pull it off. There is only one man, slightly crazy, standing in his way, Sherlock Holmes. What Being a Mormon Means to Me

There are those who have worked or associated with me in the past who have been uncomfortable with my attitude about being a Mormon. Completely unashamed. I do not fear the disappointment of man, but the disappointment of my Savior.

Now with Mitt Romney emerging as the winner in Iowa, which is still stunning considering how high the anti-Mormon sentiment runs there, and with a commanding lead in New Hampshire, the nutjobs are crawling out of the cracks and launching all their anti-Mormon balderdash again.

Representiave Judy Manning of Marietta, GA said in The Marietta Daily Journal: “I think Mitt Romney is a nice man, but I’m afraid of his Mormon faith,” Manning said. “It’s better than a Muslim. Of course, every time you look at the TV these days you find an ad on there telling us how normal they are. So why do they have to put ads on the TV just to convince us that they’re normal if they are normal? … If the Mormon faith adhered to a past philosophy of pluralism, multi-wives, that doesn’t follow the Christian faith of one man and one woman, and that concerns me.” Source

First, let's deal with the basics: The name "Mormon" was given us by people who were not fond of us well over a century and a half ago. We didn't eschew it, but it is not our official name. The name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are Christians, have always been Christians, and only the deliberately ignorant mind would spout that nonsense.

But let us get to the point of this post. What being a Mormon means to me. My matriarchal ancestors joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1832 and followed the saints westward, from state to state, as the First Amendment right of "freedom of religion" didn't apply to Latter-day Saints at the time. Driven from Harmony, Pennsylvania, to Kirtland, Ohio to Independence, Missouri to Nauvoo, Illinois (although my family settled across the river in Montrose, Iowa) and finally to Utah, the saints never found that constitutional right to be available to them. They were driven completely out of the United States and ended up in Mexico (Utah,) until the U.S. purchased the territory from Mexico. Then we were back in America again. That was the story of my great-great-great grandfather and his family.

Fast forward to today, and I am still a strong Latter-day Saint who has studied her faith deeply and understands many aspects others don't, and there is still much for me to learn. But it boils down to this and this alone: We are Christians who live our lives by the principles and precepts set forth in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that eternal salvation can only be gained through Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Unlike many other Christian faiths, we still hold that Jesus Christ is indeed the Son of God, and as such, only His teachings will lead us back to our heavenly home.

In the Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 25:26, we find it summed up nicely:

And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

And our Articles of Faith, which are the basic tenets of our faith, state:

1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.

3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

What in that is there to be afraid of? I ask you, does common sense dictate that there is anything in our beliefs to be scared of?

Yes, plural marriage was practiced in the early church. As it was by Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and forward in biblical times. That practice ceased in the Church by virtue of an Official Declaration issued by Wilford Woodruff, the president of The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints at that time, on 6 October 1890. From that day forward, any new plural marriages were expressly forbidden, because we, as Latter-day Saints believe in being subject " to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law."

My own ancestors were polygamists, but abided by the Official Declaration issued by the prophet and president of our church. However, there was a faction who left the Church because of the cessation of this practice, and those are the polygamists you see today, the descendants of those original pioneers who could not, even would not, abide by the teachings of the current prophet. These people are not "Mormons." They never have been, and most have no intention of ever becoming so.

So, for me personally. I am a Latter-day Saint because I believe in the principles, practices and precepts of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am far from perfect, but I try to follow them every day. I worship my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I worship and pray to my Heavenly Father, whom I believe to be a separate personage, in the name of Jesus Christ, for He is my advocate. And I believe the Holy Ghost inspires, teaches and testifies of truth in the quiet moments of the day and night.

So, to Rep. Manning I ask: What is there in a church dedicated to God, country and family to be afraid of? We have no jihad in the Mormon faith. We do not, nor have we ever, converted by the sword. We do not, nor will we ever, kill anyone for leaving our faith. We are dedicated to the preservation of the above mentioned, and believe it to be worth everything we have to preserve God, country and family. We believe in "loving our neighbors as ourselves," being charitable, helping those in need, strengthening each other in times of trouble and that the family unit, if strong and inviolate, can preserve our nation.

If that's what you're afraid of, then perhaps you ought to resign your position in the Georgia House of Representatives, because you're the antithesis of all that is American. Or, maybe you can educate yourself and correct the message you are sending to the public at large.

Being a Mormon, to me, means standing up for what I believe, never counting the cost. It means I stand on the side of Jesus Christ at all times, even in my imperfection. It means I believe Jesus Christ to be the salvation of our world, and that the path home goes through no other. It means, I am a Christian who is devoted to Jesus Christ, and it will always be so.

So I'm playing around with the Turning the Tide YouTube channel. Very cool, I must admit. We'll see how it all works, but the viewership is continuing to climb and that makes me very happy. More important to me, than anything, is the salvation of the America our Founding Father bled and died for, the Republic of the United States of America.

My show is dedicated to that very thing, the salvation of America, for I cannot face the Founding Fathers upon my death and tell them I was too busy, or that my guy didn't make it through, or America was too far gone before I became aware. I believe, if we as Americans will stand up for what the American ideal stands for, God will aid us in this war for freedom from tyranny. And tyranny is what we will have if we do not remain anxiously engaged in the salvation of America.

Turning the Tide: The Worldwide Persecution of Christians

It was an eye-opening show for me. I had the opportunity to sit down with David Rubin, the author of The Islamic Tsunami and Ben Cohen, a journalist for The Huffington Post and PJTV (and quite a few other publications) to discuss the persecution of Christians worldwide. I was stunned to find, while researching, that 75% of persecutions worldwide are against Christians.

In Bethlehem, arguably the crade of Christianity, Christians have been driven from there. At one point 80% of the city was Christian, with the rule of the Palestinian Authority, it has been driven down to 15%. David Rubin and I discussed this and the status of Christians and Jews in the eyes of Islam.

Then Ben Cohen joined me and we discussed the tragic Christmas Day Massacre in Nigeria. It is an eye-opening show that must be shared with the world. No religion should be allowed to persecute another, or to force conversion or retention. The freedom of religion is a sacrosanct right from God, and we must have a world that allows that for every human being.

The Founding Fathers were Christians, and tied the preservation of the U.S. Constitution and America to always remembering the providence of God.

I’ve heard over and over in the last few months, “What’s happened to the tea party, where are they?” Please don’t paint us with the Occupy Wall Street brush. Let me explain the difference between the two and just where the Tea Party has “gone.”

Let’s take Occupy Wall Street first. A useless, filthy, and now dangerous, movement whose rage is misplaced and grossly misinformed. They’re mad at the banks. Look to Congress. They’re mad at Wall Street. Look to Congress. They want all their student loans forgiven. Look to Congress. They want a free ride … well, all I can say is this: I’ll buy you a one-way ticket to anywhere in the world, help you pack, drive you to the airport and wash my hands of you. Just don’t ever come back. That type of laziness has no place in America.

Newt Gingrich for President?

I am very active politically, as everyone knows. With my own radio show, political activity in my home state, and as a USDR columnist, I’ve been at this a long time. I remember Newt Gingrich when he was the Speaker of the House, and the great good accomplished during that time. I also remember the missteps, like not living up to the promise Congress made to Ronald Reagan if he would grant amnesty to the illegal aliens in America. In case you don’t remember that, Reagan kept his end of the bargain, and Congress welshed on their end. If you want proof of that, look to the war on our extremely porous southern border.

I also distinctly remember Speaker Gingrich being under unrelenting attacks by the left, as he and the Republican controlled house tried to bring America back to fiscal sanity. Yes, he was hit hard by them, and he hit hard back, until it was found out he was in the middle of an affair, and was a serial adulterer. This forced his resignation as Speaker of the House, and Gingrich’s political glory days were over until the 2012 Presidential Race.

KBL Kill Bin Laden is a novel based on the true events surrounding Seal Team 6, actually called DEVGRU (United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group), the Rangers, Delta Force, CIA, and other supporting casts of the team which literally took Osama bin Laden (code name Crankshaft) down on May 1, 2011.

New York Times bestselling author, John Weisman, is more closely tapped into Tier One operatives than any other journalist or author. The author of several books centered around those same Tier One operatives, Mr. Weisman is the one of a select few authors to enjoy spots on both the nonfiction and fiction New York Times Bestseller lists. When Harper Collins contacted Mr. Weisman about writing the story surrounding the take-down and death of bin Laden, he did some research and then told them it had to be written in novel form or he’d never be able to get all the information he needed. He was right.

I’ll be honest. I never, ever, wanted to see this movie, due to the heavy environmentalist garbage message behind the story. But my 5-year-old nephew really wanted to see it. And yes, that sweet little angel has us completely wrapped around his little finger. Alvin planned to sleep through it, and I planned to simply endure it while my nephew watched. Imagine my shock when I actually ended up enjoying the movie. Yes, the environmentalists are hard at work trying to brainwash our children, but the story of courage, perseverance and finding your own talent and voice overpowered the silly message.

Camtica - Could it be the answer for Triple T?

As many of you know, I have been on a constant search for the software that will do what I need. Enable me to record my show, while doing live, capturing my video conversations in Skype. I have tried multiple software and been disappointed, but I am now intrigued but the possible solution to my problems! Camtica is a Screen Recorder Software which may be the answer to my prayers, as it were.

Here's what I was able to find out about the software:

Christmas Eve So Long Ago

I submitted this article for Yahoo Articles! but it was rejected twice because of the title. They loved the article, but we went round and round in the submitting and re-submitting process until it's past the deadline for a Christmas story. So I decided to share it with my blogging, Facebook and Twitter friends. Why let a good story go to waste!

A Christmas Eve tradition goes awry when my father opens his "one" gift. There was no stopping us then!

Christmas is my favorite time of year. The music, the decorations, and the general feeling of the season just fill me right up. One of my fondest Christmas memories takes me back many years to when I was a small girl. Although my parents are long divorced, and my father long gone from this world, this is still one of my favorite childhood memories.

Christmas is rich with tradition in my family. As I grew to adulthood, I brought these traditions with me, and added some of my own. The one that matters to this story is the opening of a single gift on Christmas Eve in remembrance of the three wise men and the gifts they brought to the newborn King.

As children, we always waited anxiously for evening to fall on December 24th. That year, dinner came and went; it always had to come first, much to our consternation. Then we gathered in the living room, and settled down to listen to our father read the Christmas Story from the New Testament (Luke 2.) In the corner, the gaily decorated Christmas tree stood tall, and the many presents wrapped beneath held our attention over the story.

After the story and song, my mother gave each of us a stern look. Apparently our wiggles made her suspicious there was going to be a mass attack on those presents. So, one by one, she called each of us to pick one gift from under the tree, return to where we'd been sitting and wait quietly as it was repeated with each child. Then it happened. Dad picked up his gift and started shaking it. It was small, and no noise was made. My mother chose her own gift and then gave us the nod.

Now here's a critical part to the story. My biological father had an uncanny ability to shake a gift and then know precisely what was in it. This year, my mother was determined to foil him. So, we now continue with the story.

It wasn't exactly mass mayhem. But wrapping paper was flying one way, ribbons the other, and shouts of joy filled the room. My father opened his gift, and it was a box of 38 caliber bullets. He didn't have a 38 handgun. He took one look at my mother and reached for another gift before she could stop him. Well, we weren't about to be left behind so we all dived for the tree and grabbed another gift.

It happened over and over, until finally my father reached for the last box under the tree. It was large. It rattled. It clunked. It was extremely heavy, and he had a look of disappointment on his face. But he unwrapped the gift, opened the box and found it filled with an iron, marbles, corks, clothes pins, and a brand new 38 pistol. Mom won, mostly, because he hadn't been able to guess. The miscalculation was in wrapping the ammunition separately.

There weren't any presents to unwrap on Christmas morning that year. But it has always been one of my favorite Christmases.

I had the opportunity to visit with Timothy Ballard, the author of The American Covenant: One Nation Under God to discuss whether America is under a covenant with Heavenly Father. I, of course, believe that we are. As you all know, I am a devout Latter-day Saint, also known as a Mormon. In addition, I believe deeply that we have sacred duty to defend the U.S. Constitution, preserve America and stand with Israel. I have come under great fire because of these stances, but it does not sway me from my course in the slightest.

