And, that the law is 'mean spirited'. One point that many on the left take, is that in the 1800's there was a near constant flow of immigrants into the country, and there was no problem then.

That is correct.

However, there was also no tax dollars going to support social programs. No Social Security, no welfare, no unemployment, etc.

Those on the left will say that not doing those things for people is just plain mean and selfish.

This point of view is in line with the 'Nanny State' thinking. That is that the federal government will take care of all our needs. We will not have to worry over anything. We would just go to our government provided job, and work at our 'not strenuous or dangerous in any way' job that only lasts 6 hours a day and then go home to our government provided house with our government provided food waiting for us.

When those people came to America in the 1800's, they expected only the opportunity to work and the possibility provided by our Constitution, that they could seek out their own prosperity without undue governmental oppression.

Now, we have all of these programs that we as citizens pay into... demanded by law! If we don't pay into these programs, we become criminals and will wind up in jail. Try not paying your taxes for a while and see what happens.

The answer to all this is simple. Make citizenship easier to achieve. Let people who want to become citizens do so and let them start paying taxes. Stop all the government programs that are supporting and creating a poor class' of people. If the great society and the war on poverty that the dems started in the sixties and early seventies worked, then we would not have any poor. Clearly, throwing money at a problem is just not the answer.

And.. finally, when a state has armed militaristic incursions against it's law enforcement and the people of the state. Allow the state it's constitutional right to protect itself from this kind of invasion.

It's not those seeking citizenship we don't want. It's those who take from the American citizens and never give back to our society. That person has no business in America. That person does not want to see the American experiment succeed.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03877816705655662207noreply@blogger.com