Timothy brings an interesting perspective to the debate with his book. I interviewed Timothy on this topic on Turning the Tide with Candace Salima last week. I wanted to share with each of you if you didn't have the chance to watch or listen. It is fascinating.

In addition, more now than ever before, America stands at the precipice. Behind her is the republic outlined in the U.S. Constitution which held her in good stead for nearly 236 years, ahead of her is the rotting corpse of communism being pushed by Barack Obama and his ilk. The Muslim Brotherhood is trumpeting the destruction of the free world, determined to bring us all Islamic control, and Barack Obama is aiding and abetting them. In other words, it's time to make a choice, and to then fight for that choice. For me and my home, we have chosen God and the United States of America ... and that is who and what we will fight to defend.

Is an Article V Amendment Convention the Answer

One has to look at the economic situation in America right now and wonder what will actually turn this behemoth headed for extinction around? I was privileged to interview Senator Curtis Olafson (R-ND) and Rep. Brad Daw (R-UT) about the National Debt Relief Amendment and the Article V Amendment Convention they are calling for. After extensive research I am now supporting this amendment and call to convention.

Listen to the interview, and then post all your questions. Let's get the dialogue out there, dispel the myths and misinformation, discuss the pros and cons, and starting making a difference in this great nation. It is time for the power to be returned to the states, and the federal government to be put back in its place.

Because I have researched this so thoroughly, I will be writing a series of articles on US Daily Review about this amendment, Article V of the Constitution, and everything surrounding it. Believe me, two states have already passed resolutions, 19 more have prime sponsors and several more have expressed interest. This is a very real movement the American people must discuss and understand thoroughly.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to sit down with Jason Buck, congressional candidate for Utah's 2nd Congressional District. I do hope to sit down with each of the candidates, but I began with one of my favorites.

Jason and my husband go way back, football buddies and old teammates. But that is not why I decided to endorse Jason Buck against Jim Matheson. I had the opportunity to visit with Jason, one on one, on the radio of course, to discuss the critical issues facing America today. I didn't tiptoe around them, but asked him straight out on everything I felt was important to know from any candidate.

As you will be able to see, Jason responded with straight forward answers (very refreshing) and has a solid constitutional foundation by which he measures everything. Personally, I'd like to see Jason Buck and Carl Wimmer walking shoulder to shoulder down the hallowed halls of Congress to show those yahoos out there that Utah is nobody's whipping boy anymore.

About Jason Buck

Jason Buck’s family arrived in Nauvoo, IL from England and then moved to Utah shortly afterwards with the earliest pioneers. He was born in Moses Lake, WA, to a family of eight children with a rich farming tradition. When he was three years old his father moved the family to Michigan to farm potatoes and at nine years old, moved again to Adrian, OR. His family then moved again his senior year of high school to St. Anthony, ID where he met his wife-to-be, Roxi.

Failing to be offered an athletic scholarship to Ricks Junior College (now BYU Idaho,) Jason worked at a seed mill for two years in order to pay his tuition. He spent his days lifting grain sacks and his nights lifting weights . Through it all, Jason never gave up his dream of playing college football. Jason and Roxi married in the summer of 1983 and he was offered a scholarship as a defensive lineman at Ricks Junior College that fall where he received All-American honors his first year and National Junior College Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore. He went to BYU for his Junior and Senior seasons where he proudly represented his hard-working and humble family from the small town in Idaho. He was accustomed to being the underdog and wanted to be a premier player in a premier program. He truly became an exceptional leader on and off the field.

Jason became the only Consensus Defensive All-American in the history of BYU and won the Outland Trophy (equivalent to Heisman Trophy.) He was drafted in the 1st round by the Cincinnati Bengals and played for them in Super Bowl XXIII. He finished his NFL career with the Washington Redskins where he won the World Championship in Super Bowl XXVI.

Following a stellar, seven-year career in the NFL, Jason pursued his boyhood dream and bought a 650-acre ranch in Manti, UT to raise his young, growing family. In 2000, Jason moved to Highland, UT to pursue a career in financial services. Because of his public and personal relations skills, this quickly grew to private equity work and structured products, where he worked with many of the top banks in the world.

Since retiring from the NFL, Jason has stayed active in the football world by being a knowledgeable, trusted and popular sports analyst and color commentator for the regional ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX networks; a coach for his children’s teams; and as an owner of the Utah Blaze of the Arena Football League. He is also a motivational speaker where he shares his inspirational and personal story, and the principles of success that he has lived by, to large audiences at universities, corporations and other groups throughout the United States.

Jason’s life has truly taken him from the farm fields of America to laying asphalt with Geneva Rock to finance boardrooms around the world. He personally knows hard work and sacrifice at every level, and he knows how to get a job done. Jason is a great American with an unmatched work ethic.

WalMart Stands Behind its Warranties

The papers and airwaves are rife with how "evil" WalMart is ... but that has not been my experience at all. Last year I purchased a television, and chose to purchase the WalMart warranty as well. I didn't believe I would need that warranty, but it always pays to be careful just in case something happens and the manufacturer doesn't stand behind it's product. Within months of the purchase the power supply on the television went out. I contacted the manufacturer and was sent from phone number to phone number, state to state, and finally out of the country trying to get the company to stand behind its product. But they refused.

I was very discouraged, as the above described process brought months and months of frustration for us. My husband and I got to the point where we determined we would never purchase a single item from that manufacturer again. And of course, me being who I am, I posted it on Facebook and Twitter as well. (By the way, stay away from anything made by Emerson.) As a last resort, we returned to WalMart to ask if we had any recourse, or would we have to wait until Emerson's "year-long warranty," which was no warranty at all, was complete?

WalMart not only stepped up, they mailed a shipping box, prepaid label included, within 2 to 3 days. We boxed up the television and sent it to WalMart's repair center who called as soon as it was received. They called again, 4 days later, to say it was repaired and on its way back to us. They thanked us for shopping with WalMart and hoped we were happy. To say the least, we were ecstatic. We weren't out all that money after all. WalMart did what Emerson would not, and provided excellent customer service.

So thank you to, WalMart. You rock!

I'm so happy about this, and thrilled my mother will be moving closer to either me, or to one of my siblings. What an immense privilege it was to interview the founder of Warrior SOS, an organization dedicated to helping America's soldiers during their toughest times. Jeffrey Denning, a soldier himself, says,

It was such a pleasure to sit down with country music phenom Nathan Osmond and talk music, family and life. He does the legacy proud, no question. We had a fun interview via Skype, which makes all things possible ... most of the time. Nathan has a unique voice which thrills all country music lovers, I invite you to listen to this fabulous young man who is making the world his own.

Nathan is an accomplished singer, songwriter, producer, motivational speaker and has shared the stage with some of the industry’s biggest names. He is the son of 70’s pop star, Alan Osmond.

Ever since he was a child, Nathan remembers growing up on the set of the Donny & Marie Show. The late Bob Hope discovered Nathan and his brothers (The Osmonds 2nd Generation) and gave them their first National television appearance on his Christmas show back in 1986. Since then, he and his brothers have traveled to over 14 different countries, singing in many different languages. He did commercials for the Sumitomo Bank of Japan and served as youth chairmen for the Children’s Miracle Network. He appeared on the front covers of teen magazines everywhere.

During the early 90’s, Nathan and his brothers signed with both Curb Records and Epic/Sony in Europe and have had three songs in the top 40 in the U.K. He has also appeared on MTV, Good Morning America, Live with Regis and Kathy Lee, CBS This Morning, Entertainment Tonight, CNN and other major shows and networks. Nathan has performed to sold-out stadiums and arenas in the U.S., Europe and Asia. He and his brothers won the Golden Bell Award in Taiwan and were voted Branson, Missouri’s Best Young Group of the Year, three years in a row, being inducted into Branson’s Hall of Fame.

Nathan also appeared for two years on the North American tour of the hit musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He was also cast as Charlie Brown in the National tour of Your A Good Man Charlie Brown.

Nathan is currently focused on his solo Country career. He is proud to be releasing his first solo album this year called, “Feels Like Heaven.” Dean Sams of the hit country group, Lonestar. Produced four of the tracks on his album out in Nashville, TN. He finished recording his album in Muscle Shoals, AL with Grammy Award-winning songwriter & producer, Gary Baker. All in all, I am quite intrigued by the States stepping up and reigning in the federal government. I mean really, someone has to, because Congress and the Obama Administration just continue to remain deadlocked. We need serious cuts, which the Republicans want, but the Democrats was serious tax hikes. In the meantime, Barack Obama runs around America playing class warfare accusing Republicans, and conservatives of all parties, of every type of ridiculous charge he can come up with.

The framers of the U.S. Constitution gave the people a path in Article V, and the States are taking that path. Jump on board, people. Between getting the right people in office, righting some of the damage done by the 16th and 17th Amendments, and reigning in the wild spending of Congress, an Article V Amendment Convention is the way to go!

Had a wonderful interview with New York Times bestselling author of The Jefferson Key today. Steve Berry and I talked about writing, books, preservation of history, piracy, the U.S. Constitution and the USO. It was an informative, entertaining and motivating interview. I'm grateful Steve took the time out of his insanely busy schedule to conduct this interview with me.

Here's the fun part! Steve's foundation, History Matters, is specifically for the preservation of history. He is coming to Utah in May of 2012 to conduct a writers seminar, all the proceeds of which will go to the Salt Lake Historical Society. I am very excited to go and learn from one of the best writers out there today, and to contribute to the preservation of history at the same time. Kind of a grand slam for me!

As I've been working the technological quirks out, I interviewed the cast of The Five (on BlogTalkRadio and converted it to video for Livestream, not FoxNews), but five demigods tasked with protecting humanity from those who would destroy them. From their Facebook page I found this description and trailer of the show:

Over 3,000 years ago, Ancient Greece was ruled by beings known as gods. Their superior strength and abilities allowed them to rule mortal man. At first, this was a responsibility that these beings took seriously. Each claimed a stewardship over a part of humanity, a facet of life that they would monitor and maintain. But as time went on, these beings became selfish. As the adoration and worship of the people grew, so did the egos of those known as the gods. By seduction, deceit, or force, many of the gods had children with mortals, blending their DNA and blurring the line between man and deity.

Soon chaos reigned. These powerful beings became spiteful. They turned on one another and used the humans as pawns in their petty games. With no end to the torment in sight, the people of Greece looked to the heroes of legend. Half god and half human, these brave men were all that stood between man and certain destruction. Recognizing what needed to be done, these five men turned against the powerful gods and stripped them of their powers, reducing them to mere mortals.

In one final act of vengeance, Hera cursed the five to a lifetime of servitude. Their progeny would spend eternity sacrificing for the humans their ancestors had chosen. But, in her zeal and anger, Hera’s curse was more powerful than even she had planned. Instead of only cursing those five who had defied her, Hera cursed every being who had a genetic link to the gods. Throughout time, the offspring of the gods, those genetic hybrids, would clash, good versus evil, right versus wrong, caught between deity and humanity, they would never find genuine happiness or peace. They would be forced to hide their true nature and shun the fame that lured many heroes.

Today, many of the descendants of that curse gather at the Alpha Omega Fraternity house at Schills University in Athena, Washington. Established over a hundred years ago, the fraternity offers its members camaraderie, brotherhood, and a place to train and hone their special abilities.

Five current members of the fraternity are more powerful than all the others. Jason, Matthew, Nicolas, Chayton, and Jin have met every challenge life has given them with strength and fortitude. Now, they will come together in an unprecedented gathering of power. With the ability to move things with the mind, fade from one location to another, freeze time, control electricity, and defy gravity, these five men will be a true force for good in the world.

While the storms of evil rise, these brothers will fight for what they know is right. They will defend mankind against those beings who would once again seek to enslave humanity for their own pleasures. As Hera predicted, they will sacrifice and risk their lives to protect the people who have no knowledge of the danger to their way of life. The Five will be heroes in obscurity, attempting to balance the dual nature of their very essence with living a normal life, all the while hoping that the curse can be broken and that one day they will be free.

UPDATE! The Turning the Tide launch has to be delayed until tomorrow, 4 October 2011. Final quirks of the software to be worked out, but we are good to go for tomorrow.

It's been some long, complicated weeks and months in pulling this entire project together. Turning the Tide with Candace Salima, as of tomorrow -- 3 October 2011, is now airing three hours a day, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. MDT/MST.

The journey has been a long, complicated one, without question. It began last August when I was approached to do an internet television show, which quickly grew to being aired on Fox 13 in Utah, etc. Through the next three months, opportunities came and went, we shot eight shows, but the money never materialized and the producer left the show. At that point, we tried a number of avenues, but the show was not able to continue and that was that.

January of 2011 came along and I was invited to be a co-host on KTALK's Buy Back America. It was a volatile partnership with the host, but I enjoyed doing the show until our goals and purposes went separate ways. I am a woman of deep conviction and spiritual nature with a passion to save this great nation to which I was born. The message I had for America differed in delivery from that of Buy Back America, so Tim and I amicably parted ways, and Turning the Tide was created.

Within days of announcing a brief 30-minute weekend radio show, I was picked up by the internet radio station, All Fired Up! Radio out of Houston, TX. My 30-minute Saturday show, before the first one aired, turned into a 2 hour Saturday morning show. As I was ramping up my show, All Fired Up! Radio began ramping up their station, preparing to make the transition from BlogTalkRadio to streaming all their shows on their website. Upon being told it would be ready to go in October, I began scheduling interviews, for the 3-hour show, beginning October 3rd, and there are many exciting interviews coming up.

It turned out, that All Fired Up! Radio wasn't going to be quite ready, so I went into many long conversation with my nephew, Kai Kamai, on how to get the Turning the Tide website ready to stream the show, because I was booked too far ahead to cancel the interviews. We spent the entire last week learning about Reaper software, LiveStream, and what would work best for Turning the Tide. We still have the phone system to work out, but the show is moving forward as plan.

It is complete! And we are ready to officially launch Turning the Tide tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. MDT. You will be able to not only listen to the show, but watch it through a variety of avenues.

A Cause Worth Dying For

Youcef Nadarkhani, a 32-year old pastor, is facing execution today, because he has the temerity to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, rather than Allah. Despite being imprisoned for two years, and subjected to untold horrors and tortures, Nadarkhani has remained strong in his faith, he will not deny Jesus Christ.

In Iran, this is a crime punishable by death, and by the publishing of this article, the good pastor could already be dead, his wife a widow, and his children fatherless. Although, his defense is hopeful the appeals court will give Nadarkhani a full acquittal before it’s too late.

Facebook Data Mining or Big Brother Run Amuck?

Isle of Misfit Politicians

Do you remember that old Christmas cartoon The Isle of Misfit Toys? Well, last week it popped into my head that we need an Isle of Misfit Politicians, only there would be no Rudolph or Santa coming to the rescue. I can think of a number of politicians who would grace this lonely isle. I’m certain it would inspire them to redistribute whatever wealth was available, or build homes for the disenfranchised.

Looking at the political climate, it’s frankly embarrassing to have the likes of Barack Obama prancing around the country pimping his American Jobs Act which is an unmitigated disaster. While catering to others, according to Maxine Waters, Obama called for the Congressional Black Caucus to shut up and put on their big boy pants: “I expect all of you to march with me and press on. Take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes. Shake it off. Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying. We are going to press on. We’ve got work to do, CBC.” Oh no, they didn’t take too kindly to that!

War on the Southern Border

On September 17th I was privileged to interview the director of Border Narcotics Intelligence, a private agency working in concert with law enforcement in our southwestern states. They gather intelligence regarding the drug trade which they then turn over to the effected law enforcement agency. We discussed America’s 3rd War, the war between the Mexican drug cartels, the illegal immigrants, and America. We also talked about the effect this war is having on Americans in every city, county, and state. It was a clarifying interview sparking this article.

The war on our southern border is invading every aspect of American society. It is not just a war between the cartels and the Border Patrol. It doesn’t stay just between drug dealers and drug users. Illegal immigrants, if they aren’t forced into being drug mules or prostitutes, steal their way into America and 71% to 75% of them commit identity fraud. Middle Easterners and East Indians are quickly becoming the favorite of the coyotes. In other words, terrorists have an open entry into America where they will not be tracked. No visas. Nothing. They just purchase a false identity and disappear into American cities.

He then, very wisely, made it available in electronic format, both on his website and on Kindle … and to top it all off, it’s free.

That’s the right price for me, so I immediately downloaded it onto my laptop and Galaxy Tab and started reading. I was not only pleasantly surprised by the thoroughness of the contents, it set a new standard for me in presidential candidates. Let me explain.

The Battle Hymn of the Republic

There is little else in the world that pierces my patriotic heart more deeply than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing The Battle Hymn of the Republic. The majesty and powerful way in which they perform this American hymn reminds me constantly that America was founded on Judeo/Christian principles that cannot be wished away by the liberal left of America.

Listen and tell me you cannot feel the power and strength of the American Spirit ringing through the hallowed fields, prairies, plains, and mountains of America as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings "Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord..."

Ezra Taft Benson, the Secretary of Agriculture under President Eisenhower, said: "I love America. I love the people in this beloved land as well as our Father’s children in all other countries. The Lord decreed that America is “a land choice above all other lands” to those who keep his commandments. We remain here in this land as long as we remain in God’s divine favor."

I have written many times about the Founding Fathers and their deep, abiding belief in God, if not always in organized religion. I believe, with my whole heart, that America's future lies in the ability of her people to turn back to God, or cease to exist as has happened to many other nations.

We have a great privilege, and responsibility, as Americans, to stand as an ensign to the nations, not only of freedom and liberty, but also of God. No matter how many times he says it, Obama is wrong when he states that America is no longer a Judeo/Christian nation. We are, and ever will be.

I was told, not too long ago, that if I wished to continue a particular association, one of the things I had to do was never write anything religious for the public again, let alone on my blog. I was no longer to post religious thoughts or beliefs on Facebook or Twitter. As you can imagine, it took little thought to turn around and walk away. I am ever driven by three things: God, family, and country. And never, ever, regardless of the monetary enticement, will I walk away from any of the three.

The fate of America lies within her own power. First, to accept that we are a Judeo/Christian nation who allows religious freedom, but no longer will tolerate the suppression of Christianity in favor of another religion, or lack thereof, even can we say: "America, O America, thy fate is fickle if the path chosen leads you to unbelief." And we must, with great fervor and acceptance of the sacred responsibility, arise as a people to protect and defend the divinely inspired U.S. Constitution, in its entirety. We must hold to, and protect the Republic of the United States of America, for madness alone lies ahead in the path chosen by Barack Obama and others who agree with him.

So play the song once again, listen to the words of The Battle Hymn of the Republic and realize our fate is within our grasp. Will we survive as a nation, or crumble to dust in the way of so many great nations of the world's historic past? The choice is ours.

America vs. Obama. I recall someone saying to me that Barack Obama was the great uniter. I scoffed, because I’d researched Barack Obama, thoroughly, long before the election put one of the most dangerous men in American history into the Oval Office.

The “great uniter” my friend had called Barack Obama has turned out to be the “Great Divider.” Let’s step back for a moment and look at the entire situation objectively.

I was raised in a color-blind home. Racial epithets were not allowed. And we were taught to see individuals for their hearts, rather than the color of their skin. Then I became an adult.

Barack Obama’s “Obama for America” group has launched a website called AttackWatch. And what this site is supposed to do, ostensibly, it is to provide a place for Americans to snitch on their fellow Americans. Well, to be honest, if I report that Barack Obama is the worst president ever because of his economic, military, constitutional rights, energy, immigration, healthcare policies, then little Obamaites can run to AttackWatch.com and report me. AttackWatch will kindly then provide them all the facts and figures to counter my “attack.” Because to Barack Obama, facts are not acceptable, they are ATTACKS! (His emphasis, not mine.)

Then they decided it would be a brilliant idea to create a Twitter account called @AttackWatch and a hashtag called #AttackWatch. I do believe that’s where their biggest mistake was made.

New York Magazine calls it “Obama assuming a fighting stance with AttackWatch.com website,” I call it the height of ridculousness in an already farcical campaign. And you should have seen it hit the Twitterworld Tuesday night. If Barack Obama thought anyone with an iota of common sense would take this site seriously, he was dead wrong.

An illiterate nation is a third world nation. Yes, the current political climate is insane, the economy even more so. Our southern border is so porous entire classes of criminals waltz back and forth over the border without hesitation, taking over American border towns without a single shot fired. The governors of the border states pay no attention. The law enforcement agencies pay no attention. Our president ignores the situation. These illegal immigrants can’t speak English, let alone read it. But portions of our American government want to give them the right to vote so they can choose that man, or woman, who will give them the most stuff. God forbid they should actually work to improve themselves, their situations and circumstances. How could they start? By learning English, but no, they want everyone to learn Spanish so they don’t have to stretch themselves or their minds. They’ve come to America, learn to read and speak English.

Americans need to start reading. Fiction, nonfiction, I don’t care. Certainly, readers of fiction think outside the box, tend to reach further and accept fewer limitations, but read . . . I don’t care what. (Okay, scratch that. I’d be forever grateful if you would forego Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto. That’s just drivel.) If every American today had read the works of the Founding Fathers, studied the U.S. Constitution and thrown their all into living up to the responsibilities and privileges of being an American we wouldn’t be in trouble right now. However, most Americans haven’t read the U.S. Constitution. Most Americans have never looked past the first few lines of the Declaration of Independence where we told the King of England . . . see ya!

It is not often I sit down and take stock of my life. I know my life’s passions, besides God and my family, are politics and writing. It is what drives me and what fills my soul. The interesting thing? As much as it matters to me is how little it matters to those around me.

Interestingly, 80% of juvenile delinquents are functionally illiterate and yet getting adults to read, showing a good example to their children, is almost impossible. More than 60% of all prison inmates are functionally illiterate. Yet trying to get anyone to listen is like talking to someone blind, deaf and mute.

There are those who would rather play Warcraft, City of Heroes or a multitude of other multiplayer online games and video games then spend time reading to their children. Others would rather play football, basketball, racquetball . . . anything that keeps them from actually having to sit down and read or interact with their families. I’ve heard yet others say they don’t enjoy it and would rather walk over hot coals than read a book. (I’ve had that same reaction to some books too. But there are thousands upon thousands of authors and books. I promise you, if you will look, you’ll find authors you enjoy, and books you cannot put down.) Reading is at the core of all we are, and all we hope to become.

I have a regular mantra, one I end up repeating often because so many seem to be ignoring our past, to our peril:

“If we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.” (Paraphrased from George Santayana)

As much as Barack Obama and his administration want the terms radical Islam, jihad and terrorism excised from the American vocabulary, closing our eyes, plugging our ears and singing la, la, la, won’t make the truth disappear. We are at war.

I will never forget the events of September 11, 2011. I was getting ready for work, and had the news on, as I do every morning. I was just leaving my room when I something that stopped me cold. I turned toward the television in utter horror as they played tape of the first plane hitting the World Trade Center. I sat down on my bed and just watched, tears rolling down my face, and begin to pray for the thousands of people in those buildings.

I wish to extend a word of caution for the current presidential campaign ongoing in our nation now. We have leaders in our conservative movement, others on the fringe of that same movement, indulging in the crucifying of candidates, or potential candidates, in the Republican line-up. Let me tell you a little story.

In my area of the country we were in a hotly contested U.S. Senate race. Senator Bob Bennett, while liked by the rest of the nation, had severely disappointed his constituents in many, many ways. As such, I, along with hundreds of thousands of others, went looking for a candidate they could support against him. Three emerged in that race and the Republican field came down to: Senator Bob Bennett, Mike Lee, Tim Bridgewater, and Cherilyn Eager. I, personally, decided to support and endorse Mike Lee, and worked day and night to get the man elected. Here’s where my story gets to the salient point.

What a political climate this nation has to deal with now. It’s as if everyone who ever read the Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, decided to all jump out of the woodwork and lose their collective minds. To quote Jimmy Hoffa, and what a legacy that one has, as he screamed out to the union audience with Barack Obama hovering off the stage:

“President Obama, this is your army, we are ready to march,” Hoffa said. “But everybody here’s got to vote. If we go back, and keep the eye on the prize, let’s take these son-of-a-bitches out.” Source

No one in the Democrat Party, let alone Barack Obama, is willing to offer an apology for this kind of rhetoric, although they are quick to harp on imagined sleights by conservatives in a heartbeat. It was compromise that got America into the unholy economic and constitutional mess we’re in now. We must return to those principles which made America great. If we do not, if we continue to compromise toward socialism we will be destroyed, and there will be no sign of that America left which was once an ensign to the nations of freedom, liberty, and love of life.

I know that seems a very harsh statement, but it is a stark fact of life which seems to escape all politicians. Compromise in Washington, D.C. seems to be Republicans giving in and giving in until there is no longer a resemblance to the conservative values they once held. We simply cannot main this course, it is unsustainable on many levels.

The Devil Colony by James Rollins, released June 21, 2011, is the latest in his Sigma Force series, and is a page-turner you will not want to put down. Rollins combined nanotechnology, the Yellowstone caldera, ancient and early American history, Native American legend, Jewish history, and gave us a story that takes us on an unbelievable ride through history. He skillfully wove these elements together and then added in Sigma Force and their nemesis, The Guild, and threw the reader right into the middle of the story.

The book opens high in the Uintah mountains of Utah where a long-protected secret is about to be revealed, much to their peril, by two teenagers determined to explore forbidden caves, where they make a remarkable find. And the story doesn’t slow down through 496 pages. I read it in one night and immediately started it over when I finished it.

It is an incredible honor for my new radio show, Turning the Tide with Candace Salima, to already be picked up by All Fired Up! Radio after only two aired shows. Because the station is based in Houston, TX and I am in the Rocky Mountains, I currently call my show into the network there. Right now, that works, but because I have such a high standard for myself, and a desire for a clear crisp sound for our listenership, I had to look for other equipment options.

U.S. Daily Review: To Whom Will We Leave America

Steven and Kathryn Miner, now in their twenties, filed a lawsuit against their mother two years ago, egged on by their father, who is an attorney. The suit was based on “bad parenting,” because…and brace yourself…college care packages were inadequate, homecoming budgets insufficient, and being forced to have a curfew. Source I have to admit, I was left somewhat speechless at the sheer audacity and self-entitled attitude of this woman’s children.

One of my greatest fears in this battle for America we are waging is that we will win. America’s economy will be restored, we will restore a constitutionally-limited government, America’s future will be bright once more, and we will then turn it over to the next generation…who is fond of suing their parents for pathetic and petty reasons. It would seem the battle is lost before it’s ever begun.

“What’s in it for Me?” What an interesting five words, and yet I’ve heard them more in the last five days than I have in a very long time. Sometimes, when we stand for a principle we tend to push aside the “what’s in it for me” for the greater good. That’s how I tend to live my life, and it frustrates my husband to no end. After being in my presence each time those words were uttered to me in the last week, he turned to me and said, “I’m looking forward to the day you learn to say, “no.” He felt I was being taken advantage of, and wasn’t taking kindly to it.

But back to my original point, sometimes it’s not about what’s in it for you, and more about what you can do for others. I helped plan a huge event. I saw amazing opportunities come and go because egos were too big, or there just wasn’t anything monetarily, or recognition, in the event for anyone except standing for a principle. So here’s my question, how did we come to this in America? Oddly, I seem to be asking that question a lot lately.

Hats Off to my BYU Cougars!

I've been a die-hard BYU Football fan since I came to BYU in the fall of 1983. Up until then, I was all basketball! 1984, was of course, a wonderful year for BYU. I even wrote a book about it, 13 and 0: Reflections of Champions.

My husband played defense for BYU, and throughout the years we have had nephews playing almost every year. I try to never miss a game, because not only am I a die-hard Cougar fan, gotta support the family! So here we go, here is BYU's schedule for this year. And I have to be honest, going independent was really good for BYU. We've NEVER been able to get games with teams like this before. Starting out with Ol' Miss. Wow, that's some confidence our guys have! Go Cougars!

Looking at the condition America is in today, one wonders if there is hope for the future of the once greatest nation on earth. With a plummeting stock market, the house market sinking further and further into the doldrums, energy and food prices skyrocketing, it could look dismal … if we don’t look to our history. Although our history is relatively young, it is rich with color, courage, endurance, and yes, even shame at times, but one that delivered the American dream for generation upon generation.

Through it all, even during the toughest times America has ever been through: The Revolutionary War, the crash of the national in the 1800’s, the Civil War, the Great Depression, WWI, WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the unrest and terrorist activity during the 70’s, the tanking economy under the Carter Administration, Americans held hostage, the attacks on American soil on 9/11, the subsequent wars, the downward spiraling economy and ever burgeoning federal government — one could surmise we are the most dismal nation on earth. But nothing, absolutely nothing, could be farther from the truth.

I have to share this video, The Water Park of Terror. My brother-in-law is a hoot! Oh my gosh, the stories he tells. Well, my sister had the video camera on in the car and he shared an experience of when his brothers-in-law went down the waterslide with him ... yeah, there was damage. LOL. Oh my word, I was laughing so hard. So here's your break from politics, just 8 minutes, but ya gotta take 'em where you can get 'em!

Now here's something fun they are doing. Aaron and Heather are holding a contest. Whoever refers the most subscribers (and subscribing to the YouTube channel is FREE) to their YouTube Channel wins this amazing walking stick that Aaron, who is a master carver, carved. Turning the Tide Temporary Schedule

With much thought and discussion, here is the upcoming schedule for Turning the Tide with Candace Salima.

Every Saturday morning I will air a two-hour show on All Fired Up! Radio. This show will discuss, as mentioned before, the issues of the day with a series of guests. All aspects of life in America that will turn the tide toward morning in America again. I am excited to be with All Fired Up! It is an honor to join such a great stable of talk show hosts.

Bea Wilson, who is my producer, is the queen! She is sharp, effective, friendly and quick. Without question, the best producer I have ever worked with and I count myself lucky to be working with her.

All Fired Up! is in the process of transitioning from BlogTalkRadio.com to their own website where the shows will be streamed live directly from their own server. Shows will be provided in both video and audio and it is an extremely fun thing to look forward to. Until that website is up and running, there just isn't room for my Monday through Friday show yet, which I knew when I came on board. It's not going to be bad to have a brief break.

Utah Celebrates Israel, Fortresses of Courage

It hasn't been easy, I'll tell you that much! About every obstacle that could have come our way, has, but tomorrow is the day. It is a day which will be marked in history and citizens all over the world, but especially in America, stood with Israel in defiance of our government clearly stating they prefer the Arab world over our Israeli ally.

Many have asked me why I always stand with Israel, and it is really a very simple thing. I am a deeply religious woman, as such I have studied the scripture and my faith deeply, it has been made very clear by the Lord in various scriptures that to turn on Israel is to bring dire consequences to that nation. More so, the Jews are the Lord's people, whether they recognize Him as their "Messiah" or not. And while other people bleat out anti-Semitism as a mantra, that is something which will never come from heart or my lips.

So tomorrow, I will stand with Israel at Utah Celebrates Israel, Fortresses of Courage. It is going to be quite an event.

I have to tell you, life is changing at such a rapid pace these days I can scarcely keep up, but I'm loving every second of it! Let's go over the changes, briefly:

I'm leaving Buy Back America on Friday. It has been a wonderful eight months and I have enjoyed my time as Tim Aalders co-host. I support 100% the Declaration of Restoration, and will continue to promote however I am able to do so. So much so, I have agreed to be an Ambassador of the Declaration of Restoration. I thank Tim for the time given me on KTALK AM 630 in Utah with Buy Back America.
I've launched my radio show called Turning the Tide with Candace Salima on BlogTalkRadio's All Fired Up! Radio Network. Meaning, my 30 minute Saturday morning show is now two hours and being transitioned, over the next three weeks, to Monday through Friday three hours a day. I'm really excited for my association with All Fired Up! Radio and am looking to great days ahead with them.
I am now a regular contributor to US Daily Review, writing opinion pieces and book/movie/TV reviews. My articles will be published several times a week, and it is an exciting new venture for me.
And last, but certainly not least in any way, shape, or form - I'm now a Mobile App! How cool is that! I find that slightly hysterical but very cool. Apparently, because I don’t whine and cry and use my poverty stricken childhood as an excuse to be a failure in life, I am mistaken for a woman who has lived a charmed life, even born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Nothing could be farther from the truth, but I’m still not going to dwell on it. It does me no good, other than give me the impetus to live my life as my mother did.

Although we had very little growing up, that was not the focus my mother chose to have. Instead, she taught us to read, write and speak proficiently before we ever entered kindergarten. Instead of focusing on how little food was on the table, my mother chose to fill the dinner table with laughter and love. And although she worked full-time, as did my biological father, she always took time to read to us every night, first from the James Herriott series, and then the scriptures. Candace Salima Leaving Buy Back America

On Friday, 26 August 2011, I will be leaving Buy Back America permanently, in order to launch my own radio show, Turning the Tide with Candace Salima, full-time. It wasn't an easy decision, but after a long talk with Tim Aalders, the host of Buy Back America, we decided it would serve the purpose of restoring America better if we were to both be on the air three hours a day, five days a week.

So what's ahead for Turning the Tide with Candace Salima? As you all know, a couple of weeks ago I decided to launch a BlogTalkRadio show. Just 30 minutes every Saturday morning. During that show I hoped to inspire and motivate people to action, but also leave them with the encouragement that no matter how dark the present looks, the future will be bright if we unite in the single purpose of restoring America.

Tim and I fight a lot on the air, that's no secret, well, because Buy Back America goes out to over 1.5 million people across the nation and in the Middle East. I have a more optimistic approach which absolutely drives Tim crazy, as he has a pessimistic approach. With the separating of our personalities, united in the same message but differing in delivery, we both feel we'll be more effective.

On Thursday of last week, I was approached by the All Fired Up! Radio Network and offered a spot in their line-up. After the first show, we began talking about airing Turning the Tide with Candace Salima five days a week, three hours a day. That changed the equation and took some thinking. But ultimately, Alvin and I decided it would be a good thing for all, if I begin hosting my own show instead of co-hosting another.

So stay tuned to this blog, Facebook, and Twitter to know when that show will launch. It's going to take me two to three weeks to pull the whole thing together and get it launched. So you can catch me every Saturday morning, at 9:00 a.m. MDT on Turning the Tide with Candace Salima, and soon five days a week.

And thus begins my last five days on Buy Back America Radio.

It's awesome to just find what I need instead of waiting for the commercial to come back around. I've picked up some great stuff here!

So here we are, Saturday morning and I am prepping for the first airing of Turning the Tide with Candace Salima! Two days ago, my weekend show, which hadn't even begun, was added to the All Fired Up Radio! network of radio shows, joining other great hosts such as James S. Robbins, Sheryl Devereaux, Bea Wilson and more! My 30 minute radio show went from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Faith in America, From My Viewpoint

As the presidential campaign season kicks off in earnest, attacks on the faith of Latter-day Saint members has begun in earnest. This is a never ending thing with Latter-day Saints. Although we are devout Christians, other faiths claim to know better than we ourselves do, and proclaim we are not Christians. Others reach way out into fantasy land and draw comparisons between despicable current figures and ancestors of long ago. I feel the need to point some very basic things out, try to correct before things get totally out-of-control, again.

We have two Latter-day Saints, commonly known as Mormons (the faith so named by someone who was not a Latter-day Saint, but the handle stuck,) in the 2012 Presidential race, Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman. As such, let's go over who Latter-day Saints REALLY are, as opposed to what people really wish we were.

We are devout Christians. Our 1st Article of Faith reads:

"We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. "

People tend to take this statement and assign it all sorts of meanings that aren't there. Yes, we believe Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are three distinct and separate personages. Yes, we believe Jesus Christ to be the literal Son of our Heavenly Father.

And yes, personally, logic dictates they are three separate beings because otherwise, how to explain "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased," when Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist. Was He a ventriloquist, or was He hearing from Heavenly Father?

Moreso, who was Jesus praying to in the Garden of Eden, Himself? I submit it was a proud Heavenly Father speaking to His Son, our Lord and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. I submit that Jesus Christ was petitioning His Father for the strength, courage, and endurance to survive what was He enduring at the moment, and what was to come.

And even more, I submit that as our Savior hung on the cross in untold agony, the words which came from the heavens, and He said, "My God, My God, why has thou forsaken me?" He was petitioning His Father in Heaven as to why He had to suffer this alone.

But as to our Savior, Jesus Christ, what do Latter-day Saints believe?

In the Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 25:26 we read:

And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

So may I submit, as I am a Latter-day Saint and I should know, that we are indeed devout Christians who understand that Jesus Christ is our Savior, the God of this world, the literal Son of our Heavenly Father, and that there is no other path back to our Father in Heaven except through the path given us by Jesus Christ.

The other pertinent point that seems to bedevil us unceasingly, is polygamy. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not practice polygamy, nor have we done so since 1890. Those who do practice polygamy, if members of the Church, are excommunicated if they will not renounce the practice.

There are many break-offs sects who chose to keep living a polygamous lifestyle, which has emerged into a corrupt and despicable practice often preying on the young and vulnerable. There is no comparison to the Church sanctioned polygamous marriages of history, and the predators who live among us today. I wholly, and completely, condemn polygamy in this modern day and age. It is not legal. It is not approved, condoned, or accepted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Like many Latter-day Saints of pioneer heritage, I had a great-great grandfather who was a polygamist. And yes, there came a point when he fled, with those who would come with him, to the colonies just south of the Mexican border to avoid being imprisoned. The great-great grandmother I descend through chose to remain in the United Sates, hence the beautiful gift I have of being born, and raised, an American.

And that brings us to Faith in America. In this time of great unease because of the actions of Barack Obama and many he surrounds himself with, faith is utmost in the minds of most Americans. Despite Obama's proclamation that we are no longer a Judeo/Christian nation, he is dead wrong. We were established as a Judeo/Christian nation, and we remain one today.

In George Washington's Farewell Address of September 1796, Washington called religion, as the source of morality, "a necessary spring of popular government," while John Adams claimed that statesmen "may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand."

"The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God." -John Adams wrote this on June 28, 1813, in a letter to Thomas Jefferson

"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever; That a revolution of the wheel of fortune, a change of situation, is among possible events; that it may become probable by Supernatural influence! The Almighty has no attribute which can take side with us in that event." -Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII, p. 237

"Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual. ... Continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us." -John Hancock, History of the United States of America, Vol. II, p. 229

"Here is my Creed. I believe in one God, the Creator of the Universe. That He governs it by His Providence. That He ought to be worshipped.

"That the most acceptable service we render to him is in doing good to his other children. That the soul of man is immortal, and will be treated with justice in another life respecting its conduct in this. These I take to be the fundamental points in all sound religion, and I regard them as you do in whatever sect I meet with them.

"As to Jesus of Nazareth, my opinion of whom you particularly desire, I think the system of morals and his religion, as he left them to us, is the best the world ever saw, or is likely to see..." -Benjamin Franklin wrote this in a letter to Ezra Stiles, President of Yale University on March 9, 1790

So there we have George Washington, John Adams, John Hancock, and Benjamin Franklin, just to name a few of the very prominent Founding Fathers, clearly stating they are not only Christian, but that America was founded on Judeo/Christian principles and values.

For myself, I can only say that I love, worship, and adore my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I can say only that I truly follow Him and through Him will I only find eternal life. In addition, I count myself blessed beyond all measure that I was born in the United States of America, a gift which I treasure, care for, fight for, and understand the privileges and responsibilities that came with that birth as an American citizen.

America cannot, nor is it capable of, surviving without the influence of Christianity and the God of our world, Jesus Christ. Those who would malign the Founding Fathers as being atheists, clearly have not studied history enough to know that 24 of the 56 held seminary or Bible degrees. Nor have they read the writings of our Founding Fathers to discover for themselves what influences were wrought upon them as they crafted the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Atheists? I think not.

Michele Bachmann Wins the Iowa Straw Poll

Although I believe the Ames Iowa Straw Poll to be horribly compromised by the machinations of politicians, I still am feeling an odd excitement that Michele Bachmann is the first woman in the history of the poll to have won. That's quite an accomplishment. For it to be a strong, conservative woman, no less, is astonishing.

However, I no more believe a person should be voted for because of their sex than their color, only their policies and voting records. If you're the man I co-host Buy Back America with, Tim Aalders, then you follow the money too. Michele Bachmann has been a favorite of mine since she first arrived in Congress. She has consistently come down on the right side of every vote that I have tracked.

And the Ames Iowa Straw Poll? Well, it became such because Iowans had an uncanny knack for picking the winner of presidential races. However, once the politicians figured that out, they started scheming. They bring people in by the busload until there are so many who are not from Ames, Iowa, that the result is no longer important.

Not to mention, Mitt Romney, the GOP frontrunner didn't compete in the Iowa Straw Poll, so it's difficult to say who really would have won, and will yet win on November 6, 2012.

But all that aside, congratulations to Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, you have made history tonight. The fact that you a strong, conservative woman just makes this victory all the sweeter. Savor the moment, you have earned it.

The Ames, Iowa Republican Debate

It was an interesting evening, to say the least. The first thirty minutes were pretty much an all out war between Tim Pawlenty and Michele Bachmann. In all honesty, I'm going to declare Michele Bachmann the winner of that little war within a war!

Anyway, I did a play by play on Facebook and then read back over everything. People are commenting left and right and everyone has their opinion, but I'd like to talk about why debates are so necessary.

With a field as large as the Republican field is, we need to get it whittled down and whittled down quickly. Barack Obama, our extremely lame president, is gathering money to take on the winner of the Republican primary. In the meantime, Republicans are attacking each other instead of attacking the culprit, Barack Hussein Obama. Many of them need to regroup and consider who the enemy is, and it's not each other. Don't poison the well so much that the winner of the frontrunner is so poisoned by our own people they will not be able to win. All I'm asking is you exercise some common sense and looking beyond your noses. Notice that Mitt Romney and Herman Cain focused on Barack Obama and America.

We must unite behind the Republican winner, whomever that may be. To be frank, any of them are better than Barack Obama, who is so far out of his league he's killing America faster and quicker than anyone else who has ever been president. Fortunately for us, the American people are catching on quickly and we are all working to make Barack Obama a one-term president. We can only do that if these candidates do not destroy each other in the process. Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain handled that the best tonight. Although Mitt Romney was the only one who remained above the fray and stuck to the issues.

Here is how I felt each candidate did tonight, in order of who won and who lost their campaigns tonight.

Mitt Romney - Romney's closing statement was "This country is an economic crisis and America understands that. We have a leader, a man who is out of his depth, and can't get the economy going again. I believe we need someone who is willing to go to work, believes in America, free enterprise, capitalism, opportunity, and I love America." It struck a chord with many, and that is what needed to be done.

Tonight Mitt Romney was cool under fire. He answered every question, and attack, concisely and firmly. He addressed every issue with good, solid answers. He didn't dodge anything. There is no issue he didn't understand, have the facts with and clearly state them. He said that we need to reign back the scale of government, and he's right. I agreed with everything he said tonight. I thought he was the clear winner of the debate.

Now, I know his history, his record. Mitt Romney is not as conservative as I would wish, but as he has grown older, wiser, he has become more conservative and has a clear understanding of what is appropriate within the states and what is not appropriate with the federal government. All in all, I think he won, hands down.

Michele Bachmann - I thought she did a good job tonight. Tim Pawlenty clearly came gunning for her and I thought he showed himself to be extremely low class in his attacks on her. There are ways to disagree without attacking her. Now to her responses, they were consistent with her stances and votes. She's been a strong conservative in her votes, and I think has shown leadership on a number of subjects. I like Michele Bachmann, she is passionate in her views and she also handled the attacks under fire very well.

One of Michele's best moments was when she said, ‎"It was important we not raise the debt ceiling. The Congress gave Obama a blank check for $2.4 trillion. What did the American people get? $21 billion in cuts. The trillions of dollars we have in U.S. debt is madness. The worst thing you could do is to spend money we don't have. S&P dropped our credit rating and said we don't have the ability to repay our debt. I was proved right in my position, we should have cut government spending."

Herman Cain - He had some good solid answers tonight. Good ideas all over the place. I liked his responses all the way around, I'm not 100% sold that he could be president, but I do think he came in third tonight. He is a good businessman and has pulled companies out of near bankruptcy and made them successful again. He is popular with the tea party because he is not a career politician. He was challenged on what the Chris Wallace termed "several controversial statements." Maybe Chris hasn't heard, but I have, Mr. Cain addressed them all several times, and he did so again tonight, very succinctly.

His best statement was, "America needs a leader and a uniter. I represent growth. If we don't get this economic engine going by putting fuel in the engine, the rest of it won't matter. We have a lot on the line, send Washington a message and send a business problem solver to D.C."

Rick Santorumi - Rick comes next because, when he did get to speak, he addressed the questions with passion, understanding of government, and the extreme challenges we face as a nation. However, he didn't quite sell me on his leadership skills because he catered to Iowa, rather than addressing America. I think that was a big mistake. However, he had a very solid foreign policy and a good understanding of the dangers we face as a nation, unlike Ron Paul.

Rick's brightest moment was when he said, in defense of the unborn, "SCOTUS said a man who committed rape could not be subject to the death penalty, but a child conceived as a product of that rape, could be. That child did nothing wrong. That child is an innocent victim. A child is an innocent human life, and life begins at conception."

Newt Gingrich - Newt had one or two bright moments, one of which was "‎Having some kind of central bank is an important part of dealing with monetary policy in the world. But having Bernanke deal with hundreds of billions of dollars, in some cases, trillions, is insanity. The Fed should be audited, it should be transparent. Frankly, their monetary policy has been a major factor in the bubble that was created and the economic pain we're going through now."

That being said, Newt Gingrich was a very angry man tonight. He yelled at the moderators, didn't want to answer the questions asked of him and wanted to answer others. He was very dismissive of every one on the stage. As he got angrier and angrier, he clearly showed he does not have the temperament of being POTUS. I think he lost the debate tonight because he didn't have the patience to answer the questions, and address what was being asked.

Ron Paul - While Ron Paul has some solid ideas on the Federal Reserve and a clear understanding of the U.S. Constitution, although I think he takes some of them too far, he once again showed that he is clearly out of his mind on foreign relations. He does not understand the dangers of the radical Islamic mind. He does not understand how dangerous Ahmadinejad is, as Paul said he wouldn't prevent Iran from having nuclear weapons. He also continued to say that if we just left everyone alone and lived in peace and liberty, everything would be okay. I'm going to guess the man has never run across the path of a despot, dictator, or madman, or he would never say anything so asinine. Ron Paul was the clear loser in every single way tonight.

With all that being said, I still believe any one of these people would be leaps and bounds better than Barack Obama. One thing is absolutely certain, if Barack Obama wins another term you can kiss the America we know and love goodbye. That is unacceptable to me and why I dedicate so much of my time informing, inspiring and motivating others to get involved, and begin making a difference within the circles of their own influence.

So those are my personal summaries for tonight's debate. Others will not agree, but then this is my blog and my opinion. So there you have it!

Mitt Romney: Faith in America

Mitt Romney did an interview with the extremely liberal British talk show host, Piers Morgan. Piers really hammered him on the Mormon religion, and Mitt took the stance of John F. Kennedy. On our radio show today we talked about different presidential candidates. Tim really has a problem with Mitt not clearly stating where he stands on issues and how they would or would not effect him if he is the next U.S. president.

And let me state very clearly right now, I have not chosen a presidential candidate to support yet. When I do, I will post it on this blog, but until then, I will continue to straighten things out as they come up. I'm really BIG on having no misinformation about any of the candidates.

So I started digging and located the transcript of Mitt Romney's Faith in America speech. I read through it again and feel it bears posting so that people understand where Governor Romney stands on this issue.

The following is a transcript (as prepared for delivery) of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's speech "Faith in America," delivered Thursday at the George Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas. Romney discussed his views on religious liberty, religious tolerance and how faith would inform his presidency. The speech begins with Romney addressing former President George H.W. Bush, who introduced the former governor.

Romney: Thank you, Mr. President, for your kind introduction.

"It is an honor to be here today. This is an inspiring place because of you and the first lady, and because of the film exhibited across the way in the Presidential library. For those who have not seen it, it shows the President as a young pilot, shot down during the Second World War, being rescued from his life-raft by the crew of an American submarine. It is a moving reminder that when America has faced challenge and peril, Americans rise to the occasion, willing to risk their very lives to defend freedom and preserve our nation. We are in your debt. Thank you, Mr. President.

"Mr. President, your generation rose to the occasion, first to defeat Fascism and then to vanquish the Soviet Union. You left us, your children, a free and strong America. It is why we call yours the greatest generation. It is now my generation's turn. How we respond to today's challenges will define our generation. And it will determine what kind of America we will leave our children, and theirs.

"America faces a new generation of challenges. Radical violent Islam seeks to destroy us. An emerging China endeavors to surpass our economic leadership. And we are troubled at home by government overspending, overuse of foreign oil, and the breakdown of the family.

"Over the last year, we have embarked on a national debate on how best to preserve American leadership. Today, I wish to address a topic which I believe is fundamental to America's greatness: our religious liberty. I will also offer perspectives on how my own faith would inform my presidency, if I were elected.

"There are some who may feel that religion is not a matter to be seriously considered in the context of the weighty threats that face us. If so, they are at odds with the nation's founders, for they, when our nation faced its greatest peril, sought the blessings of the Creator. And further, they discovered the essential connection between the survival of a free land and the protection of religious freedom. In John Adams' words: 'We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion... Our constitution was made for a moral and religious people.'

"Freedom requires religion just as religion requires freedom. Freedom opens the windows of the soul so that man can discover his most profound beliefs and commune with God. Freedom and religion endure together, or perish alone.

"Given our grand tradition of religious tolerance and liberty, some wonder whether there are any questions regarding an aspiring candidate's religion that are appropriate. I believe there are. And I will answer them today.

"Almost 50 years ago another candidate from Massachusetts explained that he was an American running for president, not a Catholic running for president. Like him, I am an American running for president. I do not define my candidacy by my religion. A person should not be elected because of his faith nor should he be rejected because of his faith.

"Let me assure you that no authorities of my church, or of any other church for that matter, will ever exert influence on presidential decisions. Their authority is theirs, within the province of church affairs, and it ends where the affairs of the nation begin.

"As governor, I tried to do the right as best I knew it, serving the law and answering to the Constitution. I did not confuse the particular teachings of my church with the obligations of the office and of the Constitution - and of course, I would not do so as president. I will put no doctrine of any church above the plain duties of the office and the sovereign authority of the law.

"As a young man, Lincoln described what he called America's 'political religion' - the commitment to defend the rule of law and the Constitution. When I place my hand on the Bible and take the oath of office, that oath becomes my highest promise to God. If I am fortunate to become your president, I will serve no one religion, no one group, no one cause, and no one interest. A president must serve only the common cause of the people of the United States.

"There are some for whom these commitments are not enough. They would prefer it if I would simply distance myself from my religion, say that it is more a tradition than my personal conviction, or disavow one or another of its precepts. That I will not do. I believe in my Mormon faith and I endeavor to live by it. My faith is the faith of my fathers - I will be true to them and to my beliefs.

"Some believe that such a confession of my faith will sink my candidacy. If they are right, so be it. But I think they underestimate the American people. Americans do not respect believers of convenience.

Americans tire of those who would jettison their beliefs, even to gain the world.

"There is one fundamental question about which I often am asked. What do I believe about Jesus Christ? I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind. My church's beliefs about Christ may not all be the same as those of other faiths. Each religion has its own unique doctrines and history. These are not bases for criticism but rather a test of our tolerance. Religious tolerance would be a shallow principle indeed if it were reserved only for faiths with which we agree.

"There are some who would have a presidential candidate describe and explain his church's distinctive doctrines. To do so would enable the very religious test the founders prohibited in the Constitution. No candidate should become the spokesman for his faith. For if he becomes president he will need the prayers of the people of all faiths.

"I believe that every faith I have encountered draws its adherents closer to God. And in every faith I have come to know, there are features I wish were in my own: I love the profound ceremony of the Catholic Mass, the approachability of God in the prayers of the Evangelicals, the tenderness of spirit among the Pentecostals, the confident independence of the Lutherans, the ancient traditions of the Jews, unchanged through the ages, and the commitment to frequent prayer of the Muslims. As I travel across the country and see our towns and cities, I am always moved by the many houses of worship with their steeples, all pointing to heaven, reminding us of the source of life's blessings.

"It is important to recognize that while differences in theology exist between the churches in America, we share a common creed of moral convictions. And where the affairs of our nation are concerned, it's usually a sound rule to focus on the latter - on the great moral principles that urge us all on a common course. Whether it was the cause of abolition, or civil rights, or the right to life itself, no movement of conscience can succeed in America that cannot speak to the convictions of religious people.

"We separate church and state affairs in this country, and for good reason. No religion should dictate to the state nor should the state interfere with the free practice of religion. But in recent years, the notion of the separation of church and state has been taken by some well beyond its original meaning. They seek to remove from the public domain any acknowledgment of God. Religion is seen as merely a private affair with no place in public life. It is as if they are intent on establishing a new religion in America - the religion of secularism. They are wrong.

"The founders proscribed the establishment of a state religion, but they did not countenance the elimination of religion from the public square. We are a nation 'Under God' and in God, we do indeed trust.

"We should acknowledge the Creator as did the Founders - in ceremony and word. He should remain on our currency, in our pledge, in the teaching of our history, and during the holiday season, nativity scenes and menorahs should be welcome in our public places. Our greatness would not long endure without judges who respect the foundation of faith upon which our constitution rests. I will take care to separate the affairs of government from any religion, but I will not separate us from 'the God who gave us liberty.'

"Nor would I separate us from our religious heritage. Perhaps the most important question to ask a person of faith who seeks a political office, is this: does he share these American values: the equality of human kind, the obligation to serve one another, and a steadfast commitment to liberty?

Americans were unable to accommodate their commitment to their own faith with an appreciation for the convictions of others to different faiths. In this, they were very much like those of the European nations they had left.

"It was in Philadelphia that our founding fathers defined a revolutionary vision of liberty, grounded on self evident truths about the equality of all, and the inalienable rights with which each is endowed by his Creator.

Raised up over generations, long ago, so many of the cathedrals now stand as the postcard backdrop to societies just too busy or too 'enlightened' to venture inside and kneel in prayer. The establishment of state religions in Europe did no favor to Europe's churches. And though you will find many people of strong faith there, the churches themselves seem to be withering away.

"Infinitely worse is the other extreme, the creed of conversion by conquest: violent Jihad, murder as martyrdom... killing Christians, Jews, and Muslims with equal indifference. These radical Islamists do their preaching not by reason or example, but in the coercion of minds and the shedding of blood. We face no greater danger today than theocratic tyranny, and the boundless suffering these states and groups could inflict if given the chance.

The diversity of our cultural expression, and the vibrancy of our religious dialogue, has kept America in the forefront of civilized nations even as others regard religious freedom as something to be destroyed.

In such a world, we can be deeply thankful that we live in a land where reason and religion are friends and allies in the cause of liberty, joined against the evils and dangers of the day. And you can be certain of this: Any believer in religious freedom, any person who has knelt in prayer to the Almighty, has a friend and ally in me. And so it is for hundreds of millions of our countrymen: We do not insist on a single strain of religion — rather, we welcome our nation's symphony of faith.

Recall the early days of the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia, during the fall of 1774. With Boston occupied by British troops, there were rumors of imminent hostilities and fears of an impending war. In this time of peril, someone suggested that they pray. But there were objections. They were too divided in religious sentiments, what with Episcopalians and Quakers, Anabaptists and Congregationalists, Presbyterians and Catholics.

Then Sam Adams rose, and said he would hear a prayer from anyone of piety and good character, as long as they were a patriot. And so together they prayed, and together they fought, and together, by the grace of God, they founded this great nation.

In that spirit, let us give thanks to the divine author of liberty. And together, let us pray that this land may always be blessed with freedom's holy light.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Mike Lee responded to S&P lowering the long held AAA rating for the UThe Freedom Agenda: Why a Balanced Budget Amendment is Necessary to Restore Constitutional Governmentnited States saying, “This downgrade confirms what we have known was coming, but have chosen to ignore, for a long time. This downgrade further confirms that the true threat to our country, our economy and our way of life is our debt and the continued deficit spending Washington and the current administration are pursuing.”

For the first time ever the United States does not hold a AAA rating. The impact could be felt in numerous ways including higher interests rates for car, home or student loans along with credit card rates. Lee then stated, “Unfortunately, when it comes to the significant financial challenges this country faces, we have been swatting at the branches and symptoms issue instead of attacking the root and core causes. Never has there been a greater need for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution – to ensure we get our fiscal house in order, reduce our debt, and get Washington to live within its means.”

Calling on his colleagues in the House and Senate along with the Administration and Americans across the country Lee said, “The answer to our economic challenges lies within a simple concept most Americans and most states understand and live by – balance your checkbook and don’t spend more than you bring in. This is not a liberal or conservative issue, it isn’t a Democrat or Republican issue – it is an American issue. If ever there were a time for Americans and members of Congress to have an open debate and dialogue about the future of our country, that time is now. Liberal Response to the Loss of American Heroes

I'm pretty active on Twitter now, because I can directly follow so many of the news sources, not to mention our elected officials (all of Congress as well as Barack Obama) as well as gauge the response from Americans, coast to coast. As such, I clicked on a Huffington Post link about the loss of thirty of our brave Navy SEALs and read through the article. It was rather convoluted, but where my disgust and revulsion came in was when I was reading through the 10,000 plus comments.

Here's one, as an example:

AndyWright68 -"Why to go tyrants! Keep that body count climbing! Your supporters are ready to run to the polls to keep the human slaughter chugging along! Hooray, statism!"

I copied it exactly, so the spelling errors are his, not mine. However, the comments ranged from this to utterly horrible, to incredibly ignorant.

Voltaire911 How is the freedom of Americans threatened by barefoot goat herders in Afghanistan?

For myself, I am greatly saddened by the loss of our American soldiers, heroes in my mind. I have prayed, day and night, for the families, friends, and team members. So I posted my own response to the Huffington Post article. And of course, the responses to my response began being added, you can well imagine how they went. The Huffington Post limits how long your response can be, as do all other papers, so I didn't get to include the entire comment, I am adding the rest here:

My thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones and friends of the men who died in Afghanistan. It breaks my heart to lose even one American soldier, let alone 30. These soldiers leave their families, homes, and jobs and travel where they are ordered.

Navy SEALs, in particular, are highly trained to operate in a number of scenarios and are amongst the toughest men in the world. Navy SEAL Team 6 is not comprised only of 5 to 10 men. It is a unit with multiple teams within it, often serving in different parts of the world at the same time.

It is apparent to me a quick history lesson is needed. On September 11, 2001 America was attacked. Over 3,000 civilians were killed when hijacked planes flew into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon early that fall morning. Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda, quickly claimed responsibility. Arabs danced and celebrated in the streets, including the streets of America.

George Bush issued a warning to Afghanistan and the world, "Turn over Osama bin Laden. If you are not with us, you are against us." The first weekend in October 2001, America invaded Afghanistan and brought the full weight and might of the American military, the greatest military force in the world, down upon Afghanistan. Osama bin Laden slipped away, as he was wont to do, and left his forces to die at the hands of the American military. The Taliban sided with Al Qaeda and the U.S. military toppled their government.

The Taliban was a brutal and vicious government. Women were, and still are, horribly abused by those who should protect and love them. They are brutalized daily and the liberal left embraces those animals and calls America the aggressor. The Taliban made their bed, now they had to face the consequences. It wasn't pretty.

Where we ran into trouble was when we turned our military from the greatest fighting force in the world, to nation builders and hamstrung them in the war zone. When Barack Obama became president, God save us, he immediately issued the order that our soldiers were not to shoot first, they were to read the Miranda Rights to the enemy. At every quarter, Obama restricted what our troops could do, but refused to bring them home.

With all that being said, it breaks my heart to read, or hear, any American cheering the loss of these soldiers lives. They are sons, brothers, uncles, husbands, and fathers. They have family and friends who love them, and whose lives are now torn apart--never to be fully healed. They need our support, not our ridicule or vitriol.

I ask that you remember these Navy SEALs are Americans who laid their lives on the line for you. They fought for their country and to keep their families safe. You are the recipient of that love and loyalty to country and family. They are gone, and it would be better to pray for those left behind than ridicule why they are there.

I am not one who can ever understanding disdain or hatred toward the U.S. military. For me, they are heroes. Brave men and women who daily lay their lives on the line in order to preserve the U.S. Constitution and America. They fight for each other, per one soldier, and to keep their families safe. Largely, they have a devotion to the Corp and America rarely paralleled by any other in this great nation.

So I close with this, let us be grateful for them, pray for them and their loved ones, and live our lives worthy of the great sacrifice they've made:

Greater love hath no man than this, that

a man lay down his life for his friends.

(New Testament, John 15:13)

They fight, and die, so that we might have the liberty and freedoms we enjoy here in America. Those very liberties and freedoms are under attack. So as our military goes into harms way, 24/7, let us, at minimum, become an actively, anxiously engaged citizenry, protecting the U.S. Constitution and our nation here at home while they fight abroad.

It is the very least we can do.

What Now? The Debt Debacle continues to spiral downward.

China currently owns $1.1 trillion of U.S. debt, I am certain that's about to go up to $3.5 trillion as Obama turns to his favorite creditor to get more money for his programs.

As of April of 2011, US Treasury bonds owned overseas accounted for $4.5 trillion of the national debt - up 10% on June last year. The U.S. now owes over $14.5 trillion. (We owed $7.8 trillion in 2005, to an exploding $14.5 trillion as of today.) China is the biggest owner of U.S. Treasury bonds - over $1.152 trillion by April this year - up 4% on last year. And what is China's response to this? A stern warning to Barack Obama, because he is our missing president, on this subject, to get our fiscal house in order and they, ever so slyly, recommend that we start with the American military, the greatest in the world, which they fear. Their motivation is clear, they've watched Congress as they weakened America's economy, now China slides right in and begins chipping away at the president and Congress to begin those fiscal cuts in the military budget.

Normal Americans, you and I, would laugh in the face of the Chinese, pay them their $1.152 trillion and walk away. But we cannot be assured Barack Obama or the Democrats would do such a common-sense thing. I cannot assume they will stand for America before all other nations, because they haven't done anything smart in years, decades even. But what should be done, are all the cuts I recommended in a previous blog, the Chinese be paid back immediately, and then begin paying off the rest of them:

The cuts I recommended in the same previous blog, would take care of China right off the bat. If we cut regulations, opened up our energy resources, raised the retirement age for Social Security and Medicare, cut out all fraud in Medicare, cut off all illegal aliens from U.S. Welfare programs, and the U.S. started living within its budget, only taking care of those responsibilities laid out in the U.S. Constitution, Article 1, Section 8, which clearly enumerates the powers of the federal government, then we can not only survive this economic crisis, but we can arise as a phoenix from the ashes, as it were.

But none of these happened. Barack Obama and the Democrats in the U.S. Senate effectively blocked any and all measures that would have prevented the credit rating downgrade we received from Standard & Poor yesterday:

"We downgraded the U.S. credit rating yesterday. It was motivated by a number of political factors: the political gridlock in Washington, D.C. makes us think its difficult for elected officials to put the U.S. on a long term, sustainable economic path. And part of it was because of the fiscal path itself, debt to GDP at the all-in level; states, local governments, federal government and that of liquid assets is about 75% of GDP. And that's going to trend up over the next decade, unless we get additional fiscal measures than what we have on the table right now." John Chambers, Head of Standard & Poor Rating Committee (FoxNews, Neal Cavuto, Cost of Freedom 6 August 2011) "The effectiveness, stability and predictability of American policymaking and political institutions have weakened."

You can thank the Democrat Party, Barack Obama and the Obama Administration for that last sentiment. They have systematically been weakening America for decades, under both the Democrat and Republican parties. (And keep in mind, I am a Conservative Republican and I wholly support the Republican Platform. Although the Utah County Republican Platform is by far and away, the very best.)

And what do others have to say about this untenable situation the United States finds itself in, thanks to the out-of-control spending of the federal government:

"18 countries have been credit ratings than the United States," says Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, presidential candidate, 2012 campaign season. "We have to go back, tear up the debt deal, and do a new deal. The markets said it stinks. The credit rating agencies said it stinks, and that we must now get our fiscal house in order--and the international markets are paying attention. Obama must admit he's failed the American people, put out a statement, a plan to address the market, and he needs to address the American people before Monday morning. He has to stop being AWOL on the economy." (Michele Bachmann, FoxNews, Neal Cavuto, Cost of Freedom 6 August 2011)

And Barack Obama, other than holding press conference after press conference, telling lie after lie, has put nothing of value on the table. The budget he submitted at the first of 2011 was summarily voted down in both the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, because it had a $1.5 trillion deficit attached. So what did Barack Obama do? Kept us in Iraq, Afghanistan, and promptly invaded Libya. Our deficit for this year alone, began to climb as America provided all the weaponry, and our soldiers, to the Libya campaign.

In the meantime, Republicans put plan after plan on the table, including the repeal of Obamacare, none of the budgets serious enough to address the issue at hand except the Cut, Cap, & Balance Act of 2011, which STILL went nowhere near far enough in cutting the debt currently crippling the United States of America. But tweaked, meaning, put some $10 trillion in cuts in there, and this would have been the solution to the debt crisis. But Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) immediately began attacking it, rallied the Democrats (not that they needed much rallying) to defeat it in the U.S. Senate. So, our one chance at getting this under control was torpedoed by the Democrats in Congress and the U.S. President, Barack Hussein Obama.

The warnings went out. They came from everywhere, including Standard & Poor themselves, but we were all willfully ignored. They were called in, tweeted, Facebooked, emailed, blogged about, talked about on reputable national shows as well as local ones, both radio and television, and we were still ignored. We were called fearmongers (and I have to say that handle belongs solely to the Democrats), terrorists, hobbits, racists, radicals, even right-wing extremists, simply because we called for some fiscal sanity in the federal government and a return to a constitutionally-limited government.

And what do others have to say about the status of the United States now?

"No one really knows what is going to happen when the futures, and international markets, open tomorrow." Terry Duffy, Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group CEO. "In light of the credit rating downgrade, I believe people will still flock to our treasuries. I think we need to get more clarity as to future regulation so businesses can expand, keep corporate tax rates low, which will be good for America in spending and growing. Downgrade is a little disturbing, I want to know where they were when people trading AAA rating securities that had no business being rated AAA, where were the credit rating agencies then?" "Worst performance I've ever seen by Congress, S&P told them what was going to happen. Don't ever crowd a professional who has to protect their credibility, as S&P had to. Get those guys in Washington, D.C. to do something real and get us a real energy plan in America," said T. Boone Pickens. (FoxNews, Neal Cavuto, Cost of Freedom 6 August 2011)

"On the upside, Canada suffered a downgrade in their credit rating and they got it back, with three years of hard work. Japan also suffered a downgrade but is growing stronger, economically, even with the enormous natural disasters they've been suffering through." Chester Dawson, Wall Street Journal (FoxNews, Neal Cavuto, Cost of Freedom 6 August 2011)

It comes down to this. There are solutions. Real solutions. But will the politicians in Washington, D.C. turn loose of their greedy, grasping need for ultimate power, and instead put America first? Will they seriously put everything on the table and begin slashing programs and departments left and right. I recommend getting rid of every department, except the military, that violates the U.S. Constitution. I am certain we would have our fiscal house in order within a couple of years, if we did that.

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) has submitted a Balanced Budget Amendment, which Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) quickly attached himself to, which would insure future Congresses would be held to these wise fiscal standards, should we ever get them, otherwise we will never pull ourselves out of this downward spiral to bankruptcy.

The Cut, Cap & Balance Act of 2011, if fixed, would do the job. So I call on the U.S. House of Representatives to fight, in earnest, with all the power they have, which is considerable, to get the Cut, Cap & Balance Act of 2011 through the Senate with a veto-proof vote, and on to the desk of Barack Hussein Obama within 21 days.

In addition, I call on them to begin making REAL cuts, beginning at $4 trillion, but better at $10 trillion, to be cut in the next 36 months. I call for business regulations to be lifted, natural resource restrictions lifted and the earnest drilling for oil, natural gas, and mining for clean coal, uranium, and other precious metals to begin immediately. I call for lands being returned to the states and states allowed to plum their own resources. I call for the federal government to recognize it created this unholy mess, and is bound by their oath of office (you know, to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution from all enemies, both foreign and domestic) to return itself to a constitutionally-limited federal government.

I call on the American people, all who believe America was, and still is, the greatest nation on earth; who believe the American dream is worth preserving, that America is worth restoring, that this Congress and this President are there at the behest of the American people, and that recognize their responsibilities in upholding and defending the U.S. Constitution and the United States of America, to wake up. Stand up. Speak up.

Find those candidates who you know to have a true north, backbones of titanium steel, morals and values which cannot be compromised, and who understand the sacred trust they have been given by both the American people and God. Find those candidates and give them your all to get them elected on 6 November 2012.

And last but not least, I call on Senators Mike Lee (R-UT), Rand Paul (R-KY) and Jim DeMint (R-SC) to continue leading the charge in this fiscal and constitutional battle.

Thanks a lot, Congress, for the Debt Debacle and Downgrade!

The blog I wrote on 29 July 2011, "What Barack Obama Left Out" clearly warned, as did every major news source worth their salt, that if Congress did not find, at minimum, $9 trillion in REAL cuts, not shadow cuts, we were faced with America's credit rating being downgraded. Specifically I wrote:

7. And that brings us to Standard & Poor and Moodys. Standard & Poor has said, very clearly, that unless they see a budget with real cuts to the tune of $9 to 10 trillion, they will downgrade America's credit. Again, none of the plans on the table, listed above, come ANYWHERE near to this. But still, the pontificating goes on, on Capitol Hill while they play at the crisis--while doing absolutely nothing!

We on Buy Back America, in addition to Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, every Republican candidate, Michele Malkin, Jedediah Bila, and more, warned everyone in Washington, D.C. who would listen, that Standard & Poor was dead serious about their warning.

Instead, they ignored our warning, even though Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Eric Cantor and every other blasted Senator and Congressman were told they had to take this seriously, that we had to have real cuts and to stop screwing around. I made several suggestions in the above mentioned blog, completely viable solutions, to get us back in line. I sent that blog to every one of them I could get it to through Twitter and Facebook, but nothing. Yes, there were a few who held strong, who understood that real danger was ahead for America, but they were ignored. They were mocked, scoffed at, and the American people were called terrorists by Joe Biden, hobbits by John McCain, and John Kerry demanded yesterday the media not allow us to be heard anymore.

What did all those lame-ass efforts do? Precisely what we warned, because we, the American people, are able to read, do math, and we know our history. Mainly because we weren't education into today's public school system. Standard & Poor didn't make it a secret what would happen if their warnings weren't taken seriously. Well now, here's your official notice. America is issuing YOU a warning. You sure as hell better take us seriously or every single blasted one of you who voted "Yes" on the Debt Debacle will be voted out of office if we can't have you impeached before 6 November 2012.

You have until 1 December 2011 to cut $9 trillion from our debt, and I mean REAL cuts, no more playing games or thinking you're fooling us. You're not! You never have. But I believe the United States having its credit rating downgraded from AAA to AA+ today should awaken a lot who were not awakened before. The day of doing "business as usual" which means "screwing the American people" is over. Done. You better understand you swore an oath to the Constitution of the United States, and there's the link to it in case you've never read it, and also violated the American people's trust in you.

Today, Reuter's reported:

Aug 5 (Reuters) - The United States lost its top-notch AAA credit rating from Standard & Poor's on Friday, in a dramatic reversal of fortune for the world's largest economy.

S&P cut the long-term U.S. credit rating by one notch to AA-plus on concerns about growing budget deficits.

U.S. Treasuries, once undisputedly seen as the safest investment in the world, are now rated lower than bonds issued by countries such as the UK, Germany, France or Canada.

The outlook on the new U.S. credit rating is negative, S&P said in a statement, a sign that another downgrade is possible in the next 12 to 18 months. (Reporting by Walter Brandimarte; Editing by Jan Paschal)

I recommend you sit down with Senators Mike Lee, Rand Paul, and Jim DeMint immediately and get schooled on our how our government is supposed to run. Then, I recommend you tell all the special interests and lobbyists to go to hell, roll up your sleeves and fix this unholy mess you've created. And I do mean you better get serious, and get serious now! Your days are numbered as Senators and Congressmen, and that's just the plain truth.

America was handed down, generation to generation, from the founding generation who bled, suffered, sacrificed and died to give us the superior form of government outlined in the U.S. Constitution. The Bill of Rights was later added, to cement the constitutional rights of the American citizens, and those rights are inviolate, and yet you hammer away at them day in and day out. You will stop that now too. We're done allowing you to abuse the American people and tank our economy, thus our nation.

You know how to fix it, and if you don't, I can recommend a few people you can meet with to explain in detail how to get us out of this mess. We have a sacred obligation to protect and preserve this nation, you have violated that obligation. We, the American people already awakened to what we did, now you must do the same.

Let me close with these words written so long ago:

Washington, D.C. — Concerned Women Political Action Committee (CWPAC) has announced its endorsement of Utah State Representative Carl Wimmer for the new Congressional seat in Utah.

Concerned Women PAC, established in 2002 by Founder and Chairman Beverly LaHaye, is affiliated with Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization with more than 500,000 grassroots members nationwide.

While the new Congressional district lines have yet to be finalized, it is expected that Representative Wimmer will live inside the district. Over the last several years, if there has been a vote on a pro-life issue, Representative Wimmer has been the lead sponsor and the driving force behind the effort. He led the successful efforts to pass ultra-sound legislation and bills that would increase common sense inspections of abortion clinics. He also led a successful effort that allows medical professionals to exercise their right to not participate in abortion due to religious, moral, or ethical reasons.

“Concerned Women PAC endorsed Representative Wimmer because his track record as a pro-life legislator is stellar.” said Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women PAC.

What Barack Obama left OUT of his speech

I grow weary of the pontificating taking place on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The Democrats want to keep wildly spending with no restrictions. The Republicans are playing at making cuts, but none of them real. In the meantime, here are the things Barack Obama conveniently left out of his brief speech of casting blame:

1. The economic growth of America for the last six months is a dismal 1.3% under Barack Obama and Harry Reid's watch. Why do I say under their watch? Because Republicans have passed plan after plan all to be stalled in the U.S. Senate by Senator Harry Reid. Thanks, Nevada, really appreciate the stumbling block you gave us! But Obama didn't think it important to include that in his speech.

2. Democrats had four years to rectify our now $14.5 trillion debt. But instead, they added almost $4 trillion to it, and want to add another $2.4 trillion without the rectifying of our grossly bloated government and their spending habits. But NOW they find it convenient to be on television 24/7 pointing the finger at Republicans. But I haven't forgotten the last three years, nor have I forgotten four of the last four-and-a-half years had Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid at the helm of this economic American Titanic. But that also was not important enough for Barack Obama to mention in his speech.

3. The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the Cut, Cap & Balance Act on July 19, 2011 (Daily Caller) and sent it over to Harry Reid in the U.S. Senate. What did Reid do with it? He and the Senate Democrats tabled it instead of listening to the persuasive, accurate, and passionate argument by Senator Mike Lee:

4. Not only has Barack Obama completely ignored the fact that Republicans are working day and night to solve not only the budget crisis, but the debt juggernaut as well, he's actively doing his best to kill any effort to begin whittling down our astronomical debt. Instead, Barack Obama, in collusion with Harry Reid, conspired to block every effort of the Republicans, to somehow keep from passing a budget through the next presidential election. Especially if that budget curtailed spending, and tried to start whittling down that same $14.5 trillion debt.

5. Not only are they opposed to bringing the wild spending under control and to strictly limit themselves to the boundaries of a budget. They are bitterly opposed to Senator Mike Lee's Balanced Budget Amendment.

Obama says, "We don't need a Balanced Budget Amendment, Congress just needs to do its job."

No kidding! That's the whole point, Congress hasn't done its job in decades, possibly even well over a century. Congress is never going to do its job because they are more concerned with their political futures than the future of America.

While I believe we will need the repeal of the 14th, 16th, and 17th Amendments before a Balanced Budget Amendment to truly work well, I completely support the Balanced Budget Amendment because each new amendment supersedes the ones before.

Moving on to my next point:

6. An excellent question was posed on FoxNews this morning by a viewer: "When can we look forward to seeing the debt clock ticking downward instead of spiraling upward?" You just can't put it any more plainly than that! There are no plans on the table that significantly cut our $14.5 trillion debt. Not Boehner's. Not Cut, Cap & Balance. Not Harry Reid's. Not Mitch McConnell's. Not Barack Obama's "never put it on paper" plan.

6. Yesterday, Charles Krauthammer, someone I usually respect, joined the Democrat litany of bashing conservatives across the board and telling them to just vote for Boehner's grand plan, which still does not do what is needed to keep America's credit from being downgraded. John McCain compared hard-working conservative Americans to Tolkein's "hobbits." Harry Reid called the same Americans "tea party extremists." And here's the conclusion I've drawn from that litany: We've been too successful in stopping the Obama agenda, although not successful enough. And believe me when I say, we are not stopping and no amount of grade school-style bullying will slow us down.

7. And that brings us to Standard & Poor and Moodys. Standard & Poor has said, very clearly, that unless they see a budget with real cuts to the tune of $9 to 10 trillion, they will downgrade America's credit. Again, none of the plans on the table, listed above, come ANYWHERE near to this. But still, the pontificating goes on, on Capitol Hill while they play at the crisis--while doing absolutely nothing!

So let's look what can be done!

A. Discretionary spending is 39% of federal budget. (White House) Discretionary spending is that part of the U.S. Federal Budget that is negotiated between the President and Congress each year as part of the budget process. It includes everything that is not in the mandatory budget, which are programs required by law to provide certain benefits, such as Social Security and Medicare." (FY 2012 Discretionary Federal Budget by Kimberly Amadeo)

Discretionary spending for 2012 is anticipated to be $1.3 trillion dollars. Now keep in mind, discretionary funding is a slush fund. It doesn't touch the budget of the 495 federal departments (and those are the ones we know about.) Barack Obama's budget had a $1.56 trillion deficit. That leaves us with a deficit still, so lets keep cutting.

So we have 39% cut already.

B. Foreign aid is 1% of the federal budget according to the White House, and is taken out the defense budget. So there's a cut the Democrats should be able to get behind. Tack that on and we've cut 40% of the federal budget and not added to the federal debt. In fact, we are now to the good and can take that extra and apply it to the debt. Now let's get down to actual numbers on three federal departments I think should be shut down permanently.

C. There is no need for the Department of Education ($535 billion,) the EPA ($3.8 billion,) and the Department of Agriculture ($149 billion) to be at the federal level. None whatsoever. If these responsibilities are given back to the states we will cut from the federal budget $687.8 billion. The states will take those responsibilities and make them profitable, as they are wont to do, and it's a huge win for 10th Amendment rights of the states.

So in essence, I have cut a monstrously huge amount of the federal budget without touching Social Security and Medicare. If we raise the Social Security retirement age two years, we save even more money. Cut the fraud from Medicare, and we save $60 billion more.

In other words, what is going on in Washington, D.C. has nothing to do with getting America back on track and everything to do with continuing the political games they have been playing for centuries! So here's my suggestion, call your congressmen, senators and the White House and tell them to stop playing politics and get down to the real business of getting the budget, deficits, and debt seriously under control.

And on that note, let's leave with a thought from Aristotle,

"It is also in the interests of a tyrant to keep his people poor, so that they may not be able to afford the cost of protecting themselves by arms and be so occupied with their daily tasks that they have no time for rebellion.”

A Cause Worth Perfecting

With the news that Michelle Obama was in Utah today, AND she raised $420,000 from gullible Utahns who apparently have not paid attention to what has been going on in America for the last three years, I've been pondering quite a bit.

You all know I am the co-host (to Tim Aalders) of KTALK AM 630's Buy Back America. It is an honor and privilege to be on air 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, talking of the state of America's Main Street, K Street, Washington, D.C. as a whole, the Obama Administration, Congress, conservatives and liberals throughout the nation, promoting small business, etc. Through the course of these months, as America's economic and constitutional positions have grown more and more precarious, there has been a sense of urgency growing in the conservative movement across the nation. This is an urgency that is 10-fold in my own heart.

I know I cannot save America by myself. I know there are millions across America joined in this great cause to preserve the Republic from those who would replace it with communism. FreedomWorks, Tea Party Express, GOOOH, Club for Growth, Tea Party Patriots, Sons of Liberty, 9/12ers, conservatives from all parties, and others who do not affiliate but are paying attention, contacting their elected officials, and voting.

I am constantly reminded these stress levels will kill me, so I try to exercise (although the back injury is getting in the way of that) and try do the things that will reduce stress as I engage in this battle every day. So to return to my original pondering, just what is a cause worth perfecting?

It is that cause which lights the fire of truth, patriotism, or spirituality in your heart. A family is worth preserving. God's gospel, and kingdom, is worth preserving. And I believe that America is worth preserving. That nation which was birthed from great sacrifice, both as a people and a nation. Growing pains that at times brought us to war, and at times brought us to our greatest moments. For me, my life's missions have grown to but a scant few: God, family, and America. I will carry those lights in my heart to the grave and beyond. This is how much they mean to me.

So back to my news about Michelle Obama's effectiveness in Utah. Liberals are opening their pockets to further the destruction of America, to fundamentally change the government our Founding Fathers created for us.

The U.S. Constitution was a divinely inspired document and is, bar none, the greatest document written in the history of the world. Note I said document, and not book. And yes, I know about the 3/5ths clause, which is abhorrent to me. However, I know the reason that it was put there, and I know it was supposed to sunset out. The ONLY clause in the Constitution that was to sunset out. It took a Civil War, with the Republicans on the side of the Emancipation Proclamation, laying their lives down to not only preserve the nation, but to also bring real meaning to the "all men are created equal" constitutional clause. It's taken more than a century to get Americans to the point where they accept that.

However, Barack Hussein Obama has divided the races more fully than they have been in decades. We are no longer Americans, but African-American, Hispanic-America, Arab-America, etc. and in so doing has weakened us through those divisions. Through Obama's policies our civil liberties are being stripped away and the ACLU remains silent. Through Obama's policies our constitutional rights are going down, one by one, and Congress remains ineffective. Through Obama's policies the Republic is under direct attack and weakening, and the whole of America is still not engaged in this battle. And the reason they remain silent is because they have one, and only cause, to strip freedom from every single American.

No matter where we turn, we are under attack. And we are fighting back, but until we unite we remain weak and able to be defeated. This is why I not only got so fully behind the Declaration of Restoration, I helped to create it. I have made it my cause, a cause worth perfecting, to promote and deliver the message of the Declaration of Restoration as far and as widely as I can. But I cannot do it by myself, and neither can Tim Aalders.

I am asking you to join with me in this effort to restore America. I need your help in spreading the word. I need people to join the cause. I need them to Like the video. I need them to read the Declaration of Restoration and sign their name to it if these words ring as clearly in your hearts as they have in mine. All of these things take no more than a few moments of your time, as a whole. But most of all, and I understand if it is not within your means at this time, I need people to donate to the cause, at least $5.00.

Tim and I are taking this message across the nation, to 33 American cities, to hand-deliver the Declaration of Restoration to Congress and so much more!

Today's show was intriguing. Darcy Van Orden co-hosted with me on Buy Back America. We discussed human resources, i.e., how to get a job, how to keep a job, how to be a good employee. In the second segment we talked about the Cap, Cut & Balance Act. The analogy I came up with was simply this: Only $111 billion cuts for 2012 is like spitting in the Mississippi River and expecting the flow of water to reverse direction! But nobody's listening to me on that one.

Anyway, Mike Swenson of Utah Shared Access Alliance joined us for the final hour and we talked land issues and how it ties into every aspect of this fight for America.

Yup, you saw right. Representative Carl Wimmer is joining me in studio to be my co-host tomorrow. Rep. Wimmer just announced his intention to run for Utah's 4th Congressional seat and once the redistricting is completed he will begin running in earnest. In the meantime, he's taking time out of his busy schedule to join me in studio and help me out on Buy Back America while Tim is out on Trek still sweatin' it out in the Wyoming desert.

And by the way, Carl. I am seriously bummed you saved that mustache off! It looked great! But I digress.

About Carl Wimmer:

Carl was elected to the Utah House of Representatives in 2006 and has very much enjoyed his service in state government. He is a conservative in Utah's state legislature.

Prior to becoming a state representative, Carl worked as a police officer from 1996-2007. He co-founded the South Jordan SWAT team, and served as a team leader for many years. Carl still considers his police and SWAT service one of the highlights of his life.

And on a completely different note, Carl has a passion for weightlifting, and holds several Utah state records in the sport of Powerlfiting. He has won multiple world championships in the benchpress with a personal best of 554 lb.

So yes, my co-host tomorrow is quite the amazing man and it should make for great radio as we discuss the issues facing Utah and America on the air.
